- Goodwater Trail Loop along the San Gabriel River Trail at Lake Georgetown is a 26.6-mile trail that passes through bottomland hardwoods, prairie grasslands, and dense Oak/Ashe Juniper forest.
The trail encircles the lake and extends from Booty's Road Park Trailhead, operated by the City of Georgetown, to Overlook Park Trailhead.
AllTrails rates the loop as moderate, and being in the Texas Hill Country, there is a surprising amount of elevation change along the route.
This loop is a great beginning backpacker trail.

Such a great trail for a weekend getaway. So close to town, but it feels like you're in a more remote area.
Hello from another Texas hiker.
Hi! What's your next adventure taking you?
@@thehikingtexan I did a road trip yesterday and just posted video this morning I'm certain I will be doing a hiking Adventure in the next couple weeks
Great video! Wish I could get my BASE down to 23lbs. Work in progress😅.
Nothing more rewarding than a nice tough hike
You know it. Love this trail for a quick weekend getaway.
I don’t think that the trail is particularly well marked. Certain parts are confusing.
Thank you for the great video. Is the car park area just outside the gatehouse for Cedar Breaks park? Also, do you need to make arrangements or pay to park?
There is a parking lot outside the park that is free is you want to hike the trail. I have heard you can pay for day passes and park your car in the park if you feel more secure that way. I have never done that, but also, have not yet left my car overnight.
Oh and you can also park at Jim Hogg park, Tejas Park and Russel park. Tejas merely has a gravel spot for trail parking. Nothing in the park like the other three.
