      Mazda 2 isn't offered in the US so they really don't care. It's a little tincan car but for the segment it's pretty much the best one. No CVT and standard navigation all electronic windows locks. Push button start. Apple car play and Android auto. The others in the segment don't even come with power windows and door locks base trim. Sad segment. For 17k just buy a 1-2 year old nice CPO car

    15 cubic feet trunk! Matches my old Golf. This is a great urban vehicle for parking. I have the sedan; 20 mile freeway drive after a cold start in 55-65 degree whether gives me 38 mpg outbound and (thanks to the engine still being warm after a quick lunch) 45 mpg coming back, averaging 65-70mph. From what I understand this runs in Atkinson cycle at low throttle loads and Otto cycle at high throttle loads. It's as fast as our 2014 Jetta was at full throttle, but instead of that deep growly exhaust roar (I'm imagining that) from the Jetta, the Yaris Sedan sounds like an angry vacuum cleaner. At normal throttle its sedate and accelerates fine. Look forward to one of your ever humorous followup reviews for KBB. I'm a big fan, you and Alex on Autos are top notch.

    • @squidproquo2241
      @squidproquo2241 5 лет назад

      @Ro0ster LOL! Long before you know about cars I was teaching what rebadging/badge engineering means to idiots like you. Here I go again;
      “Badge engineering occurs in the luxury-type market segments. An automobile manufacturer will use a model from its mainstream brand, upgrade it with more features, technology, luxury and/or style, then market it as a more expensive model under a premium marque. The luxury models may have more than just cosmetic differences; they may receive improved engines and drivetrains.
      An example of this is that the Ford Motor Company took its well-known Ford Fusion, and sold it as the Lincoln MKZ, or the Ford Expedition being sold as the Lincoln Navigator. Another example is General Motors rebadging the Chevrolet Tahoe, a shorter version of the Suburban, as the Cadillac Escalade and GMC Yukon. An example of "Fake Prestige" was the Cygnet city car marketed by Aston Martin, with a price of more than $45,000 in its most basic version, but the vehicle was actually the Toyota iQ and, except for the Cygnet's special trim and special luggage set, sold for $17,000.
      The business strategy of Volkswagen is to standardize platforms, components, and technologies, thus improving the
      firm's profitability and growth. For example, Audi uses components from their more pedestrian counterparts, sold as Volkswagen Group's mass-market brands. As an effort to place Audi as a "premium" marque, Volkswagen introduces new technologies in Audi-branded cars before fitting them to mainstream products (such as the Direct-Shift Gearbox). Nevertheless, Volkswagen uses platform sharing extensively. For example, the basic A platform underpins the Golf, Jetta, New Beetle, Audi TT and A3, SEAT Leon and Toledo, as well as the Škoda Octavia, while the "top end" D platform served the VW Phaeton and Bentley Continental GT in steel form, and the Audi A8 in aluminum form during the 2000s.”
      Fucking despicable piece of shit, do you think that I speak out of ignorance, do you think that I did not learn before I put a comment on a public domain? Fucking asshole, before you react, at least, show some decency and make a small research. Maybe you should learn yourself before telling others to go and learn. IDIOT.!!!

    *As a Toyota associate:*
    The Mazda 2 and Yaris Hatchback are really not the same car. Only the Yaris HB's platform is from Mazda, which is essentially the suspension to work the steering & handling. Yes, the rear looks like a Mazda 2, but what did you expect from a sub-compact hatchback?
    If you want a "sporty and practical" Toyota, please consider either the Corolla sedan or Hatchback (*SE or XSE*) for the 2.0L engine. It pushes 64hp more, has very similar fuel economy, *MANY* more amenities, and it's just a couple grand more. There is literally nothing good about the Yaris sedan or Hatchback, it's a bad vehicle.
    North America sales reports in the year 2018 show the Yaris only sold 21,374 units while the Corolla sold 214,371 units. Test drive the Corolla sedan and Hatchback, stay away from the Yaris.

All 2017-recent Prius (TSS-P was standard) models are expensive, even the Prius-C so that's out of the question and the Corolla, as cool as it looks, is large, so parking is going to be more difficult, plus it gets a little less MPG than the Yaris.

      But the 86 was Toyota's idea while Subaru wants no part of it it took them a few crucial year to get them on board but styling, tech, etc it's all Toyota. Even do it was built on a Subaru Factory

    I don’t know why this guy keeps on calling this a Toyota Yaris when in reality it is a Mazda 2 with a Toyota label, a model that is over 5 years old. Toyota is trying to trick ppl telling them it’s a new Yaris. Meanwhile the UK gets the real Toyota Yaris 2020. I don’t know why Toyota is doing this with Mazda and the new Supra BMW.
