- Wolfpack is about the clash of the Allied convoy ONS-92 and the wolf pack "Hecht" (pike) of the German Kriegsmarine on May 12th 1942, when 7 ships of the convoy were sunken. "Gleaves" and "Ingham" are the names of 2 American warships. The British rescue ship "Bury" was equipped with the new HF/DF-technology whose inadequate use in part explained the disaster.

In Wolfpack erzählt Sabaton vom Zusammentreffen des alliierten Convoy ONS-92 mit dem Wolfsrudel "Hecht" der Kriegsmarine am 12. Mai 1942, wobei 7 Schiffe des Convoy versenkt wurden. "Gleaves" und "Ingham" waren zwei amerikanische Kriegsschiffe. Das britsche Rettungsschiff "Bury" war mit der damals neuen HF/DF-Technologie ausgestattet, deren nicht sachgemäße Anwendung das Desaster mitverschuldete.

Yeah but fire is worse than flooding, because flooding is manageable, but fire uses up the boats oxygen and can damage internals, and it's even worse if said fire reaches the weapon storage.

well the Germans had the most subs in world War 1 and 2. it was a cold thing to serve in one with all the perils and risks. not to mention the health conditions.

Das soll jetzt nicht blöd klingen, siehs eher als konstruktive Kritik(!): Das Video ist nicht schlecht wobei ich finde das du das timen von bestimmten Film-/Videoasuschnitt zur Musik einwening besser Timen musst :) Aber ich denke das kommt mit der Zeit :D

Ich frage mich, PiscatorLager, was hälst du eigentlich von U-Booten als Waffe im allgemeinen? Effektiv oder eher Sinnlos?
Für mich eher zu teure Spielerei, nur das sie unterwasser ETWAS sicherer agieren, aber jedes Schiff kann die Aufgaben übernehmen.
Historisch kann man sagen, das fähige Kommandeure durchaus gute erfolge erzielt haben, aber ich seh ein Uboot eher als Bergungs- Und Forschungsschiff.
Alle Atommächte setzen darauf, einen Gutteil ihrer Nuklearwaffen auf U-Booten auf den Weltmeeren herumzuschippern. Mit Interkontinentalraketen sind Bomber als träger obsolet und U-Boote viel schwieriger auszuschalten als Raketensilos. In den Weltkriegen waren sie im Gegensatz zu anderen Schiffen ziemlich billig und schnell in der Herstellung. Ein Spielzeug waren sie nie.
@@w1darr, zumindest bis heute. Zumindest ist ein "Unterwassertourismus" in Planung, den ich eindeutig als Spielzeug oder Spielerei werten würde. Aber wie kommst du darauf, dass sie verglichen mit anderen Schiffen billiger oder schneller im Bau gewesen wären? Das kommt nur hin, wenn du ihren Wert an ihrer Offensivkraft misst. Ein Überwasserfahrzeug derselben Größe wäre aber in jedem Fall wesentlich einfacher und billiger herzustellen. Schon allein weil das nur einen Motor bräuchte und nicht zwischen Dieseln und E-Antrieb hin und her schalten müsste.
Und natürlich werden U-Boote heute auch noch zum Schmuggeln benutzt. Die Drogen-U-Boote bereiten den USA Kopfzerbrechen, denn die sind (wenn sie gut gemacht sind) nur durch Zufall zu lokalisieren. Ob man das als Spielzeug betrachten sollte, weiß ich nicht...

Aber das Wesentliche bei den U-Booten mit Nuklearbewaffnung ist, dass sie für den nuklearen Zweit- oder Gegenschlag da sind. Dadurch bewahren sie eine Pattsituation zwischen den Atommächten, denn die sind fast unmöglich auszuschalten.
