In one play through I traded an axe for some meds because the other guy's dad was very sick and then I killed both of them with the same axe took all the meds, food and a gun. I cried that night.
+Gaming Hamst3r How about stealing the old couple on the Quiet House where they beg you not to steal them? I was bad as my cousin was stealing them (and laughing at the same time)
I have been playing this for damn near 5 months straight. It's simply amazing and has so much replay value. I highly recommend this to anyone who finds it even remotely interesting.
Yeah its such a cool game, ive played for about 3 years now,I discovered alot about this game and its just mind blowing. Then I started to find bugs and glitches to abuse to do speedruns. There is a few bugs you can do like restart by a day and not the whole story
Finally a review from IGN that is genuine. It's not another obviously fake review that they give to the big games so that they make money. On a different note, reading the comments saddens me. I've noticed video games are tending to have a lot less emotion and story to them, but to see the gamers hating on the idea of a game with story, emotion, and tactics is rather disheartening. I feel like games shouldn't be Michael Bay movies: all action, crappy plot, and that's about it. It should be more like a Christopher Nolan film: a fair mix of action and plot that also leaves you feeling slightly changed after the experience. Think what you might of the gameplay of Telltales' The Walking Dead, or Naughty Dog's The Last of Us, but I feel like these games are closer to a Nolan film than a Bay movie. I also think that those are the characteristics of a good game, not something that you just do for entertainment, but something you do to learn. Not learning in an academic purpose, but more like a life purpose. I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but I feel like I'd rather play games like this (This War of Mine) than other games that don't connect with the gamer (like Goat Simulator or most Call of Duty games of late). Thoughts?
Totally agree, I have a buddie who I have a tough time playing games with because his requirements are gameplay, gameplay, gameplay. Where as I would rather have story, good characters, and graphics in that order and it sucks that less and less games are catering to those requirement. Like assassin's creed I love the games but they have bean going downhill because of the outcry that the gameplay wasn't good enough enough and the story sucked and then they made the worst one (black flag) and everyone commended them for making a game with a dick for a main and no story.
For me the problem with emotions in games often is that they simply try too hard. I can't take that seriously. It has to be abstract and a little slower than "game starts, someone gets shot, oh shit! Now cry because it's sad when someone gets shot!" You know.
Superman13195 Spec Ops was a great story, but more akin to the psychological deconstruction of Apocalypse Now. I've been trying to think of a hollywood analogue for This War of Mine, but I really can't think of one.
This game was literally made by an anti-war foundation thing. You can literally donate to their cause at the bottom left of the menu. An anti-war foundation. Made a better game than EA or Activision could. The irony is too much!
It is one of the best survival games I have ever played. In a playthrough, in very tough period, I could make a guitar, and let Roman play that. Man, I was shivering with the sound of guitar. Who have not played the game, would never understand what I mean. I played several playthroughs for three-four days without doing anything else. Each character has a greater depth, I think wikia page of the game is not showing every bit of the game. And I like the "Autosave only" feature, though IGN gave a negative rating for this. Survival game should be like this. You have to deal with the consequences, and that's how you can play this game again and again. I just wished, places had more varieties, because after a while, you can't play the game anymore. But anyway, a great game. IGN should have given 9 out of 10.
YouAre NotSugoi , The way the he was reviewing the game sounded way more awesome than what I was actually seeing. You want a game were you have a fav character and doesn't die than go else where.
The game is pretty interesting. When I sat down to play hours went by in what felt like minutes. Only bad thing is you can only have one playthrough at a time, which sucks when you have 2 3 ppl who want to play it.

