That nitrogen is only good if you drop the plant before it flowers or the nitrogen gets used the plant producing it
Correct. The legume will consume the majority of the nitrate produced by the rhizobium and the best way to release that delicious nitrogen to the elderberries is by chopping and dropping, however, plants that live in close association with each other, like our elderberry and clover, will share nutrient in a symbiotic relationship.
