Hi, I decided to do a no buy makeup this year, and to stop impulse spending. In fact, I want to be out of overdraft by April, which may be difficult after 6 years of always living paycheck to paycheck. I wrote the days of the month on a sheet of paper and I cross out each day I don't spend anything. For the moment it works. And I unsubscribe from many Instagram and RUclips channels not to be influenced. I hope I'll succeed. Thanks for your videos they're so helpful. Kisses from France.

This is a great video!! My husband thinks it’s too much work to think about every dollar we spend - so I asked for one week of “paying attention” and we both had urges - especially on Amazon. Neither of us purchased anything and after a week I added up what we saved by not making thought out purchases. It was almost $220. He couldn’t believe it. I’m slowly changing his attitude! 😊. And I’m one week Target sober! Haha.

I have a debit rewards card with my Credit Union, that rounds up to the nearest dollar, when I use it, and deposits those extra cents into my Savings account. Since I use my debit card during the week for groceries, gas and any staples we need, I end up on average saving at least $5 per week to that account.
I, also, audited my accounts and my annual payroll benefits statement. I eliminated 2 or 3 subscriptions - Hulu, Pureflix and an AD&D policy through my credit union, that came out quarterly. I took my husband's jeep off our car insurance, since it's been broke down for several months and not looking like he's going to get it fixed anytime soon (it's an extra vehicle). I, also, eliminated some additional coverage I had on payroll deduction, since hubby now has his own insurance coverage through his employer. It's amazing how much money you can save each month just by doing exactly what you're talking about - auditing your finances and decluttering them from things that you no longer need!! Now that money goes toward debt payment on my snowball plan. :-)

Great Ideas! We have cable and my hubby only pays for the football package during football season. We live a frugal life and watch where our money goes. I have a habit of writing down what I spend daily. I am getting ready to review last years spending and see where I can cut back. I have challenged myself not to buy anything this year, unless we need it. I have 2 credit cards (0% interest) 1 will be paid off in February and the other in August.

You can do it! I did it a few years ago and never looked back. I was spending SO much money on diet coke, it was embarrassing. If you can't go cold turkey, try cutting back little by little. Instead of 2 a day, only 1 a day, then every other day, then 3 times a week...you get the picture. Even if you have to go slowly and each step takes 2 weeks, then so be it. You'll reach your goal for sure! And you'll save a ton of money.

I did a bit of a financial spring clean and tighten up yesterday and cancelled Netflix @ £5.99 pm. Then while looking through my account I noticed a random £15 monthly debit. On investigation I found that 3 months ago I'd inadvertently signed up for a direct debit shopping club bonus thing when I'd made an on line purchase...how did that happen??? So glad I did a review as that's £251.88 / $331.10 a year saved ! Not a small amount of money in my world.

We cancelled Netflix two years ago, and took advantage of our free year of Disney+. I have also made it a goal to find what is cheaper at dollar tree. I’ve kept a log of what is regular there that I use and how much the unit price is, versus Walmart or target. Some stuff is cheaper at target! (I buy their brand of multipurpose cleaner for our bathroom). But I buy my dish soap (we don’t use a dishwasher) and our other small random things at dollar tree :)

I took out cash for a hockey game last night ended up getting treated which was not expected. So I am going to use the $40 I took out to stock up on groceries. I have found that if I have groceries that I actually like I am less likely to go out for lunch. Occasionally I will go out for Chinese at work(which I did yesterday) but if I would do it near my house it Would be double the cost and not as great quality. I am going to make breakfast burritos this weekend which will give me enough breakfasts for a month at work.

I love your videos! I was wondering if you'd consider doing a video on staying motivated while saving for a house. I feel like no one really talks about how hard that is and there's not a lot out there. It's not even really a baby step. I paid off 70k in student loans this feels so much worse for some reason. Since I'm now saving about 19% to my 401k (trying to catch up) and it's going to take me 3 or 4 more years to have enough for a down payment. It's just me in my household and it seems like such a long journey and so far off. Thank you!

