In all the wealth accumulated no one ever asks you about your wealth. The first question is your children. One with breathren is more than a wealthy man."Azubuike." The living speaks. If a groom is blind as well as the wife one will be a corpse. A package knows who packaged it.
Well here is my rough translation, and hopefully it helps. " You cannot buy a child with money, some people may be rich in wealth but without kids that wealth is useless. If you don't have a child you will be unhappy, and money is only a material object. Money cannot talk, or do anything a human being can, and that's why although some people may not be financially rich, it is better to be rich in family." I don't know if that's the best translation, but I tried.
Egwugwu, you won my respect with this upload. Please if you come across these songs "mmiri imo asuwala" and "nwanyi jiri nwa ya kpoo anwuru" we will be happy to have them here. God bless you!
This John Ikediala.. He is the one that brought oriental brothers to limelight...Dan satch and Ichita are from the same village with Him..Umuene Obiangwu
I love this music so much, the beatings and the wordings. But I would wish this particular music be reproduced, this time with a prolonged time instead of 3 minutes which is rather too short for this kind of sweet music.
This is it! I remember starting my early dancing steps with this track 'Nwaka Ego" by John Ikediala in the early 70s. Egwugwu or anybody sharing should please link me with where to get the CD or audio tape.
This particular song by The Eastern Minstrels, was one of the welcome songs sang during General Gowon's visit to Biafra land, immediately after the civil war.
all it amounts to that material wealth is empty. When you have people , you have all. Nwa is Real , ego is paper not real, can be worth nothing depending on the politicians; ego in short is meaningless created by man for deceits
When people had the fear of God and this reflected in their music and songs. This music is in sharp contrast with what is obtainable now. Today, money and ill gotten wealth is the god people worship. When this song came out nothing like kidnapping and armed robbery was a rarity and great abomination. May God help us
You got it a bit wrong; the band is called Eastern Minstrels led by Raphael Anusiem from Obazu Mbieri. John Ikediala was actually the great star of the band. He was the lead vocalist. Please let us inform right.
Well, This Band Eastern Minstrels has Celestine Obiakor as the back up vocals while John Ikediala is vocalist. The band has Ogu Spoke, Louis Ukaga, Omire Boy, Abob Boy etc. It was obvious that late Pa Raphael Anusiem was the band leader.
In addition to what I said earlier. Late John Ikediala was an to Dan Satch of the Oriental Brothers. It was Dan Satch that made peace between the Eastern Minstrels Band and his Uncle John Ikediala during their time disintegration as a band. The Oriental Brothers were with John Ikediala before Dan Satch took them to Lagos for their musical life/carrier at James Sir James Azuwike Hotel, Ikeja.
Thanks, Ugochukwu Charles, for your excellent revelations in the two posts you made on this topic -- very enriching and revealing information. It all makes sense now to me because a song by Celestine Obiakor (Alara Ibe Ole) always sounded like something the Eastern Ministrels could have made. Now I know why he was mentioning Omire Boy and Abob Boy in that song -- I did not know they were human beings. Ala eriela nde mmanu gbara agba -- we have lost great human beings to mother earth.
+Zaramoku Celestine was a member of the Eastern Minstrels band before their separation which Dan Satch of the oriental Brother mediated for the peaceful separation amongst the band members. John Ikediala was an Uncle to Dan Satch and the Oriental Brother were mentored by Late John Ikediala
Now that you have mentioned it, Ugochukwu, I have been able to hear Obiakor's backup singing voice on the song. Wow!, I never knew that they were all once in one band. But it seems that Obiakor had a more successful musical career than him after Eastern Minstrel's break up. He had lots of albums and hit songs in the 1970s, to which PC Ogu contributed, but Ikediala sort of disappeared after this Nwakego song or so. Sad that they are all dead now. Please share anymore information you have about them -- Celestine Obiakor was a friend of my father's and an uncle to one of my best friends.
john ikediala was my grand dad....it feels good listening to his song here thanks for uploading it here...

My late Mum loved this song back in the years. John Ikediala and Israel Nwoba were her favourites.
