Greetings, Ant Lovers! I couldn't believe shooting this video gave me goosebumps and brought about tears. Hope you enjoy this episode and learned something from our ant isolation experiment! So what should we name our solo ant?
When defeated by the allied ant colonies, she isolated herself in her shelter where she committed suicide, escaping justice for all the ants she put in concentration farms.
AC: _Ant lays motionless, there was no work to be done, no babies to feed, no food to collect... her life has no longer any meaning_ Ant: Finally, a vacation 🏖️
The scariest thing is since she was isolated, her scent became different and other ants thought she was an enemy and attack her.. that would be utterly saddening 😭
Because our monkey brains are programmed to anthropomorphize the emotional state (which, ants don't even really have proper emotions) of everything we encounter. It's a pleasant feeling.
I think it’s because it couldn’t smell her hive anymore so she might have thought her antennas were dirty and that cleaning them thoroughly would allow her to smell the way back home
All you people in comments try to give ants emotional complexity it can never have. It is extremely unlikely they are even conscious. Insects are biomachines, with really primitive CNS.
Me: accidentally steps on an ant. "oops" Ants Canada: we need to make sure this single ant does not get depression. Edit: ok fr stop liking this its not even that good.

Generally, animals with faster metabolic rates (smaller animals) perceive time as slower as compared to animals with slower metabolic rates (bigger animals). If we consider that time perception is relative to their lifespans, this should mean that the lifespans of humans and ants should be proportional (840 ant hours ∝ 692040 human hours). What's left is to determine how much time 12 ant hours is in human hours. The math is done above. It's basically [(ant hours) x (human lifespan)] / (ant lifespan) = (human hours). The answer is 9886 hours and I converted it to the format years, months, days, and hours. Now if you excuse me, I have 5 minutes to spend to do whatever the hell I want. @@byzantiphile7630 well. We can't prove they have the more complexer emotions. However, each of these emotions is simply just chemicals. This means we can't disprove emotions in these insects. I had the same thought, there was an experiment about wasps I read about, least I think it was wasps. Dots on the face indicated rank in the hierarchy, the scientists gave a wasp dots indicative of higher status, and the wasp got attacked. When giving a wasp dots that indicated it was of lesser social status, it got attacked. Regarding ants, I read about someone giving an ant smells from an enemy ant colony, and I think it got attacked. (think, meaning I read about it once long ago and memories fade over time.)
@@TheClimbingBronyOldColt Yeah that can confuse their smell there's an ant that all the brood can lay fertilized eggs but what they did its they born look for an ant colony and fight the queen once the queen died the invasive ant shower on the dead queen guts to smell like her and the colony start treating her like their queen thinking the queen won and throw the body out of the colony
It was really wholesome actually, when I first clicked, I was initially worried this guy would lock the ant in a box until it died. Ants have lives too, and while I'm not vegan, forcing unnecessary suffering upon it would be very cruel.
@Benazir Fernandes let me rephrase what I said earlier. Sometimes, the donations will have several restrictions, such how much is minimum that can be given. Sometimes, it's either give actual donations, or give it in money, with the minimum of ₱100.

Peleus is the PERFECT name for this ant. Peleus was a king of Myrmidons, which means ant-men in Greek. Best known for being the father of Achilles, we see in the play Andromache that is all alone after outliving his son, grandson (Neoptolemus), and all the other Myrmidons. These Myrmidons include a companion of his named Phoenix, which is also the name of your ant colony. So we're naming this ant Peleus, alright?
I think the ant will spend the entire time trying to get home...even at the expense of its own life. What a big relief that the ant didn't die! It was super cool that she knew to take care of herself before trying to find home again. I didn't know ants check up on each other like that, it was so sweet!
Read Quran verse 27 talks about ants with cool 93 chapters eg:- "And those who don't believe in the after life we have made their deeds pleasing to them wondering blindly and lost like the ants" He is rediscovering the wheel"😂😂😂😂🖐👎
I feel a little weird typing this, but when i was little, there was an ant scurrying across the sink. I just stared at it, talking to an ant. While i was an imaginative kid, i wondered if ants could drown. So i took one and splashed around some water while it was inside... I felt bad after about five seconds and removed it. It definitely wasn't moving so i blew at it, and used my nail to give it CPR, but it didn't work. After that, I was sad that I killed it... but after about ten minutes of watching, it suddenly woke up! I was glad It only passed out. Then, It's friend approached and it looked like they were reunited.

