It WAS a gorgeous town, I grew up there from 62-80. The only other disaster we had was an propane explosion in 1978, leveled half the town. We're a strong resilient ppl. We built back then and we'll build back this time. Google "Waverly train derailment 1978"....😢

Good for him, he needed a thrill. He seems like the kind of guy that appreciates an out of the ordinary event. Don't want anything bad happening to him but he probably deserves some excitement after putting up with 90 years of this life, not going out bored to tears (literally) like most do.
He seems like a very humble man who has learnt to put his faith and trust in God....and God spared him for some more years for some reason...HUMILITY ..a beautiful thing

Life's path is so hard but as hard as it is and the pain as well the struggle that we endure with loved ones passing we have to accept that the Lord has us in his heart and knows we are sad, torn, struggling with loss, and wondering why and it is during these difficult times that we not become bitter or angry with the Lord but instead look for guidance, peace, acceptance, and love because one day we will all be together again. Sending healing prayers for anyone affected from this storm.

I was about ready to quit doing drugs, being I spend all weekend 20 miles south of Waverly, Iowa binging and knew nothing about any flood.

Where is Waverly?
TN. I wondered the same.. then saw this is from 2021. And now I remember it.. maybe the first incident of heavy flooding as mountain rain funneled into a valley, then washed away houses. It was a mini-event compared to Helene.. which came after 2 days of NC rain from the east that caused a river to rise to 9 ft - a woman who lived there said "evac height" was 6 ft but few left for higher ground. Both areas are far inland, but still had bad effects from changes in weather patterns. We had a narrow band of rain several months ago.. maybe 8 inches that took out fences at the Daniel Boone home in Defiance, MO, and flooded my friend's house nearby. Similar happened in CA months ago.. narrow band of heavy rain washed mud from the hills.
