Feel like Superman D: Seriously, this is awesome. Just think that, down there, millions of people are living. So beautiful and quiet... from the outside, of course...
I watched this with a mixture of feelings of both awe and horror. The awe is self-explanatory, the horror was from seeing all those lights just burning and burning on the ground and covering so much of the land. And, I knew that I'd seen a similar vision once upon a time. Here's the late great visionary artist/ storyteller/ mythmaker Jack Kirby's prophetic depiction of such a thing from New Gods, circa 1970.
Ya know what I found is cool?.....Play this simultaneously with "Mainline Florida," by Eric Clapton.......The ISS photography seems to go in time with the music! Well, I just love this! Thanks for posting!
The earth and its people are both awesome. Think about how much we have accomplished and how awesoem we are as animals. If we think of ourselves as animals we are actually very peaceful, and friendly
i've actually seen the space station a couple of times before. it's like a tiny little star you see moving across the sky. i thought it was actually a shooting star when i first saw it. :D
There are stars in the background in this video for some reason. This may have been added in but cameras can't usually pick up stars because of the light from earth and our sun. But your eyes can pick them up and its probably amazing.
It's because it is the night side of the planet. Most pictures are from the dayside of the earth, which require lower exposure settings for the camera, because otherwise the earth will be overexposed. The lower exposure settings will not pick up the weak light of the stars.
You are seeing the larger clouds at a huge distance, it's only the smaller clouds which we normally view much closer from the ground that we can see moving. Rather like if you were standing in front of a huge wave, you'd see it come at you real quick, but If you saw it from a great distance it wouldn't look like it was moving at all. Plus the sped up time lapse isn't fast enough to capture any movement before the clouds go out of shot.
if people only realized how fragile our planet is..I am sure alot of people forget and/ or never think that we are just planet in outer space, like every other planet.
Pictures were taken at 10,000 ISO, 1-second exposures, and post-processed. This is way far beyond what the human eye would see in real life. Great video though!
@den2003 well yes because they announced it would be seen where i live in the news. i really didn't pay much attention to it but, it was actually a pretty cool experience when i saw it.
Also visible is: Salem (Or.), Eugene (Or.), Spokane, Yakima (Wa.) Boise, Sacromento, Reno, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, St. George(Ut.), Denver, Phoenix, Tucson, and San Diego.
Perhaps the title should be more like: " How does it LOOK like..." Because you can't feel those emotions and sentiments flying over planet Earth from our home/ office chairs! That's why I envy astronauts! Because they feel!
@ArteryClogging It's prety beautiful ( I don't use that word much as a bloke) but damn it makes me smile. The flashes of thunder were really cool as well :D
I like seeing all the lightning flashes!
so cool. The timelapse make it seem so small. Also love the spectral reflection off of the atmosphere.
that lightning when the clouds flash is fantastic
Sows how friggin lucky we are to live on the one speck of dust in the Universe that can sustain life.

The LIGHTNING & THUNDER in the clouds is the best. Just look at it!!!

The lightening flashes where awesome.
Unreal how bright the lights are shining on the sat
Comment une vidéo de simulation peut avoir tant de succès, c'est inquiétant, nous sommes dans un monde d'aveugles !!
Never knew you could see lightning from space, that's pretty sweet.
That's amazing. Didn't know lightning bolts were visible from space!

This positive feedback was posted through RaterBug.
Stunning.
Could have taken a few more pictures and made it smoother, but still, amazing.
Wow, lots of lightning storms over California & Mexico.
How can anyone not like this video?
Pretty incredible looking
It's so easy to believe that this video is of a different planet rather than Earth...
Those lightnings Are like A Flash lights coming from cams of Spectors in a Stadium in a final match
I want a ride on it!!! On the other hand some music would make this video even nicer!
It sure is a beautiful scene !
*Sees video*
*Looks behind curtains*
*Thunder flashes*
*Closes curtains*
Damn, forecast is right!
Is that lighting in those clouds? That's fucking awesome
Planet Earth is so beautiful :)
Finally found the satellite. It took me like five times watching though, I'll admit.
For those of you who are curious about the blue dots at end, those are streaks of lightning
Pictures were taken at 10,000 ISO, 1-second exposures, and post-processed. This is way far beyond what the human eye would see in real life. Great video though!
oh its so beautiful :')
its nice to view the planet i will be visiting soon. next year.
@den2003 well yes because they announced it would be seen where i live in the news. i really didn't pay much attention to it but, it was actually a pretty cool experience when i saw it.

this is true because the red lights are the cities and the flashing things are the lightning so much for the bright sun
Nice Time Lapse :)
Perhaps the title should be more like: " How does it LOOK like..." Because you can't feel those emotions and sentiments flying over planet Earth from our home/ office chairs! That's why I envy astronauts! Because they feel!
Is it just me, or does it seem like volcanoes are everywhere? Thumbs up.
@ArteryClogging It's prety beautiful ( I don't use that word much as a bloke) but
damn it makes me smile.
The flashes of thunder were really cool as well :D
Beautiful blue planet
@32Aztec isn't it neat how a simple view that we aren't used to can put things like that into obvious perspective.
This is AWESOME!
I just had a brilliant idea. Let's build giant vacuum cleaner, so we can vacuum all those white clouds and have a sunny day everyday ;)
Amazing vantage point.
Absolutely beautiful!
it looks unreal, like in a scifiction movie or something. Reallt beaufitull :)
awesome our planet is special
Fantastic video!
amazing lightning storms
@jk2l The flashes in the clouds are lightning, the glowing yellow splotches are city lights (and you don't get thunder in space).
Wow, very nice. Wish I could go up there.
Thats a result of the cameras exposure level. If you look a bit harder you can see some of the brighter ones.
Lighting in Cloud is Awesome
@deecool47 Hey man, thank you very much!! I always love it when people suggest great songs on RUclips. Great song!
