VII was the first one I ever saw on the shelf and there are still bottles on the shelf. Hoping to find VIII soon. You could call me a Ross & Squib juice fan boy, particularly their high rye.
I really enjoyed VII. Nice easy sweet cherry. Not overly complex but very good. I picked up VIII but haven’t cracked it. Thanks for the review. Cheers!
I could have sworn you listed Remus Repeal Reserve in the video of bourbons you said you wouldn't be buying anymore, but looking back at that video now, I was wrong. I've only ever had VII, but I liked it enough to buy it more than once (at $110), so I'm looking forward to buying and trying VIII.
Finally found a bottle in stock, and while I only have the VII to compared it to (which I liked a lot), the VIII is surprisingly better. They also had a Remus gift box containing the V, VI and VII, which was tempting, but Inreally just wanted to try the VIII. It did not disappoint - I’d buy it again.
Most tasting classes will tell you to use both nostrils because you will get different notes. Also nose the glass towards the top of the rim and then the bottom. And to leave your mouth slightly open. I would say it's impactful if you focus.
I picked one up yesterday in Missouri for $82. At that price, I think I'll go back today and get a back-up (or one for my bourbon friends back in Maryland who can't find this...)
I can definitely see it sitting around on shelves. That started happening with 6 since they raised the price significantly on that one and it was nowhere near as good as 5. Still sometimes see 6 sitting on shelves even today. Around here most places are charging around $120 for release 6 and 7 so they just sit. Interested in seeing if this new batch comes in cheaper than the previous two or not.
Been seeing batch 7 sitting on shelves for months and months, where I NEVER saw any of the previous batches, period. I like batch 7, but wasn't blown away by it. Hopefully I can get my hands on batch 8.
I saw The RR 7 was still on the shelves here locally last week. I think the market for blended whiskey even with a higher age is where there is a lot of it in the market. Now I love what Remus does but K Luke, Barrel even Little Book etc all are blending with higher age stuff so there is a lot of options on the market.
I'm a big fan of the RRR releases. I have the II, V, VI, VII and VIII. The VIII is a REALLY easy sipper but I thought it was kind of lacking in depth compared to previous releases. Planning to do a blind of them this weekend to see how it does.
I definitely pick up different things with each nostril. My right one invariably gets way more subtle notes, tiny scents, fleeting bits of this or that... like nosing in 4k vs 1080P. 😂 Batches 2-4 were killer, nothing fancy, 11-12yo... 5 was special for sure, but those were honestly just as good. If we got that every time (with something like V for the anniversary blends) I'd have no complaints at all. Save the 7yo juice for regular Remus, IMO.
Ross and Squib lol we all know MGP but to be fair....sounds amazing hopefully I can get one here in Ohio being a control state. I work so finding stuff is hard because I don't get off til the afternoon and all the taters already hit it up lol the struggle of being a working man
I just picked up a VII. Good, drinks a little hot, not sure its a $90-ish bottle for me when there are some NDPs that are doing MGP juice so well. I'll be looking for VIII (wait, didn't I say I was going to buy LESS whiskey?!?)
Also I always thought the batch 3 was my favorite the 5 was great but the 3 was awesome for what is was and if given a chance I would buy batch 3 myself
Paid $120 and don’t feel ripped off. Well aged/blended, premium non barrel proof whiskey is hard to come by. I’d put this in the realm of WT101 12 year and Blue Run Trifecta while being significantly cheaper than either in the US.
What would you call these limited time offering bottles with blends of different age whiskies? Four roses limited edition, little book, etc.. premium blended American Whiskies??
With Blantons being nearly $80 in Ohio this is a NO BRAINER at $100. When people pay high prices for Elmer T Lee this is a sleeper for true whiskey fans.
@@richsimpkins8745 I usually buy one to drink and one as a backup. Except for V; I loved that one so much I bought it every time I saw it plus I traded for more before word got out, lol. I think that was $90 in Ohio.
Turned to NCF? Doesn't Chill Filtration happen before the whiskey hits the barrel? Also with the high price of Remus Repeal Reserve it's a premium offering and premium today means Cask Strength unless that blend is just out of this world. And 6 and 7 were just...well they should have cut the price to not premium because they were meh. Or something more with the bottle.
Picked up one of these today in St Louis for $69! I can’t wait to try it. 😊
Great to hear a return to form! Remus Repeal used to be a must buy, but that changed after Edition V.

I have a bottle on the way, can't wait to try. I'm here thinking I had releases 5 and 6. I have 6 and 7 🥴. Nice review, cheers.

Popped RRRVIII yesterday. Very nice on a fresh crack. I get a lot of spice on it and love the cherry note.
Great review Jason! I loved the 7 and there's a Meijer store in Michigan that still has 5 bottles of it. I've bought 3 of them already.

Here in Virginia this is retailing for $120 - which I will not be paying.
VIII was absolutely a home-run, best offering since V and actually holds its own against it.
Selling for $85 near me. As a Remus fanboy I of course picked one up.
Great Review, I was on the shelf to be honest after the 7. I will grab this one and Review on the channel
I saw it today in CA Total Wine for 120.00, didn’t pull the trigger on it because I hadn’t watch a review of RR 8.
Chill filtering makes a huge difference, definitely explains why 6 and 7 are still sitting around the shelves everywhere
Good one, I’ll see if I can find it.

$119.99 here in Virginia

Would you have any suggestions for a bourbon for a hurricane party? Great show as always! Cheers!
Nostril dominance cycles over time.
It’s $89. Here in San Francisco Bay are
When will you be trying the Gatsby 2024?
I thought 7 was pretty good. I'd buy 8 in a heartbeat at MSRP.
Picked up VIII for $89

Remus is a decent pour, but as you said, I can’t bring myself to buy it at $100 when I know I can get Bardstown Disco 11/12 for just a few bucks more
Hugging my 2 unopened bottles of 5 while watching
Still have like 80% of my bottle of V left

Still nursing RR III
Still my favorite batch, even over V, although barely.
V vs VIII ?
Still V

@@Drammersunited yeah. Premium blended whisky or bourbon. Or just blended bourbon.
Just snagged one for 89 doll hairs
Nice
Always looks good but never pulled the trigger

It’s $110 in Ohio; the only reason I haven’t bought a backup. I think Jason just convinced me. My local has had a couple of cases for over a week.
@@ranman1959 I’m in Ohio as well. I always grab back ups of these. But VIII im going to grab a couple.

$120 in VA, which is what I paid. It’s good, but not $120 good. It’s 75-80 good imo. I won’t buy it again.
Wholesale cost in MD is $100 🤦

VII was good...but one of the weakest versions. IV is the peak...so delicious. V was the second best.
V was one of my top ever. VI and VII disappointed me greatly. On the fence for this one
Is it worth 120$ ??? not so sure about that... its a pass for me.
