Ngl but the 2.5 liter 4 cylinder sounds a lot better than the 2.0, that’s on the Maverick, and the 2.3, which is of course the only awful sounding 4 cylinder I ever heard on the Mustang Ecoboost
Strange how the rear bumper seems to be part of the rest of the body and not detachable. I'm not seeing any lines. Not sure if that's a good thing. Also, it pretends to have the stripping at the bottom along the sides by the shape of it, but it's really just part of the body again. It doesn't offer the protection that the other SUVs give you. Also more scratch prone. Cars are always designed to start to rot and fall apart at around the 10-12 year old mark. Every car is intended to end up at the wreckers not long thereafter. This is no exceptions. Where are the traps? That body along the bottom sides is a trap for one. This is clearly done to save on manufacturing cost. And that is, of course, not something that's passed onto the consumer, but for profit. Prices aren't based on manufacturing costs, but on what the industry was able to standardize in terms of cost. Like an SUV of this size ought to cost such and such. People are conditioned that it is at a given level. No manufacturer that figure out how to make one for 5 grand less, is going to sell it at 5 grand less. Anyway, the PHEV doing around a standard 8 seconds which is practically every compact SUV does. The Rogue with the VC Turbo does this for example. Regular CR-V does it. Regular RAV-4 same. You'd figure that with electric help you get a little extra punch, but not with the Escape. Fuel economy wise, the Escape is decent though. Unfortunately, the price tag is too high for it to save money. It takes too long, even in EV mode, to start really saving. And electricity is not free. Too many people "feel" and electric is kind of sort of super cheap and free-ish even, but no. Cheaper than gas, yes, but not free. One might save, say 7 dollars per 100 km. Great. But drive it 15k per year and that's only a thousand dollars saved per year. If the car costs 10 grand more (after incentives), then you'd need to drive it 10 years before you finally start saving money. And you'd have to do all that 15k all in EV mode, and that's not going to happen. So it's a bit of a toy, really. It feels smarter, and you can brag how you can do errands all electric, but smarter people know it's a gimmick. The ones having one will defend it to the teeth. All I have to do is look at the actual real world take home cost to drive one off the lot (aka, not looking at just MSRP on dealer websites), and I know that in my mind I got the last word.
Wow, neither of those models deserve to have the ST Line badging. The PHEV was really slow, when compared to even the MG HS +EV and that's a lot cheaper.

That exhaust is an absolute deal-breaker for me. It sounds loose and tinny.
I don’t know how Ford will ever be able to recover from this……..

I mean it’s plug in hybrid family SUV with a CVT, not a Focus RS, so I think the exhaust note probably wasn’t one of their priorities here
