My pain daily with customers. Education is needed
Hes right. If you got a customer that cant use Adobe I or PS, chances are you are going to have an uphill battle. Only having Canva and thinking you're going to be successful in this business is not going to happen.
My thing with anything do your own research. Problem with social media is we don't believe in fundamentals. We just follow success.
Canva can export to many files including SVG and PDF as vectors. You have to pay for it/pro version. Also part of your role is to educate your customers not berate them. Look at any pro shops-they make support material and a check list for their clients. That’s why they hire you. You gotta cut your rants down- you’re repetitive and not expanding on your points. I like videos but keep it concise. I’ve been in professional print for over 30 years. Customers have never known. Or just don’t accept that job if it doesn’t fit your hustle and feel it’s a waste of your time. Lots of other out there who will do it and be happy.
The customer might have had the free version. The paid you should be able to knock out the background and up down grade the resolution
Not the customer the graphic designer lol. That’s the issue.
Hey- before Canva they were using Microsoft Publisher and Word- be thankful if you weren’t around for those days.
You can export as svg and click transparent background in Canva. I then take file and place in AI.
How and what AI do you use? Why do you place the file in AI? thanks
@@mooseclod89 He's talking about Adobe Illustrator.
Adobe Illustrator- not artificial intelligence. Guess people will have to start saying Illustrator instead of AI now…
If you don't have a business version you will be limited and that's the biggest problem.
Spot on. Nobody ever knows how files work and which ones they need to use which is understandable but if your designing in canva for somebody you better be able to know what you're doing lol. 99% of the time for my clients they have no idea what files to send. A handful of clients have just shared their graphic with me through Canva and was able to figure it out from there. Smh lol
Alot of customers are not telling you that they are using the trial version half of the time an also alot of people don't tell you that they are Beginners This happens to me all the time
Yesss!!! Ugh went thru this today with a client. Canva doesn't do the end user any justice & tricks the beginner into thinking they're doing the right thing for specific graphics.
Canva is not a one stop shop, sometimes other software may be needed, imo
I can agree! I started using canva when I first started making t shirts for quick designs when I didn’t feel like using photoshop lol. But I 100% feel you when you say you prefer your customers to already have their designs ready.
I have worked in the Sign Industry for 39 years and to this day many
customers, some designers and many many crafters do not know
what a vector file is or how to export one for output to a vinyl cutter,
laser cutter or printer. I understand your frustration with people not
understanding the basics of production graphics and how to use these
stripped down software packages.
.
Crazy thing is that they can do it to some extent, but it ain’t our job to figure it out for them. Charge them and move on.
Most places i ahve worked will charge $85 an hour to fix their files.@@StanBanks
Wrong- it is the shops job- guess you got too much business entire departments are dedicated to pre-flirting jobs and making jobs print ready. If you’re a one man show then it’s all on you. Maybe time to hire a pre-press person.
she didn't have the pro version and she wasn't educated
It’s worth learning charge em extra to fix it. I have the pro version and I just learned everything that made it seamless. You’re limited on the free version and canva has printing within the software so I can see how majority of ppl don’t know. But charge them to fix it and I’ll bet you they will learn real quick.
I charge them to fix it but I do it in illustrator. But I feel you,
Do you hear what you are saying? You are telling people to go back and learn the basic. Then you turn around and say you don't know how to work Canva. You have to take your own advice. For people who don't know how you should be able to walk them through it.
They are being like you don't want to learn what you need to know.
I’m not sure why I would need to learn it when I know it. Basics have nothing to do with what program you use.
Canva is not a program that use, but if you know the basics you can pretty much figure out how to get what you need out of any program. It’s not on me to tell a graphic designer how to use the program they choose to design in.
They’re not Graphic Designers- surely you’re aware of this?. They are people who want to save some money, don’t want to get deep into learning design software and like being creative. And want a few shirts. Hope they find someone mature and professional to help them work through it.
I’m laughing at 4:50 cause he ain’t lien those designers are trash.
I just stopped paying for Canva, its cute but when it comes down to getting real quality work done and making the updates you need for today's game, THEY ARE NOT READY
I’ve made big bread from Canva y’all just lack the education probably.
@thecreativenetwork87 yeah not sure how much you watched of this video lol
Have your clients that send you bad art send it to me and I’ll have it press ready for you.
