Nice job! Looks great
Beautiful outcome I hope you make a video of the process I just got the AL37 and would love to do this as well. Some flitemetal on the leading edges would really make it pop
You also mentioned that you’re changing out the wheels on the main gear to Dubro low bounce, are you changing out the nose gear wheels as well and if so what size?
Do you remember the part numbers for the rubber tires you showed in the other video?
So... that looks great. LOL I read your Bio on here, you sound like me.. Mechanic, collision tech, motorcycles. I'm retired due to lung cancer all good now. I have several questions about your airliner. Have you flown it yet? What is the total weight minus the batteries? How does it fly with the extra weight? I was wanting to do the same thing.
I have not flown it yet. Feels light and strong though. The fiberglass adds hardly any weight. I quit auto body work due to health risk but still work on my own stuff.
I’ve never fiberglassed an aircraft using minwax polyacrylic, so my question is this. I assumed you applied the polyacrylic using a foam brush but did you scrape off the excess with a squeegee or did you just leave it on there and then sanded later?
No need to scrape of excess. Since water based dries thin. Epoxy does not thin out and then you need to remove the excess. I applied 3 to 4 coats gloss polyacrylic and lightly scuffed before painting.
Thank you sir I appreciate the info! Did you apply primer before painting?
I look forward to the second build and maiden flight!
