Nothing strange about Knowles moving to Penn State. He's tired of losing to Michigan at Ohio State and wants a change. Now he'll be losing to Michigan at Penn State.
This is becoming standard procedure in the sport as a whole. Have a successful season, and opposing teams gut your roster of coaches and coordinators.Or, they get a call from the pro ranks and have to seize on an offer. If Ryan Day does leave Columbus, it will be to coach in the NFL.
Throw in the fact that you get death threats after every bad loss at Ohio. Those fans are violent and insane. Not worth it. Time to bounce and make more $ and put that crazy Ohio soft stuff behind.
Interesting that Day would stay in a place where your family is threatened after a bad loss. I’m outta there man. Get away from those insane buckeye fans and from always watching your six.
Don't you remember the FBI having to look into threats against Harbaugh when he wasn't beating OSU? Or the punter who dropped the snap vs MSU? Every fan base has their tiny faction of POS lunatics.
Nobody cares about Ryan Day, but anybody that knew they bought Chip Kelly in for the offense new that the ohio state AD may have been priming the pump for replacement because Kelly ran a similar type offense when he was at Oregon. That's what I'm thinking
@@woodshed_moments i highly doubt OSU adapts Oregons/Kelly's methods fully. Was a perfect blend of Day and Kelly's O....Kelly's O Loneman were always too small at Oregon and always got trashed by Big Ten teams.
If you watch menace 2 sports that is exactly what Zach smith said. In his opinion & what he has heard is Knowles had enough of Ryan day. Something to the effect that osu is in chaos. I truly think day leaves osu because of the fan base & threats to his family. He's had enough imho
I would leave too. Having your family and children worried about crazy fans leaking your home address and where the kids go to school and stuff. ohio fans are certifiable horrible people. Worst fan base in the country for any sport.
@bushcraftohio7320 i think their has always been a big ride between Larry Johnson (DL coach) and Knowles that came to a head after the firat Oregon vs OSU game. -Peter -
I'm surprised that more of these OSU coaches aren't getting NFL opportunities, especially with all of the coaching turnover we've seen this NFL offseason.
If he gets an NFL offer that coincides with his skill set, which at the NFL level is limited to the offensive side of the ball, he’d be a fool not to take it. Why deal with the psycho-billy Buckeye fanbase when you could be treated with respect and professionalism instead? Unfortunately he won’t make the money in the NFL as a coordinator that he’s making as the HC at Ohio State. And, to be frank, he doesn’t really have a track record of successful program building. He took a 13-1 program backward for years until the playoff system allowed him to lose 2 games and still have a postseason run.
Knowles was not quite willing to remain where his ego wasn't being stroked to his satisfaction. And there was tension with Larry Johnson - the DL legend ! Perhaps his poor recruiting wasn't respected either - and poor people skills with recruits parents ? Day picked up the slack with Knowles shortcomings. But his D in 2022 giving up 40+ points to Georgia wasn't forgot & rightful concern for 2025 after the talent lost to the NFL off this Championship team ? - - - Likely the lack of comfort with the staff in my view. And his home is Philly ? A dream destination from childhood likely prompted his contacting PS for any interest - in addition to OU & ND !
The window for Ryan Day to leave for the NFL has closed. The Cowboys and Bears was the most ideal landing spot. The only coaching vacancy that’s left open is the New Orleans Saints and I don’t see him taking that.
OSU didn't lose because UM scored 13 points, they lost because the offense only scored 10. Now in '22 you could definitely pin that loss on Knowles and his cover 0 approach :)
Coordinators come, and coordinators go. I think everyone would trade that for a national title. Knowles was never given full autonomy to run his system at OSU, there was always push and pull. PSU will turn it all over to him, which is what he wants.
I know Penn State is expected to have a really great season next year. So Maybe Jim Knowles thinks he can get another national championship next year. Ohio State might be in a rebuilding mode next year. I don't know the details of the move. I am pretty shocked that Knowles left OSU. I thought OSU was a really good fit for him.
Cryin ryan wants to leave ohio desperately but NO ONE wants him. Y'all know soon as the clock hit zero he had his agent calling every nfl opening and they didn't even answer the phone😂😂😂😂😂
No no no no no, they the Coaches get paid wayyyy to much f"$_them and Ryan Day and OSu as a program he needs to leave if he can't handle them Wolverines. 15-0 really Natty no secondary chances playoff Natty for big blue
crying ryan is a dooty head and a joke and his staff hates him and they leave wanting to shun him in the worst way possible...if Mich DC was open and Michigan hadn't already ran the Don Brown defense because that's all Knowles is running then Knowles would try for Michigan
Not a fanatic of either team, just a gambler, but as much as people think OSU fans are nuts, this take proves Michigan fans are equally the same. Complete speculation with zero facts. Furthermore, letting a coach who just won the Natty leave or push him out the door is not how business decissions are made by business people, it's how emotional fans talk, on both sides. This rivalery has more unhinged fans than Bama vs Auburn and Texas Vs OU, and those fans are insane.
So, sports is about speculation. The facts are, Jim Knowles is gone after winning a Natty. Chip Kelly is on the short list for the Texans. Ryan Day and his family did, in fact, receive death threats. Michigan let Harbaugh go after winning a Natty, so it does happen. I don't think this take proves what you think it proves, but thanks for watching!

You are probably right. I can't see him taking an OC job somewhere, it would need to be HC. New Orleans is a dumpster fire, no way he would go there.
Still possible that Andy Reid retires after this season.
If so, the spring portal will be lively.

The reason he left was.......money!
That and to run his system which is a 3 down look and OSU insisted on a 4 down system
