    Quelle merveilleuse interprétation de la Troisième de Beethoven, une version "allégée" au niveau effectif. Cristian Macelaru que je vois régulièrement à Radio-France est un excellent chef d'orchestre. Merci à lui et merci aux musiciens. Cette musique fait du bien.

    I played in the Miami Symphony Orchestra with Cristian. I haven't followed his career, so seeing this was quite a surprise. I am so very happy he's made his mark. Music deserves his talent, and he deserves to opportunity to share it with a many people as possible.

    Hier spielen ca. 35 Musiker/innen perfekt und mit Hingabe und mehr braucht es nicht, um diese ganz große Symphonie aufzuführen. Gefühlt geht es nicht besser. Diese Musik hat es nicht nötig, durch einen speziellen Sound aufgepeppt zu werden.

    Von Karajan interprets it better. There were sections that were too loud thus blotting out some instruments....but what do i know.

      Von Karajan leaves out the repeat in the opening movement. That alone disqualifies his interpretation to be better. Form is one of the most important elements of Beethoven's music. And altering it by ignoring repeats shows a total lack of understanding of that parameter in his music.
      Also he bloated the orchestra to ridiculous numbers. Which you can see here where the string section is as reduced as it should be for a Beethoven symhony.
      If you play that with the full number of players you have, you may get a more lush string sound (which Karajan loved) but you'll have to start doubling the winds and brass to correct the balance. Then you end up with playing Beethoven with 6 Horns as if it were Mahler...
