  • After a long time in repairs we finished the work on our Scot,we took her to the club at Whissendine on a cold day.
Many thanks to Mark for helping me with the repairs.
She ran a lot better with more power and very smooth running, just a few more jobs to do and she will 100%,as you can see the cold weather showed up a few steam leaks,I'm hoping to get these repaired before the New Year.
Looking forward to taking her to some longer tracks so she can really show what she can do.
Many thanks to everybody that has given me help and advice and help with the work,i'm sure you agree she looks amazing.

Yes Brian she is running a lot better but still not 100%,just some small jobs to do.....We ran the loco again today 1st,most of the steam leaks stopped and she ran well,we even had a coach full of passengers a few times and she went really well...Very pleased now......The station building still needs some work, but what a difference a year makes.......New Year steam up video should be on tomorrow..
      Best wishes Chris.

@@marknewell7355 You can have loads of fun with a 3 1/2 loco Mark.I started with a Polly 1 and learnt the art of firing and driving...We visited other railways and loved the 7 1/4 gauge size,I was hooked, that's when the Hunslet came along....Keep saving and one day you could own a larger loco....Join a local Model Engineering Society if you havn't already, the guys will help you.....But don't be jealous, enjoy your loco and the hobby.....
We will be filming many more railways this year some you may never have heard of,I hope you enjoy watching them as well..........Regards Chris.

Do you know of a Bassett-Lowke 7 1/4” Royal Scot running in England? My grandfather’s engine returned home after he passed away. I’d love to know if it’s being enjoyed.

Hi Jason.I know of a few Royal Scot owners in the uk and try to record all I see on photo's...If you give me more information about it,did you Grandfather build it or did he buy it from somebody..when it was sold and returned home, who bought it, plus any details of the loco, name of loco etc,I might be able to help you...If still running i'm sure it is being enjoyed.........Regards Chris

Bassett-Lowke Royal Scot built in the 30s. I have a list somewhere of all the Royal Scots that were imported by him. It was the only engine he owned that he didn’t build. I’ll see what I can find.

@@jasonixo The engine we are looking for was the first built, commissioned by Rinek of which all the other castings were made. Reneck went to England in 1933 after seeing an ad from Bassett Lowke advertisement that they were going to build replica's. Story says that he was disappointed he couldn't buy a flying Scot, so he came back with a George Vth (which my family owns and is restoring). He then went back and picked up the Scot a year later when it was built in 1934. When he died in ~52 his trains went up for auction, and Backyard Railroad Supply bought the George and maybe the Scott. Bud Kremers picked up the George and Ben got the Scot from either the dealer or the auction. Ben's family had it until Ben's wife died and it was sold to famous Dr Tony Marchington, who restored a full scale Flying Scot in 1998. Tony died in 2011 and we are trying to find out where this very historic engine ended up. I think you know most of this but it would be great to track it down. Thoughts?
