    NAIL THE MIX is an online mixing school created by Joey Sturgis, Joel Wanasek and Eyal Levi - the guys who produced bands like TDWP, Chelsea Grin, Blessthefall, Machine Head, Monuments, Miss May I, Of Mice & Men, Reflections, Born Of Osiris, Asking Alexandria and dozens more of this generation's best metal bands.
    Every month, NAIL THE MIX members get exclusive access to the REAL MULTI-TRACK SESSIONS from a REAL ALBUM, and a 6-8 hour live streaming class from the producer who mixed it. These are the actual sessions by bands like Gojira, Meshuggah, Periphery, Opeth, Fall Out Boy, Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember and more - and NTM is the only place in the world you'll get access to them!

      The VOICE is great.
      The drastic gate on the voice is distracting.

    Love using this technique myself.
    I feel like because you are separating the transients, you get more clarity from the speakers.

    the human brain doesn't tend to hear space until about 15ms, or so i'm told

    • @cgollimusic
      @cgollimusic Год назад

      I always stick by 30ms, remember hearing that the HAAS effect starts sounding like delay after about 30ms and it seems about right. In reality, to me it's more about 25 or so, so that's as far as I usually push. But yeah I'd say it lies somewhere between 15 and 30 or 35 at a push. Might differ from person to person slightly.
      Also depends what you're doing. 15 might still sound uniform, 25 might sound not as uniform, but not quite like a delay yet

      @@cgollimusic I would always be careful of a Universal move, usually each section has its own Mojo unless it has been edited to pieces.

    I actually always move the snare just a little bit ahead especially for upbeat songs for energy. Then with the kick I just hit the random by a few milliseconds button or maybe even move it myself depending on the energy I want. Haven't tried it with guitars yet tho

    I've always found that my guitar tracks sound better when they're not right on the grid but a little bit behind or dragging. So yeah, using your eyes as a tool is cool and all but the final decision should be made with your ears.

    • @rockboy360
      @rockboy360 Год назад

      dragging tends to sound heavier on bass.

    I have ADHD and even though I can play somewhat tight, I'm always ahead a bit and it's super frustrating. Been having to experiment a lot with moving guitars, love these videos!
