  • Getting ready for those Alaskan winters.
In this video I help my Grandfather make me an anorak jacket for $50 which we had seen online for over $300.
He spent his whole life as a carpenter so this was a new project for the both of us.
Maybe we’ll get to do some woodworking in a future video. Thanks for watching!

Wow a wonderful memory with your grandpa and a jacket to love and cherish always.I am 72 and never had a grandpa. By the time I was born they were already gone from this world. Cherish him u are so fortunate.

I’m impressed! Love that it was grandpa showing you how to construct the jacket. Made me laugh that grandma was seen fixing the little problem! As a long time seamstress, bobbins and tension drive me crazy and is the sole reason for my “sewing anxiety.” lol (I’m 70)

Amazing. I wish I had a video of some of the projects I did with my grandad. He was a very handy man. Much like yours.
Cherish your grandparents everyone. You'll miss them when they're gone. I do. Even when they went a bit senile. At least they were around.

Your Grandpa has a hidden talent, looks like. He could do some tailoring as a side hustle. Beautiful Anorak. Josh, you picked up another skill... sewing. It will pay off later on down the road, believe me! Well done!!!

That was so cool. I never got to make a jacket with my Gpa but I use to ride on the tractor with him when he was farming potatoes and he taught me how to fish. I'm 60 years old now and hoping for grand kids of my own❤️

Lucky man get as much knowledge as you can and learn and retain those skills. I wish I paid and spent more time with my grandparents. I just paid attention to me selfishly getting outta rural America. Now all I was is to go back to the simple life without many of the skills and no one left to teach me them.

Oh great! We used the 44 size on the pattern. I’m about 5’11”175lbs and it fit me perfectly with a little extra room in case I wanted another jacket underneath. Let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck!

That's a parka. An anorak is just a bourgeoisie parka from the 20's. But parka's have been worn for hundreds of years and were invented in England.
