A very useful and meaningful discussion on Jonah. Way to slice through the spectacular to focus on the relevant spiritual struggle at the core of this story. Thank you, Sister Richardson!
I never questioned the bible stories I was taught as a little kid in a different church. I only argued about the Trinity doctrine. If God can keep literal fire from harming 3 faithful men, survival in a whale for 3 days was easy.
Its kinda weird teaching primary. I never believed in the nicene creed. I apparently once had a fifteen minute conversation that made my wife doubt there even was a Trinity because neither of us had a way to understand The Holy Ghost that is until I began learning about The Restoration, and subsequently so did she...We believe in the Trinity now, and know they are One in Purpose.
@@jcal6022 Well it's the God Head, not the Trinity. As I said, I wasn't a member as a little kid learning in Primary, I went to the Church of God of Prophecy and I believed all things until they tried to teach the Trinity. They had an apple trying to use it as an object lesson with it's peeling, flesh and core. I kept arguing about it until finally I just said Ok I get it, but really I didn't 😂 Thankfully I understand completely the God Head. That was the thing about this church, everything the missionaries taught felt right. Even when my mom explained that God had once been a man like us. I never questioned it and thought that makes complete sense now.
@@tiffanyseavy565 We've only been members since Spring 2020 but yah I know what you mean being told as a Child Jesus is his Father I think they tried using the Apple on me. Godhead really is a better descriptor because Elohim is the Head of it. Regardless of what he was outside of Eternity he exists, and in the clash of Churches it cant be justified that were condemned and they are saved because of extra biblical Scripture outside of a Compillation that occurred after the Death of the Apostles. If there was any church that had a historical claim of Legitimacy it would be Eastern Orthodox, but Mandaeans rejected Jesus Christ and for millenia theyve lived in backwater parts of Iraq, and Iran, and why do they Baptize for the Dead? Why does their namesake in Aramaic mean knowledge? Why do they believe their religion was practiced in Adams Day? Why do they believe Posterity can be sealed Eternally? Because in short their traditions are of Anciend Date, and they rejected Yeshua in favor of John the Baptizer. And they dress in a manner like we do as does the Ethiopean Orthodox in their Divine Liturgy.
Perhaps there's a translation mishap since Jesus was only abt 36 hrs between death on the cross and coming forth from the tomb... Maybe Jonah was only slightly over 24h2m btwn thrown from the ship and spit forth on land...
I have seen several articles over the years discussing things like whether it was what we call a day or the Jewish day that begins at sundown (we might say Wed. but it might refer to Tues. evening, etc.) or when the Passover started that particular year, etc. and several different timelines for the crucifixion and resurrection. If that interests you you could search it. The articles/discussions are on several sites. I read quite a bit on it a few years ago.
Merci pour souci de clarté de votre elocution et la clarté de votre exposé, votre témoignage ! C'est formidable, beaucoup de bonheur.
