toward the end of her life, I actually felt really bad for Jia. She admitted her sins, and hoped that if she was ever reborn to never live this horrible life in the palace.
She only felt that way after she finally got a taste of her own medicine. I didnt feel much empathy for her. Til the end she hit people where it hurt she was awful. She may have lived an awful life but she made others lives worse too. She was not pitiful IMO.
@@KagomeYasha023 I agree, people who do evil things never understand what the consequences could be because they are extremely narrow minded. They always inflict suffering and don't understand what that suffering feels like. Once they finally feel it, that's when they regret however by that point who will pity them? Those worth pitying are those that have empathy.
@@KagomeYasha023exactly! Her whole group died! They all wished for new life's, they took lives, and some innocent. God said it's not no such thing as death bed repentance.
@@KagomeYasha023 idk, it’s easy to judge her based on our own standards, but she genuinely believed that it was a dog-eat-dog world, and believed that if she herself wasn’t cruel others would be cruel too. And, it’s not like she was that far off the mark; look at all the other villains in this story - the empress, the noble consort, Wei Yanwan, even Hailan did cruel things to protect Ruyi, and she’d definitely have been more aggressive if Ruyi didn’t stop her, and I’ll bet if she weren’t basically untouchable with her power in the harem, the empress dowager would have been the most cutthroat of them all. You can say just because others are evil doesn’t mean you have to be too, but frankly I think that’s naive, and was in fact the root of Ruyi’s downfall. Also, she was fighting for her clan, for the man she loved. I’m not saying that really justifies the things she did, but then soldiers also do whatever it takes to fight for their countries. In the end I just felt bad for her because although it’s true that she made the choices herself to do the terrible things she did, she’s also a product of her upbringing, raised to believe that the glory of her clan is literally worth anything. Imagine, from the moment she was born she was robbed of her free will; she was literally sent to the palace as a GIFT (or tribute whatever you wanna call her). She didn’t get to be with the man she loved, and was told she needed to marry a stranger she didn’t love, and even have his kids, and she must have been told this from the moment she was born. At the end, for her to realise that for all the efforts she made, her clan and the man she loved just threw her to the side like dirt, it definitely makes me pity her. In fact, I sort of pity most of the villains I mentioned before, because even though it seems like they made all these choices themselves to hurt people, when you think about how they were raised to believe that their life was not their own, and the sole purpose of their existence was to further their clan’s prestige, with no one telling them otherwise, it almost seems like they never had a choice and were doomed the moment they were born.

These dramas are just for fun, not historical accuracy. This drama and another are based on fictional books borrowing historical figures/times for the base.
@@crayolaclouds2696 exactly, they are very rough history of the limited amount of details of what happened. Since we have to remember, how would the people of today (most of whom were no where near noble family bloodlines) know what actually happened in the forbidden city. The story is mostly based upon second hand story telling.
In real life she was a foreign consort that was not very favored by Qianlong. As an outsider she would not have had the opportunity to cause much mischief.
Jin-shi was the puppeteer behind everything from the moment Bao-Qinwang ascended the throne as the Qianlong Emperor. What she didn't predict was that someone else was dangling onto the strings as well, that being Wei-shi.
I hated how the emperor gave high titles to women who he knew had done wrong things after they died, because he though about how they would looked to outsiders,, but when Ruyi died she was striped out of all her titles because 'thats what she wanted'??
She never wanted to be tied to the palace ever again . Her faith was in reincarnation . That is why when she speaks of finding she is pregnant the third time she says ,' Do you think it is Jinse / her baby girl who died / coming back . " So her removal of everything pertaining to Ruyi was to set her soul free .......
The shite emperor gave the criminal a funeral with honour and posthumous title while he dishonoured the woman who loved her the most for the longest time - no burial fit for an empress no ceremony posthumous. Just because she spoke up to him and defy him? He lived a long life afterwards … wonder if he ever had a heart or a conscience! Despicable man. I read in history his treatment to Ruyi was worse. 😢 They only found Ruyi’s remains together with another concubine’s in the last century . Excellent actors here in the series! ❤
Facts! He at least could have gave her remains back to her people or even her servant outside the palace. I know she would have buried her somewhere beautiful!
The emperor didn't bury Ruyi as empress because that's what she wanted, in fact that was one of the only good things he did for her, Ruyi didn't want to be remembered and that's why she burned her and the emperor's painting, Hongli didn't He gave her an empress's funeral and didn't even admit her as one because he knew she wouldn't want that, Ruyi didn't want to be the empress anymore.