I think I mention to you , I'm trying to do a no spend year on anything that is not related to the house and house expenses. I did a no spend year the same year you did on close and still am not buying. I'm going to wear out shoes and clothes before I purchase another thing. I make my clothes trendy just by switching things up. I'm also going through the kitchen and getting rid of all those gadgets that I've been gifted that I never use. Anything gifted that I have not used I'm donating to Salvation Army. I want to at the end of this journey have more money, less things and more piece of mind. Does that make sense? I'm still posting on my posh all those bags of clothing I told you about. Some of my earrings yes will go back to sourcing but it will be from yard sales, American cancer society( they have great donors all sizes and dollar sales, they wash and steam all clothing, love that store for sourcing) and goodwill outlets. I'm not going crazy either. It's all so nicely organized on the cheap all of my supplies have been free, so I'm hoping I can accomplish all. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I cancelled Netflix also because I had watched all the same shows over and over plus it seems to keep creeping up in price . I heard on a money podcast to check into seeing if you can cancel like Netflix for a month and use Hulu then the next month pay for Netflix and just go back and forth each month so you have what you like but spread the money out. I am thinking about doing this Purflex and Frendly subscription. I am also making my own planner because though I really like a new planner I don’t use it to the fullest so I started around August searching for free printable to fill my planner. I am almost done with it but I think I will use a lot kore this year and the best thing is I haven’t spent a penny to get it... okay I have instant ink so I spent that but I have taken that subscription down a little too.

I totally love Netflix, and my brother is kindly paying for it, and lets me borrow so no expense there. Well he lives in a flat that belongs to me for half price... we help each other in lots of ways. I have always wanted to sign up for audible but bo way I am spending 10$ a month for reading... I always get my ebooks for free. But I have cut my houskeeper (needed her during a long disease but not so much now) and send that mony straight to saving. I make a budget with my bills, needs and an allowance so I know how much I can save each month and I set an order for the bank to transfer that amount into savings. Sometimes I need to use that money again when something happens but most of the time it is just relaxing and watching it grow. That way I got to pay my apartment in cash!

52 week challenge. So many variations out there. Last year I did the original one with a savings of just under $1400 and it wasn't that bad! This year I'm trying the $3000 dollar challenge. EEEK! If I don't make it, I'll jump back to the regular one at whatever week I'm at so at least I will have saved extra money. It's definitely hard because I still put aside the same amount every month that I always have, and I do have to give up some things, but totally worth it in the end.

    😀I love mama doctor Jones.
I canceled my amazon prime subscription this morning around 3am when I couldn't sleep. That was our only subscription. Last year we had hulu for 99 cents a month. But when that promo ran out and went to $5.99 I canceled it bc we never use it.

my "small" actionable step isn't for the purpose of saving money, but is having my girlfriend move into my super low cost home with me, thus reducing my home-related expenses by about half, and increasing how much I can have in savings by almost three times what it is while I live alone, so the money I will save on home related expenses will naturally be going straight into savings. also, idk if you recall, last year when my income went up at the start of the new financial year, I set it up so the amount it increased by went straight into savings. I have not missed the income increase, so when it increases again this coming financial year, I will set it up so that THAT increase goes into savings too!

I don't have netflix but i do have amazon prime and i really think when it comes up for renewal, i am going to let it drop. (I set it to remind me in advance.) I had started a sinking fund for it this year and ugh, it just aggravates me to think of putting money in there instead of like my car repair/maintenance fund. I survived without two day shipping in the past. I can do it again. :)

Oh my gosh. 🤦 I want to cut out subscriptions/ entertainment. Not Netflix.... I am not a monster. 😜 But we have a bunch of movie channels that are subscribed to in addition to Netflix and Hulu and Amazon prime. Plus we have regular cable. the husband isn't on board with us cutting that so I need to find a nice way to just pick a couple so that we don't have an insane amount of money you going to entertainment. Like we probably have 350 going to movies and shows each month. I don't even know the exact figure. I grew up with five channels on my tv. I'm perfectly fine not having a bunch of stuff the kids definitely likes her shoes but even if we went down to internet only they could still watch stuff. Hopefully I can get the husband on board someday.
