If I told you I was considering a job in Woking... what would you say?
Depends on where you come from - Woking's not a 'pretty' place so if you like rural life, it might not be for you - but it's handy for London and more importantly, Thorpe Park! 🤣 I grew up in a village just down the road from Woking and I'd happily move back for a couple of years. 👍
Lived there during the mid 2000's before moving back to the States. Brings back memories of shopping at Peacock Mall and Sainsbury's in Wosley Place. Lickety Split and Nando's was one of my fave spot us to eat. I think they closed Pete's Chinese Buffet which was a popular Saturday night spot. And we definitely had some nice Saturday morning full english breakfasts at Whetherspoons. Woking looks kinda different from when I lived there. I alwayed enjoyed my walks on Basingstoke Canel.
When lockdown has done and gone...I will return to Woking ...but it isn’t the Woking I remember way, way back when! It was a pretty little town where people knew each other and where as a child I could wander about the streets,......safely! A few cars, buses....but I could still hear the sparrows chattering in ‘sparrow park’.

Lived here long back. Brings lots of memories. The peacock centre, train station. Such a nice place.

Ahh this is my hometown but I moved out to the south coast worthing in the start of the 90s when they were still building the peacocks shopping centre it’s improved loads since the 80s
Famous for McLaren, The Jam and the late Sean Lock.
I will visit Woking next week .

Hello, such a nice place! Are u living in Woking? I am planning to move to Woking with my family. But I just saw an article about Woking in worst addresses including Sheerwater, Maybury and Knaphill, all littering. Every teen in Woking are drug users and smoking cannabis. Is that true?
Hello there! I live on the Isle of Wight but grew up not far from Woking. 🙂 Unfortunately I don't think there's a way to avoid the drug-taking teens as they do it everywhere, whether they're rich or poor!
Sheerwater is being renovated to look like Woking. Ruining a lovely estate. Knaphill is a nice village. You will get trouble everywhere and anywhere. Not sure about Maybury
lived here for over 20 years. Woking gets a really bad wrap from the locals saying its an awful place, but i dont really understand why.
Its not a pretty town by any means, dosnt have much in the way of old character buildings ... but its fairly low crime, has much better shopping than a town of its size should expect, its a transport hub and best of all is surrounded by greenery and public commons.
I agree, if you didnt know Woking before they changed it you would think it was ok
This is not the High Street, still nice to see the Red House and Tanner the former butchers still standing an improvement on the 1960s

It used to be a great town, now it’s just ruined. So built up and badly planned.
