    The Titans never believed in Malik. Willis said that in his starts in Tennessee he never even got reps with the 1s in camp or practices leading up to the games. They set him up for failure while the Packers believed in the guy and gave him a real opportunity with real practice reps and a game plan, something Tennessee never did

      Malik admitted that he was not ready to be a starter at the time that he did start but the Titans didn't help matters either. Malik said that in the weeks leading up to the games that he started, he received no live reps in practice, only walk-throughs.

  • @floydclark6710
    @floydclark6710 Месяц назад +43

    Tyler. The main issue is that we should have never traded Malik. When we picked him, he obviously needed a year or 2 to sit behind RT, imo. We put him in the worst position possible as a rookie, when he wasn't ready. Never got a single actual chance outside of that rookie season, when most of us assumed he wasn't ready. We gave him away for nothing. & yes... I do believe that he actually may wind up being not only a starter, but a GREAT starter. We'll see. Should've never let him go though. He was worth a roster spot & he was worth an actual opportunity.
    After the 2 years he probably needed, we gave him away after he appeared to have been significantly improved this offseason during OTA's. Dumb decision. Worth a roster spot. Makes my blood boil.

      @badgermoon9229 Месяц назад +2

      You guys have some good players on your team.
      Unlike the previous week, the Packers couldn't run the ball between the tackles. It wasn't until they started going off tackle that the running game got anywhere.
      As for the QB? Our last two were drafted and didn't start for 3 years. Let that sink in for a moment. You may have let a good one slip away. I think most teams do the same thing.

    • @escrtn84

    • @floydclark6710
      @floydclark6710 Месяц назад +2

      @@badgermoon9229 Exactly. I just don't get the rationale. I was very upset when we traded him for basically nothing. Tbh, I didn't believe he would likely become a good starting QB at the time, but it's just the fact that we never really tried to see if he COULD become that. It'd be one thing if the narrative was that he was supposed to be pro-ready as a rookie... But everyone knew he was raw & needed serious time & development. Our coaching staff at the time obviously knew he wasn't ready either. Cuz even when he played as a rookie, we had him on the shortest throwing leash I've ever seen.
      Step 1) Spend a 3rd round trade up to draft & develop raw/talented QB.
      Step 2) Once said QB should be ready to play, trade him for a 7th?
      I get it. Whole new front office that didn't draft him. Still not smart imo. His upside alone should've been worth a roster spot., even if we felt the odds were very low that he'd actually pan out.

      I watched Malik Willis every home game he played in Lynchburg. You are dead wrong about Malik Willis and today should have taught you that. Maybe he didn't transition well initially, but I have seen Malik play so many times and he was ALWAYS the best player on the field, regardless if Liberty played a P5 or G5 team. It is on the Titan's coaching staff for not understanding Malik and developing him. Malik has a massive arm and can thread the needle. And, his running ability is even stronger than what you saw today.
      I said this when you guys were trashing him and I say it again. Malik Willis is a lot better than most people realize, and it finally seems he is going to get the opportunity to show that to all. He should have been a first round draft pick and a trade for a 7th was a slap in the face and shows the stupidity of the Titans staff. Good luck with Will Levis.

    Malik is very good at causing a defender to miss or force a single arm tackle which half the time he is strong enough to run through. He has been doing that since college. When he played in college he had time to look back down field after making a defender miss in the backfield and make a long throw. Have not seen him do that in the nfl yet, but it does look like he is getting close to being able to do that soon. After a sixty or seventy yard pass after causing a missed sack the defense can’t leave there coverage until he crosses the line of scrimmage and that is when his run game really takes off…

