Did you make the connection in the end? Violet gave birth to Jenny and Screech. Separated at birth after her death, they have a chance encounter in later life, without knowing they’re brother and sister, so Screech ends up killing his sister. They are born side by side on the same day and die side by side on the same day. Both Jenny and Violet are victims of abuse, their response to violence is to freeze - fight, flight or fawn - they are both too mentally weak for fight or flight and the fawn response is what gets them both killed. History repeats. The cycle of abuse and violence is passed down the generations - all three of them victims of it. And shout out for him acknowledging the trauma witnesses of violence go through too - the officer and the doctor in a state of shock. Too often the bystanders are forgotten.

This is a masterpiece and a masterclass of storytelling. In 13 minutes he has developed 3 main characters and given them depth to which you feel like you are there and you can actually see them ( plus auxiliary ones to flesh out the story), instrumental overtures for each Tale - setting the tone ( a foreshadowing) for what is to come. Violet’s Tale is just 🤯. When he sings “ She ne-ever had a chance “ you can see it, her chance, floating up and out into the black night sky. ( Remember Screech “melted into the black night just like snow”). And when he is narrating, looking straight at the camera, straight at you- the audience the fourth wall has disappeared and you are right there, in that room.
I think a perfect finale of you 30 days would be "Kujo Beatdown" if yan wait that long before watching it. Beforehand, make sure to watch Ren's 36 minute video where he explains in detail all of the crap he had to deal with that led up to "Sick Boy" being taken down for a period of time. It will blow your mind!!!

It's called Dance with the devil and I don't think it's a coincidence that Ren sort of mentions it in Violet's tale when he sings "Devil comes to dance" in the stairwell and then Violet is left "bruised and broke" just like young William's mother ended up "broken and bruised". Little homage there.

Yes 30 days!! That guitar rift coming down the stairs at the beginning of Screech tale sounds soo much like ACDC thunderstruck! Paying so much homage and then of course the cadence and tempo of Warren G regulate at the beginning of Jenny's tale. Ren is just a phenom!

The 'Core' is in reference to his honesty & rawness, because 'hardcore'. Hence... Bardcore. It's impossible to pin Ren down to one genre. Jennys tale was prompted by a newspaper story and people saying its such a shame then a few months later came Screeches tale then it was nearly 2 years later he released Violets tale tying it all together. Masterpiece.

Ren is a modern day bard painting such vivid imagery with his storytelling that it pulls you in and forces you to keep watching - even when it gets physically uncomfortable during Violet’s Tale. And Ren uses this ability to shed light on far too real issues in the world. Ren is special. 30 days is a good start. It won’t get you anywhere near the bottom of the Ren rabbit hole, but it’s a good start 😂 Also it is often overlooked that there are a few other songs best done in order of release (though doesn’t have to be in one sitting): Freckled Angels -> Suic!de -> For Joe. It’s not as important as with the trilogy, but trust me, it makes the experience of For Joe extra special ❤🐰🕳️

To connect the hospital bed Ren winds time forward on his guitar and then after the Stevie attact backwards as he returns to the hospital so clever He has so much detail in these tales they can be watched many times if we can cope Violet being Jenny and Screechs mother is so Shakespearean

Yes! 30 days. Notice the words "its such a shame" in all these, its the phase that was the catalyst of inspiration for all these. He read it is a paper it was a quote that an officer gave about another senseless murder. It bothered Ren that that was all he had to say about it. Recommend Chalk Outlines with Chinchilla. Make sure to do the video on it for sure. I think from what you've seen the videos are a big part of his art.
Ren is the perfect artist for reactions. Hi evokes emotions, like no other. Your reaction was natural and heartfelt. 30 days of Ren - WOOT! I'm here for it all. The Tales are pretty dark but a necessary commentary on generational abuse. Ren puts it out there with the artistry, compassion and skills that smacks you right in the gut. It's genius. Maybe do something a little more fun for the next one. I've seen a number of people mention I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop with The Big Push and that is perfect to lighten the mood. Just make sure you do the one where Ren has on red suspenders. So excited for the next one!

So interesting that you referenced Immortal Technique: I've always thought Ren was referencing the song you mentioned, Dance with the Devil, when he sang "...the devil comes to dance" in the stairwell.

30 days of Ren - WOOT! I'm here for it all.
The Tales are pretty dark but a necessary commentary on generational abuse. Ren puts it out there with the artistry, compassion and skills that smacks you right in the gut. It's genius. Maybe do something a little more fun for the next one. I've seen a number of people mention I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop with The Big Push and that is perfect to lighten the mood. Just make sure you do the one where Ren has on red suspenders. So excited for the next one!
