that's mainly because UK Asian music is based on hip hop and electronic elements infused with folk punjabi instruments. It's a direct result of having bunch of first generation punjabi kids who listen to hip hop/rap outside home but their parents play desi music. So now we have lots of UK born punjabi music producers with westernized beats. Same trend is now catching up in US too. New punjabi producers coming out like Twinbeatz. Canada is there too. Trend won't stop. Punjabi people like to sing and dance in general and if others are liking it, it'll just grow. Something like the EDM DJ's coming out of Netherlands.