Lessons in life are meant to be learned either we learn from them what we sell them it's our choice to made by us only and only us because you see the heart it can hide so many things in it
Know what, I only see 1 lesson from all these. Never devote your life to 1 goal only that you turn blind and forget to see where you are going. Jia was not wrong in her ambition, her ambition were very human. You want to be at top and that's what all desire. Her only mistake was turning blind to many things. Getting lost so badly that even her sons question why. Also, ladies, never be stupid for a man. I hate how all problems of fight in palace was harem. 2 at most seem fine but wtf he had like 20+.
Dang….Jia was a serial killer. She instigated and influenced almost the entire harem without lifting a finger. Treacherous and useless in the end. She needed a public death to expose her malicious intentions.
Sebenarnya selir Jia adlh yg paling cantik dan cerdas, dia menguasai situasi dan kondisi, dia yg paling sukses melahirkan anak dg aman anak laki2 semua. Dia rela merayu kaisar bahkan mencium lbh dahulu, hal yg tdk mungkin dilakukan oleh Ruyi...tapi kaisar Qianlong sangat angkuh, hanya curiga bhw selir Jia mengincar kedudukan putra mahkota bagi anaknya Yongcheng, kaisar marah besar....
He's is such a despicable man. Ruyi visited Jia, got answers from a dying woman concerning who she harmed and who she didn't, and those she didn't, she admitted that as much as she always knew about the goings-on in the palace, she *didn't* know who was behind those. She even, in her own way, warned Ruyi after all these that the palace is an 'eat or be eaten' mindset and you have to strike first: Jia was telling Ruyi someone else is just as conniving and evil as she was in eliminating competition for the Emperor's favor including their sons and that *someone* is still out there and still a threat to her and her unborn child. Ruyi calmly confides Jia's admissions to the Emperor and his first reaction? Deny that Jia didn't harm/kill them *all*. By telling Ruyi just because Jia said some weren't her handiwork doesn't mean he has to believe she didn't commit them all: if he puts the blame for all on Jia based on her confessing to several but not all, then he can wipe his hands of it all, doesn't have to contemplate or investigate that there is another viper in his harem's midst that will continue harming others. His famous phrase of "What's in the past, don't think of it anymore". Throughout this entire drama, the only person he says that to is Ruyi - every time he accuses her falsely, every time he punishes her for something she didn't do, every time he slaps her (even when pregnant and knocks her to the ground off the stairs), every time he screams at her, every time he suspects but doesn't know, every time his jealously erupts (which is all the time), every time he treats her cruelly, every time he's not man enough to tell her as her husband and father of her children that "I'm sorry", every time he blamed her for things out of her control (loss of their child at birth). And here he does/says it again, to Ruyi: she's telling him there is still danger in the harem for the child she's carrying and every other favored woman and child in his palace and he's turning a blind eye to it because he doesn't want to think he chose serial killers, murderers, strategic thinkers as his harem: he chose his harem to satiate his lust and stroke his ego and to learn/acknowledge they are smarter than he, more conniving than he, more clever than he, have manipulated him and his entire harem and he's been clueless about the whole thing is too much for his pea-sized brain and mountainous-sized ego to handle. Knowing women he favors in his bed as possessions he owns are treacherous, dangerous enemies of his central palace and everyone in it regardless of rank is not something he can accept as fact because that means he did not "choose wisely" when picking women for his harem. His ego can't take that hit. Even when things explode around Ling later on with witnesses too many to fit in the room, you can tell he's being easily manipulated with her caterwauling, tears and denials and going to go soft on her *until* Dowager walks in. If not for her entering that room, he'd turn a blind eye again. He may be an excellent Emperor in ruling the dynasty, but in every other sense, he's a loathsome and disgusting man.

Almost unbearable even to watch someone who stooped so low at her lowest ebb. The women suffered so much at every level just to survive.
13:56 the background music gives me chills. Does anybody know what it is?
If you actually cared and handled things right your empress ruyi wouldn’t have to go to dirty inauspicious places!

Is a very good actor!
As an outsider she would not have had the opportunity to cause much mischief.
i feel bad for all the consorts and concubines of such monters as emporors and kings, the suffering those poor women went thru was horrfiying
Well said very good writing thank you
The shite emperor gave the criminal a funeral with honour and posthumous title while he dishonoured the woman who loved her the most for the longest time - no burial fit for an empress no ceremony posthumous.

Incredible acting.
SHE GOT HER GOOD!!!

Sorry for her ending, lesson learned
Ruyi's ending is so tragic!
🤣🤣
Dang….Jia was a serial killer. She instigated and influenced almost the entire harem without lifting a finger. Treacherous and useless in the end. She needed a public death to expose her malicious intentions.
jia, you should go home to your hometown earlier..enjoying flower garden...etc
She is the most beautiful 1
Sebenarnya selir Jia adlh yg paling cantik dan cerdas, dia menguasai situasi dan kondisi, dia yg paling sukses melahirkan anak dg aman anak laki2 semua. Dia rela merayu kaisar bahkan mencium lbh dahulu, hal yg tdk mungkin dilakukan oleh Ruyi...tapi kaisar Qianlong sangat angkuh, hanya curiga bhw selir Jia mengincar kedudukan putra mahkota bagi anaknya Yongcheng, kaisar marah besar....
That title is very wrong, Ruyi would never do that.
No wonder, this drama is one of the best that came out of China ❤️ It's outstanding and incredible ❤️

Among all the actresses here, Consort Jia is the most beautiful woman in Manchurian attire.
The emperor himself harmed concubine shu and their own child. He’s a nasty man.
The Emperor was the root of evil and despair in the Harem.

Pero cuántas concubinas tiene ese hombre?