I feel like you should have atleast given this game a 9/10 IGN. The world of gaming needs more innovation. Call of duty, battlefield, they all have been long and sort of gone. They are just remakes each time. The first games really sparked it but this really started something. Just my opinion

It gets easier once you figure out what you really need and what you don't. If you can keep the flat heated your guys won't get sick as much. Or at all if they are well fed and not hungry. And then you can sell your meds to the right people for lots of other stuff. For example, you can go to the army base with some medical supplies and barter them for an automatic rifle, which will make it a lot easier to defend the flat at night. Or one bandage to the door salesman can give you 20-30 wood that you then don't have to endlessly scavenge for at night. And you can barter for those med supplies at the town square with the lady there for cheaps and barter it on again to other people for massive profit. There is an economy in this game if you can find it.

Now if they make this into a first person shooter/survival game it would sell like penis enlargement pills at comiccom. And maybe throw in a multi-player faction like feature to where you would run into other groups of people playing the game and make enemies or useful allies (kind of like Arma 2 day-z mod "clans") or at least a co-op function in the campaign. Don't get me wrong, the game looks fun and I give credit to the developers for doing something innovative but not a game I would necessarily want to buy right now.
This isn't just a game It's a work of art A political statement *It's a cry for humanity* The anti-war game that not many people know about This game show the perspective of the innocent people in war This war of mine - 2014 Edit: the game has come to it's last content update "The final cut" and i'm sad
i cant read such small i gane texts.didnt play divison cause of it. these descriptions(text) look small..i hope i can read them..anyways the game itself sounds interesting.would get it on sale .lets see
This isn't a review! you didn't criticize it at all, if you want to review the game. Don't talk about one thing about it, Go over many subjects. how are the controls? How is the engine? are there known bugs. ect. This "review" literally told me nothing useful other than the characters can get depressed.
Shut up Steve!! This is a game that makes u think about what you do. This game isn't focused on mechanics and on some stupid action oriented crap like call of duty.
Nathan Baltudis Every game has it's own style of mechanics. If you wanted to rely on story alone then make a movie. The fact that YOU brought up the Call of Duty franchise is completely unrelated and does not support your argument. All games have to rely on certain things such as story; game play; environments; ect. The only useful thing i got out of this video is that the story can be depressing depending on how you play it and that the levels are recycled with randomly generated loot and NPCs. Also giving a number review on a game is sloppy and is not a good form of reviewing a game. I am not bashing the game in any way. i am criticizing the way that the "review" was handled.
cons: no saving difficulty spikes yeah, war doesn't have these either for me it's an 11/10, going above and beyond on what a video game should be, entertainment, but also an art piece and a political, pacifist statement.
1) I'm pretty sure that that would cause depression for the characters 2) you monster!
9 лет назад+13
This generation sucks. Do you realize that the autosaves helps not to break the game and make it harder and with more purpose to every action right? Difficulty spikes? I'm sorry you were born in the late 90's, cause what made games awesome, and lets use wow vanilla for that, is that they were hard, but nowadays every kid whines if a game is too hard.
+Riley Westwood well you cant replay your lost life, can you? thats why they have chosen this way.war is hell, and each decision has its own consequences...
Michael Maxwell Yeah, you're characters are basically trying to best you survive until the warring factions declare a ceasefire, which takes about 30 days.
Thanks for review, now I'm certain I should not buy this game, simply because of morality system. To me in a survival game, you take everything you can and kill who ever is in the way. If that would still make me loose even though I have all the resources then I don't want to play this game.
In my playthrough i was scavenging and some dude shot me.. I rushed him with my knife and managed to kill him.. Then i tok all of his friends stuff and left them there to die.... But even though i nearly died from the bullet my survivors still got depressed for killing... Thats just stupid.... And i really think you should have the choice of eating human meat and attacking people who comes to you for trade..... Okay game, but i hate that there are no grey areas, just black and white... And if you do bad stuff your survivors give up on life.. So actually there is only one choice and that is to be a bleeding heart hippie who would never survive in real life... I want to build up and army of cannibal raiders who have gladiatorial fights every night for fun and to decide who gets eaten... And if i could keep people alive for 3-4 days while i was eating them that would be amazing.... But still, its a okay game..
This not a post apocalyptic game it's a game where you are just regular people taking shelter trying to survive how are you supposed to do gladiatorial fights when there is a war going on.
In one play through I traded an axe for some meds because the other guy's dad was very sick and then I killed both of them with the same axe took all the meds, food and a gun. I cried that night.

