Know What You Believe

  • Many Scriptures refer to the importance of hope. However, as important as hope is, it's not the same thing as faith. Hebrews 11:1 says that faith is the substance of hope. This means then, without faith, hope has no substance. The Bible says we walk by faith. It doesn't say we walk by hope. In Mark 11:24, Jesus didn't say that when you pray, to hope that you receive. He said believe. James didn't say to ask in hope. He said to ask in faith, nothing wavering. Jesus didn't say that all things are possible to him that hopes. He said in Mark 9:23 that all things are possible to him who believes. But many people are simply hoping and praying. They're praying and praying and praying. And often, even when they say they're believing, what they really mean is, they believe that God can. When they say they have strong faith, to many, it's simply strong faith that He's able. That's still not believing that it's done before you see it, according to specific Scripture that provides the answer. It's vital to have this specific confidence that God has heard and answered a prayer before there is any physical evidence. Let this message by Tony McCanless encourage you to know what you believe.
