Plane Spotting at London City Airport, LCY | 29-08-17

Well after a successful month so far, we end it off with a visit to London's regional airport, London City! Famous for its steep approaches and take offs! It was quite a cloudy evening, so sadly not much of a sunset to of looked forward to. But it was and is always nice to take a step back once in a while and see something other than the usual Boeing and Airbus. Even the regional jets like the Embraer's and Avro's are still just as impressive in my opinion
It was nice to see Swiss' CS100 now flying into LCY, only started a few weeks ago so still a fairly new service, a worthy replacement of the RJ100 I think for sure! It was certainly a highlight for me, especially seeing two, which I didn't expect to. The KLM Cityhopper was also nice to see again, this one being in the Skyteam livery, finally another Skyteam livery on the E190 other than Alitalia's.

i love how they make noise while on the ground as soon as they lift off they make a completely different sound

The Swiss CS100s are my favorite too. The nacelles are so ginormous compared to the Embraer 170/190s. I also like the angle of the winglets versus the Embraers also.
CS100 best looking aircraft by far. Time for BA / LH to ditch those awful Embraers !!!

Dillon Meredith: That's what makes the 146 one of a kind, a design common to military transports.
Northwest used to fly them out of grand forks, ND to Minneapolis back around 2000, i loved it. Who would want to see the C17 land at London City, it is capable of it, not sure how much weight the runway can hold, though. Look up “c17 wrong airport” that runway is shorter than London City. It can do the steep approach and takeoff too.

CS 100 is the future of flying!
To me, the Bae 146 is the sound of City airport.
What a brilliant idea it was to build that. Definitely one of the best ideas to come out of Mrs. Thatcher's government. Some interesting destinations; a lot of traffic to France, Rennes, Quimper and Toulon? I suppose there must be enough busienss traffic from those places to make it worthwhile.

What are the best mng and afternoon times to spot at LCY and what spotting locations for morning /afternnon flights in late June please? Thanks.
When I stay on Sunborn the best times seem to be before 9 am and after 5 and one of the best places is in front of the rowing club on the other side of the dock to the runway at the present time the airport is being made larger by including a taxiway.

Yep, planes land and take off into the wind, in this instance there was a westerly wind so Runway 27, the East to West runway was in use 😎

Casey Planespotting I'm flying LCY-CWF on one of the last flights!
The reason why I searched this video was because I was in Waterloo in London U.K. and a plane over me very close to me and it was Singapore airlines A380 after that was a Emirates A380 just right above me I was like "no way a Emirates and Singapore airlines A380 take off from London city airport . Heathrow airport was miles away it would of been 10,000ft in the air can you guys tell me what airport it could be.

This airport is full of fantastic planes to watch! I will be banning planes that don't fly to or from this airport such as the 737 MAX! CS 100 is only plane that is good.