    You make valid points about Levis, but let’s not dismiss him just yet. Consider this: in 2023, the Packers transitioned from Aaron Rodgers to Jordan Love. Initially, Love struggled, with a 3-6 record and only 59% pass completion, along with four interceptions. However, by Game 10, he turned things around dramatically, completing 83% of his passes and emerging as one of the NFL's promising young quarterbacks.
    What changed? Two key factors:
    The coaching staff reevaluated their approach, focusing on Love’s strengths. They tailored the offense to his abilities, allowing him to throw off his back foot and on the move. They adjusted the route scheme to emphasize play-action and shorter sit down routes. THEY ALLOWED HIM TO ESTABLISH HIS IDENTITY
    Levis is still in search of his own identity. The coaching staff hasn’t yet leveraged his strengths effectively. I believe he excels in a play-action, moving-pocket style, similar to Ryan Tannehill at his peak in 2019.
    In his first game, we saw the offense successfully employ motion to create deception and mismatches, pulling linebackers and safeties out of position for tight end and running back passes. Examples were motion right and the play goes play action left rollout left. These got the LB's and safeties out of position allowing TE and RB and WR to get open on short sit down routes to move the chains. Yes they lost the game but we saw great Offense in the first half. Then they went away from it. Returning to these strategies could benefit Levis significantly rather than having him sit in the pocket and wait for recievers to complete 12 - 15 year routes. The "chip away" type offense is best for Levis. And he can become a run threat as he has proven to be at time. Moving the pocket and getting the defense flowing one way and coming back to the other can benefit him as a QB.
    Bill Callahan’s offense seems better suited for a classic pocket passer like Joe Burrow, rather than a player like Levis. You saw how GB has tailored the offense to Malik Willis in discovering his identity in a way that highlights his abilities. If the coaching staff can help Levis find and embrace his strengths, by making the offense to benefit his abilities, we could see a turnarounds. Less plays, more deception and more sit-down routes that move the chains is what to do with Levis. Stop the Joe Burroughs want to be type of offense.

      I agree with a lot of this but the Love to Levis comparison is a bit of a stretch. Love sat for YEARS behind Rodgers (HoF QB) in an organization known for QB development before getting a chance to start. The whole time learning the same scheme he is running now. Levis hasnt had anything like that so to think he can make a leap like Love in a half of a season of games is not that realistic.
      Im not saying levis is bad im saying the Titans arent the organization the Packers are. They didnt have the luxury of sitting any young QB learning a consistent system from a consistent coach.
      At this point you either need to bench him for a while and develop him in the background hoping that in doing so it doesn't destroy his confidence or you gotta put up with all the bumps and bruises that come with learning on the job.
      Give Levis this year. If he is still making the really really really stupid mistakes by then you know what he is and look for a replacement for 2025. On the other hand if he shows hes only making first year starting mistakes and the god awful plays have minimized you have to go all in on him taking that Jordan Love sized leap sometime in 2025 season.
      Gino and Darnold are both proof that Teams are throwing kids to the wolves and then giving up on him way too quickly.
      Levis is either a solid QB in Tennessee in 2 - 3 years or somewhere else in 4 - 6 when he gets another chance like Gino and Sam.

All I want is the team being a team that people acknowledge and don’t think “why would anyone be a fan of the titans lol” all I want is to watch my favorite football team go out and have good players and play fun winning football. I genuinely believe that if we would have been able to keep the AJ Brown and Derrick Henry team we would be a respectable team now. Tennessee is such a big football state look at the vols they have one of the best fan bases in the whole country. Do you think that we’ll ever be able to have fun and be a respectable organization that people don’t always hate on. This is so tough man.

    I’m pretty upset. I had faith Malik could do that the whole time and was just waiting for someone in this organization to give him a shot. The day he went to the Packers I knew we made a bad move. Vrabel made the wrong decision getting Josh Dobbs on a fly by night contract with a Division II OL instead of giving Malik the reps and now we are paying for it. Historically and statistically this organization fails to develop rookie QBs well. The only exception I have seen in 20 years has been Marcus Mariota. Idk what it going on with the Titans and I still love them but I can’t say I am not very saddened by this team now. After listening to all the crap in the off-season about how they would be terrible and now here we are. It’s just depressing. It’s only week 4 and there is still time. But it doesn’t look good right now.

    Dang... as a Packers fan it was nice to see Willis come back and show what he can do. Also, as a Packers fan I have learned to appreciate the fact that the Packers have drafted or traded for QB's before we needed them over the years of Favre, Rodgers and now hopefully Love. I think the QB must have a full grasp of the offense in order to have any chance to succeed. Look around the league at young QB's or Vets, the ones who succeed are in tune with the play calling and play mentally fast and confident. I have been very impressed with Willis because he has looked confident and competent in only 4 weeks with the team. We have had a very rough time with back up QB's over the years and to have a guy go 2-0 could be a big part in this Packers team reaching some big goals and hopefully another SB for the Pack. Sooo... be patient with the QB if he has the skill set and look for the progression not the W's. Good luck Titans fans!
