To catch people up on the start of the mimic story-
The girl and the witch. (Story)
One day a little girl named Hiachi was playing with her doll, Shaku. They decided to go out on an adventure, like they always did and stumbled upon a vast Sakura forest. In the middle of the Sakura trees Hiachi noticed a Sakura tree in the middle of the others that looked fairly well taken care of. A note upon the tree said:
“This tree bears the seal of the cursed witch “ (not exact words)
Afterwards, Hiachi noticed a dark figure next to the tree and was a bit frightened at first but as the creature didn’t look like it would harm her, she went closer.
The creature morphed into Hiachi but in a black gown and hat, she was also much taller than Hiachi (who was 7-8 at the time.)
Hiachi asked
“Don’t you get lonely out here?”
And the creature replied “I have never had a friend, will you be my first?”
Hiachi asked the witch for her name. She replied saying she did not have one.
She named the witch “Sama” and became her friend.
Sama also said that she was stuck by the tree for over 3,000 years from a misunderstanding.
Hiachi went back to Sama every day and they became close, Sama was like a mother to Hiachi, even more than her own family.
And one day Sama said:
“My dearest Hiachi, please, take off the seal, then we can go anywhere together!”
Hiachi, trusting her “best friend” decided to remove the seal.
The witch devoured and trapped Hiachi and her doll Shaku in *her* world, where they became monsters, puppets, to be more exact. Hiachi began to cry. (End of chapter 1 u see her crying)
The witch laughed, now free to roam.
Oh and also, Hiachi has one greatest regret..

Shaku (Hiachi’s doll) is the daughter of Kusonoki Masashige (one of your ancestors) who was a samurai with a wife and daughter. He would play with his daughter for hours on end, while also fighting away beasts who attacked his village. One day 4 beasts who he knew were stronger than him attacked his village. The beasts were: rage, control (aka sama, kintoru) jealousy and (my brain farted on the last beast’s name agh). Kusonoki, as the towns best hero, was smart and knew he couldn’t beat them. So he told his wife and daughter to stay at home and hide.
Kusonoki went to the cave of the devil and asked for the power to seal the beasts away. The demon laughed and said something about how he was the strongest but was still too weak to defeat the beasts.
Kusonoki battled for days , sealing away each of the beasts and keeping them away from his family and the innocent villagers. Then he got to the last beast, Kintoru.
He went to attack her but then she showed him his daughter, being controlled in her arms.
Kusonoki dropped his sword in shock and agony, and made a deal with Kintoru.
The deal was..
If Kusonoki sacrificed himself to Kintoru’s *Control* then his daughter would be set free. But little did he know Kintoru betrayed him, turned his daughter into a doll (not confirmed) and controlled him, turning him into the monster you may see in places like chapter 4.
But thankfully we get to save him in chapter 4 too! And defeat Kintoru by slashing her hearts.
Please note this may all not be full canon or up to date, this is all from my memory of the mimic story. :)

Yeah! Though Book 1 does not have any connections to Book 2, it's just that Kusonoki sealed Jealousy.
Rin (the girl in the red kimono we see in the video) and Mio (The girl we see in the blue kimono in the start of the video):
Two sisters lived in poverty, they constantly starved themselves. One day, Mio, the younger one, arrived home overfilled with joy. Rin, the older one, became skeptical about Mio. She questioned Mio but was never told why Mio was so joyful.
As the days went by, Rin came to a final thought, that Mio must have been eating well without her. Jealousy overtook Rin and to satisfy her insatiable hunger she consumed her own sister. Rin came to a realization that Mio was secretly saving up money for the both of them. Rin became haunted with extreme guilt, leaving a mysterious mouth at the back of her head.
It was the mouth of Mio, who constantly wailed for food, otherwise, Rin would ache in extreme pain.

I love the work u put into the animation :D one minor nitpick i have is that ohhaguro bettari deliberately has black teeth since thats what the yokai is originally all about (ohhaguro translating to blackened teeth a common beauty method during ancient japan) aside from that tho its still well done animation!
