Okkkk, I love this bow, this will be my first real bow I think after snake. The sound it makes is delicious, like the thwap of a very gentle whip and it looks to spit arrows almost effortlessly. It's GORGEOUS! Thank you Armin🙏❤
Judging by the sound, this bow loves heavier arrows, which surprised me, given how slight it is. Absolutely beautiful, can't wait to get one of my own.
Nice bow, Armin. You shooting an Asian bow with a castle like building in the background (see the crenellated wall) almost harkens back to those Tartar vs European wars in the old days. Nice touch.
I don't mind being Insane as long as I can shoot Insanely like you with Xuanwu! 35" draw length really makes Armin looks insane! With all Insanity, again thank you Armin and Ali Bow that keeps innovating and making insane bows.
Looks Awesome. We really enjoy seeing you make such a happy review. ALIBOW make Bows with great performance, when you shoot them you look Super Hero😀✌ thanks for the review Mr. Armin🎯
Seems to be amazingly versatile! For my taste, long draw and heavy arrows are the perfect pair which had me looking at the Qinghai laminate (I have it in fiberglass and it's been a joy to shoot). Now, this one has caught my eye.
If you were to choose a single Alibow laminate bow for maximum versatility of style, draw length, and use with a wide range of arrow lengths and weights, would this be one? ;-)
Ok.. I got the Tatar.. I got the Yarha, I got the Keshig... can you please hold it on on good Alibow reviews for a while so I can spend my money on some other builder for a change ;)?
Longnose Archery You should try Kaiyuan and Ming emperor bow. If you are a turkish bow user Ming bows will feel familiar bcus Ming dynasty bow had a lot western asian turkic/persian influences.
I think I'll take you up on that. Thanks for the info. I like the style of both and the longer draw would be awesome. My Turkish bio and my L2 Tartar only draw 32". Thank you.
How does the Xuanwu compare to the Qinghai? I'm looking to try pulling to my ear to about 33 inches and am trying to decide which bow to get. These two are among my top options so far
I’ve watched a certain number of your archery videos and I didn’t know why I had a taste of Daoism. Now it’s confirmed ^^. By the way, have you ever heard of a daoist style of archery ?
I think that would be an awesome comparison it's one of my favorite bows from sarmat maybe if I can afford one I could send it to you first for the comparison.
Beautiful bow, very impressive! Armin, the smile on your face is fabulous, like a kid with a new toy. :))) A little question : you still do not twist the string to protect it (it is mechanically more resistant)? Only to adjust the recommanded brace height?
Your videos are extremely informative and I truly enjoy them. Do you by chance make instructional videos on archery basics and especially your style of shooting? I’ve enjoyed archery for years and prefer the primitive style bows, one thing that stood out to me about your style is how quickly you release at full draw, I like this. Could you possibly elaborate regarding this technique. Thank you and keep up the great work.
Thanks for the review. Hoping you'd do one on this bow. I've been debating between this and the Tibetan. I was wondering, between the two what bow would be your first choice? I agree with you that the nock seems a bit shallow. Would that present problems later as the bow ages?
I'm thinking of getting this bow.. Only being a beginner i'm kinda troubled by the string tips falling off if something goes wrong, which kinda leads me towards getting the kheshig or the segye (segye kind of short for my taste, but seems to be the sturdiest of all). What do you guys think?
Like everybody else here, I love your videos and reviews and they are costing me as well!... Much to the chagrin of my wife I am getting a quiver (all puns intended) of bows...
Armin I'm curious what stuffing you using for the bag that you used at speed shooting? It's very quiet when the arrow hits it. I'm looking to build a quiet indoor target. Thanks.
@@ArminHirmer Well, I was thinking that there would be no point in getting a bow for someone that is meant to be drawn to 36" if that person isn't physically large enough to draw the bow to anywhere near that length. The problem is, I can't measure this person without giving away what I'm up to, but I know their height (64"). Perhaps no one has ever tried to calculate such a ratio, but there is an upper limit to how far a person can draw a bow (assuming physical strength is not a limitation). For example, a person 70" tall could never draw a bow back 75" (even if they're part orangutan), because they just won't have the wingspan to do it. My guess is that such a person's limit might be 37-38", but I don't know.
What do you mean "I THOUGHT I liked the Kheshig"?!? 😂 With a little luck I'll be holding it in my hands next month. I hope to Archery gods I will 😁 Awesome review as usual. All said and done, which one of the two would you prefer, though?
what makes this bow so good? lightweight siyah? or long size etc? alibow is offering this one with tatar or qinghai siyah too but maybe that would alter the performance too much. what do you think?
There is no one best design but in terms of pure performance (storing/releasing energy) the korean one is probably as good as you can get with natural materials. These bows have super crisp release, amazing flex, weight/poundage and poundage/speed ratios. They're also super compact which makes them perfect for horseback archery and transport (they're very short and when unstrung they form an oval or a circle lol), people at ranges who haven't seen one often laugh at them because they look like they're for children. Jaws drop when you draw to 32-33" lol :D That's also my main issue with them - that long draw length is crucial to korean bow's performance - its limbs are short and not very wide so they have to flex more to store maximum power, and I can't really draw further than 31,5". There's one huge drawback: maintenance. Every stringing/unstringing takes a lot of time and effort because you have to "warm up" the bow or it will just break, and if you have no experience with doing it using your feet, you have to invest in additional piece of equipment (pretty much a form for shaping these bows) and some clamps :v Not to mention that biocomposites require proper cleaning and storage (it won't last long at peak performance in southern asia for example) and tend to twist. To prevent this you may try to find someone who makes mongolian/korean hybrids - mongolian bows tend to have very wide limbs which prevents twisting. PS For everyday practice I use mongolian and tatar (pretty much scaled down mongolian).
@@ArminHirmer ty for the quick answer, then i have another question: which Hornbow can you recommend? (thumbdrawing, no arrorhold, round about 45 lbs, price between 200-600€) ty for your answer
If the choice was between the kheshig or Xuanwu, which one would you recommend and why? I am an instinctive archer drawing 45#. Have the snake bow, but now looking for a serious horse bow.
Thanks Armin for another great demo. Now that my Slick Stick plan got thumbed (pun thoroughly intended) I am very convinced by your excitement for the Xuanwu. I dont want to look back at Club med style and thanks to your detailed tutorials I am surprised how quick I went from I dont want to learn this to being confident and quick with thumb release in a couple of days. Lovely bow and review! Hope all the kitties are ok!
A great looking bow, Armin. Flaxen Saxon
I like the way this one looks better than the kheshig. It has narrower limbs than the wide kheshigs

a bit of twist is okay to do minor adjustments. I simply shoot first time as is :D
What era bow it is?
not sure

Yes I might do a video about that
Could you make a list of your favourite bös?
will try
Any problems yet with the narrow string notch?
works still perfect
So, stupid question coming up, firing multiple arrow at once, how ineffective is it and more importantly would it damage the bow?
does no damage, but slows the arrows down a lot and it is not overly accurate. I my opinion useless :D

35 or 40# kheshig, Xuanwu....
Armin Hirmer Thank you
Is there a rough rule of thumb for estimating based on a person's height how long using a thumb draw a person's maximum draw length would be?
not that I am aware of, as it depends a bit how long you want to draw, unless you want to keep your anchor point as in modern archery.
