Overseas fans bought the biggest chunk of ILLIT's debut album it went up 17 ranks on a daily basis this week according to Circle's Retail Album Chart.

BTS is too humble to say/think they are bigger than K-pop. I live in California and BTS introduced me to K-pop. BTS is my bias, but I don't think they're bigger than K-pop. They just made K-pop extremely diverse, created a fandom named ARMY, took K-pop global, and made South Korea a place of interest. After BTS retires, K-pop go on. Groups will come and go and/or be successes or failures, but they won't come close to be as phenomenal as BTS and ARMY.

Put it this way. BTS is MORE than K-Pop,. K-Pop was always there and will always continue to be there after BTS " retires". BUT BTS brought interest of K-pop to other countries ( outside of Asia) so people felt " okay" and comfortable to listen and watch K-pop. Truthfully K-pop is very shiny, fantasy, bright type of music which would appeal to young kids or adults interested in cartoons/anime mostly. That is why BTS are " more" than K-pop and do not fit into a niche or pure Asian mold. With their type of music and willingness to diversity sounds they made it so they can sell in any country. They are looking to the future for a constant stream of revenue.

Thank you for the information, as always. The question that always stays in my mind is - Do the Korean government and Korean people appreciate what BTS has done for them? Do they have their backs? Because it never seems like they do. They have allowed so much to occur in their own country that shows their lack of support and I don't understand it. What upsets me the most is that the members must be hurt by this - they love their country and their culture, that is very evident, and they do what they can to share it with the world. But the government, for one, never seems to stand up for them or appreciate them. They just continue to use them.

All that happened was some rogue twitter account pretending to be ARMY started the rumour and one South Korean Journalist believed it and all the news stations went with that story.
Someone we assume it was the person who started the twitter account sent a logged into the SK government website to lodge a bogus petition. The website did what it has to do said they'd received it. But they are not going to do anything with it because it would be against the law as the case went to court years ago and BTS/HYBE were provern innocent.

Is it because the media always downplays their achievement or so much jealousy from other fanbase’s and the other entertainment agencies? What is it exactly? I think the International fans are genuinely dumbfounded by it all. They are the most successful band in the world today perhaps even ever, yet in their own country they are always willing to think bad of them. Black Pink full English songs is basically more than 30% in discography and they even have an English album, and the fact they released an English song before BTS, so by logic and statistics, Blackpink is the one that is TOO WESTERNIZED, not BTS.

Maybe you are saying this because you think SK and SK bts antis who also profit from bts' success even if they don't realize that don't deserve them after the way they have been treating them, I get that feeling of hurt or disappointment that they are not appreciated in their own country. But if your angry at or blaming Hybe for any of this you are falling right into MHJ evil plans, from day 1 she has been plotting to tank Hybe from the inside, building hatred towards the company is part of her plan. Hybe is the company BTS built, everyone in the media associates Hybe with BTS they are the group that made them and why I believe from the beginning the hate that has been building for Hybe was aimed at hurting BTS as the endgame. It's easier to get fans and the public to hate the company then it is to outright hate BTS unless they are already antis, it's a manipulation tactic to get fans to side with MHJ or the opposition when the end goal is aimed hurting BTS like it's always been. The fact she is using media to attack BTS directly with rumors to hurt Hybe's value after going after other groups first who have little bearing on the companies value when compared to BTS says a lot. BTS' enemies for years like YG and SM have had connections to the Korean media downplaying BTS' success for years now and even falsifying scandals like plagiarism accusations or sajaegi to attack them. Naver even got into bed with SM so their newsfeed also downplays BTS' success in Korea. MHJ has been taking a page out of SM's playbook with using the media to hurt BTS and manipulating the Korean public, she has been very insidious with her plans and BTS' long time enemies are more then willing to help kick them when they are down so to speak. It's similar to the trojan horse concept, people think they are are hating on Hybe but it's actually BTS in reality. The enemy just disguised them and hid their true intentions.
