I believe with the #1 success of justify my love she did this album heavily influenced from that song( with a lot of the music being spoken over beats). I do think if rain was released as an earlier single it would have propelled the album and to a more successful level . you also have to remember everything that Madonna did since 1984 shot to number one so she probably thought she could do no wrong and took a risk because Erotica is a different album but it remains my favorite next to American Life of all time. I really think fever and bad girl should have been scratched as Singles and replaced with rain

I think it was in an interview she did during the Madame X promotion. Madonna was asked if she will ever release the unreleased songs. She said she would think about it. But eventually in the near future that she would. So we can only hope and pray its soon before we all get too old. I'd hate to be an old fart in so.e senior citizen home. Lol

“Shame” would have made a good B side with some edits, but this is not record-worthy. Her vocals are alive, and the vibe is great, but substance and melody are lacking. God knows we have had enough of that since “Music.”
I don't think this song suits Erotica. It sounds more like a Cathy Dennis tune. So far Shame is the only one I think should have made it into the album.