Pretty sure Mickey was scared too when they swarm around her. I was kind of readying myself for them to tear her apart thank goodness that did not happen...
Never thought I'd find ants too interesting, figured they acted fairly robotic and purely as a hive-mind. Fascinating to see the intelligence of each individual.
Something interesting I found out was when you blow on a group of ants, they scatter to make it harder for all of them to get eaten (which is what they assume is happening)

I'm not an ant person, never liked bugs, but THIS!! This guy makes the whole ant colony seem like a TV show... dramatic. Which is amazing!! As an aspiring biologist, i love the whole video. It makes me appreciate ants in a way I've never known. If that makes sense!
Well if you have an actual passion for biology academia will do its best to destroy that. It's one of the most politicized fields in science, to the point of promoting falsehoods and blacklisting anyone that doesn't follow along with the program. The progressively lower standards combined with the aforementioned has greatly eroded what once could be called "higher education".
If you a biology person, you must be interested in any life form in this world. Im a biotechnologist, but i love insect and sometimes me and my friends going out and catch some bugs and beetles just to identify its species and for some of my friend, as a collection. I'm never a bug person but I'm not gonna lie, catching bugs is a fun thing.
I'm glad your experiment didn't run longer. Had she lost all the scent, there's a real possibility she would have been destroyed by the others. One time, in taking a flock of chickens to my mother, I was exhausted and instead of taking them all to the barn, left a few in the car port where I would turn them out in the morning to be with their friends. In the barn, there was a rooster, and his brother was separated overnight by being in the carport. In the morning, I opened up the cage and let them all loose, and let the ones in the barn out. They needed to forage for the day, as these are free run chickens. However, the brothers immediately started to attack each other, and were trying to kill each other! It seems that they no longer recognized each other because they didn't sleep in the same place over night. Now, it's a known thing that roosters fight, but these boys had been in the same flock of 12 chickens for their whole lives. The hens didn't fight with each other. But these brothers fought. I thought it was question of putting them to sleep in the same place at night. So, that night I put one of them in a cage in the barn, and the rest in the barn. They would all wake up together, and I hoped they'd be friends! Just in case, though, one of them was in a cage because I didn't want them attacking each other the next morning before I let them out. This experiment did NOT work. They were enemies for the rest of their lives. When I saw what you were doing to the ant, I was fearful that this would happen. They definitely knew the ant was different, but thankfully, 12 hours wasn't enough to wipe all of the smell off. Poor little thing. I'm happy that she was finally reunited with her family!
They acted like they new she was missing and were so happy to see her again, she was so excited to see them ,she was happy to get right back to work and showed them where the mother lode of sugar was!🐜🐜🐜♥️🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜♥️♥️🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜♥️🐜🐜🐜♥️
I was thinking about that lone fire ant who bit me on my toe while I was minding my own business, sitting on my front porch. My toe which itched profusely, then blistered up all the way around. I remember how I had to have bandages applied for several weeks while it healed. I remember the satisfaction of pouring boiler water over it's colony that day after I was bit. I noticed the colony had move slightly and I spent the next 4 days pouring boiling water on the anthills hoping the ants were suffering more than I was. They were 👍👍👍RIP!!!

@@TheClimbingBronyOldColt
Yeah that can confuse their smell there's an ant that all the brood can lay fertilized eggs but what they did its they born look for an ant colony and fight the queen once the queen died the invasive ant shower on the dead queen guts to smell like her and the colony start treating her like their queen thinking the queen won and throw the body out of the colony

Oh yes! Ants are quite intelligent and amazing at cooperating as a team!