Go play cod.
I mean, Dayz has some pretty intense moments very rarely. There has been times where I question my morality, but then again the moments are very rare.
TJ4774 you're asking for a whole separate game
Best indie style game ever.
I got this game on phone and it is probably the best iOS game out there
Who’s here because item went on sale in the Nintendo Shop?
Autosaves only? I think this kind of game shouldn't have a save feature at all. Continue from current state only!
How awesome would it be if this game were multiplayer
Your surname is Zacny ? wow im jealous and impressed
Shit I really wanna play this now.
Is this worth the buy on iOS? Or should I get it on my Mac?
Logan Rowland
Get it for your Mac.
This game was way ahead of its time. Pretty much predicted the current war in Ukraine.
This isn't just a game
It's a work of art
A political statement
*It's a cry for humanity*
The anti-war game that not many people know about
This game show the perspective of the innocent people in war
This war of mine - 2014

Well dude if you want another peace of art play there game frostpunk it has the feel of this war if mine
@@thechunguses yeah i've already know about it but still thanks for reminding me

Some people here have terrible taste in games.
is there any other games on android similar to this game that is free or cheaper? anyone?
Does this game play like Fallout Shelter on iOS?
stucazzo2000 In a way, yes.
I am not bashing the game in any way. i am criticizing the way that the "review" was handled.
the game is fun but aggravating as hell at times...you either take it as a personal challenge to survive or you don't play
OneLoneLegend wtf does hat have to do with what I was talking about.
hahahaha
I don't know what to get
Superhot which is the $25
OR
This war of mine which is $30
Which one you picked?
I guess he got neither. How sad.
Why are your inhales so audible? Cant hear anything except this now
Does this game has platinum trophy in ps4??
cons:
no saving
difficulty spikes
yeah, war doesn't have these either
for me it's an 11/10, going above and beyond on what a video game should be, entertainment, but also an art piece and a political, pacifist statement.
Wow will it come to consoles
Who else came here from epic games?
Is it yours forever or after a trial period you have to buy the game?
@@leandromartinez2278 Yours forever
Jesus bless you
i always try to kill my way trough this game. no people = no problem
1) I'm pretty sure that that would cause depression for the characters
2) you monster!
I think what he means by difficulty spikes is you cant adjust the difficulty so its not for everyone :D. chill out man
+Riley Westwood well you cant replay your lost life, can you? thats why they have chosen this way.war is hell, and each decision has its own consequences...
Does each game have a finite end?
Michael Maxwell Yeah, you're characters are basically trying to best you survive until the warring factions declare a ceasefire, which takes about 30 days.
How do you rate a game with an autosave feature, which makes your decisions more important as a bad thing. Save scumming bastards.
This not a post apocalyptic game it's a game where you are just regular people taking shelter trying to survive how are you supposed to do gladiatorial fights when there is a war going on.
vovka murla There is always room for gladiatorial fights.. War or no war, people always finds a way...
It is legal to shoot trespassers even in peacetime.
Still better than the last of us
Two different genres
There both amazing games.
Meen Arstotzka NO.
The con that you cannot save is stupid dude that is the point 1 life each and if you blow it you are done!!!
That's the point, makes everyone's life worth something
It's so it's not like fallout where you can just save every 5 seconds so if you make a bad choice or get close to dying you can just reload a save.
Who wants this game but lives in RUSSIA?
Got a key for it but it's region locked to only RUSSIA.
email:.............................
ASAp tho
This war of mine > fallout shelter
I dont think you know what a review is
I don't think you know what Commentary is
8.4 out of 10 - too much thought
