I have gotten this stick around my birthday and even got to customize it based on one of my favorite divisions from Hypnosis Mic, and plus with the Functions options, I was able to assign different buttons for me to use on games such as Blazblue and even for the Pop’n Music titles. The only issue I had was how you sound on the mic through the headphone jack since it will make your voice a bit low and have some sort crackling sound going on whenever you use it on, but it was still pretty good to use nonetheless. This was a brilliant review, I’m glad you got to try this out and I hope you keep on helping people out on Fightstick customizing and fighting games in general, have a good one
Hey, thanks for your nice comment and for sharing your experience with the stick! I'm glad you found a good use for the function mapping (Pop'n Music is great) and the headphone jack. Have a good one!
Fun fact: the lever harness has six wires--power is available if anyone has a silent Hayabusa lever they'd like to install... or if Hori ever makes an individual silent Hayabusa available for purchase 😅.
Ah, that's why! That's actually a great little tidbit of knowledge. (I don't know that I'll ever use it since I don't have one of those levers, but thanks for letting us know!) Thanks for the consistent support as well, V! I appreciate it!
I love the hori silent Hayabusa stick that's like my favorite of all time unfortunately you're right they're very very expensive but they're coming back out with it because Hori has on their Japanese website The silent Stick version of fight Stick alpha It's really big news cuz I'm hoping they do I don't want to buy the The whole arcade Stick with the body I just wanted silent joysticks again hopefully they'll bring them back into the market
I heard that too bro God damn Hori man honestly I truly love the Qanba silent but but my favorite of all time is Happ Perfect 360 silent arcade Joystick man they were the greatest stick I ever played and owned in unfortunately I had a house fire and lost everything I had Two Mas sticks with them
Unfortunately I feel like 200 USD will be on the lower end for PS5 sticks. Just look at how much the new Nacon Daija costs. Get your Obsidians/Pearls now before it's too late!
At the risk of sounding too old, everything seems to cost more these days, so you're probably right. (And I love the Pearl.) I guess we'll see where average price falls when the dust settles after a few more releases... Hopefully it's reasonable enough people won't be gatekept out of stick use...the world needs more sticks... Thanks for watching!
This was a lovely video. I have been enjoying your content all day, and it really does not warrant this stupid short essay I wrote, but you touched on a personal axe I feel the need to grind. Between the Mayflash elites, the Victrix, the Qanba sticks, the Madcatz return, and the dragonslay/ego clones, there are a plethora of Sanwa Vewlix options, which are the default on account of the original TE. That’s fine. What’s disappointing is that how limited non-Sanwa retail stick options are. Outside of Hori, you can import an IST or an Etokki for a lot of shipping, or you can get the Qanba mechanical switch stick. There is only 1 Sanwa Noir option you can buy without importing. There is little to no diversity within the retail stick market. Hori has been doing great work by offering an alternative with Hayabusa Noir sticks. If Hayabusa parts are “questionable parts” then literally any retail stick parts that aren’t Sanwa parts are questionable parts. I know you added the caveat that a new player might not mind, but the way it’s presented in this video is as if only someone who hadn’t tried Sanwas would enjoy Hayas, and that’s just not true. Hayas, Seimitsus, and Sanwas are all things a new player ought to try and are in a clear league above parts like Zippys, Mayflashes, or Suzo Happs(please just buy iLs), which are real budget questionable parts that only a new player would enjoy. TLDR: Seimitsus are the best you Sanwa sheep, I’m going to go play Ikaruga. 😈
I actually think the parts are fine and very comparable to their Sanwa counterparts, so hopefully it didn't read like I hated them. A lot of people just sort of look for Sanwa as the default because it's the main brand and probably one of the only ones they have experience with, so I wanted to make it clear those weren't the parts in this stick. I also didn't mean questionable like they were cheap; I meant questionable as in they were not Sanwa and also were not what I'd normally choose to put in my own sticks if given the option (but neither is Sanwa at this point). Everything circles back to a feel issue, I suppose, and this is just my opinion. The lever feels a touch sloppier to me and the buttons feel a bit lower with a lower actuation force (which aren't things I typically look for in components), but at the end of the day, they play just fine (and there are some people who prefer them as noted in other comments). I do like really like the Noir layout and them moving the industry away from Vewlix which has been so standard for so long, so they did get that right. I'm with you in regard to Seimitsu buttons. Most of my sticks are either Seimitsu or Crown 202s. I can play longer and more comfortably if the buttons have a bit higher actuation force threshold and I can rest my fingers on them without a press. Thanks for your essay comment though! I'm still dialing in my review process and I can try to make things like this more clear in the future.
Wow dude, you really did a number on this one! You thought about everything. I really liked the fact that the case comes with a lot of quality of life features. The only QoL feature that I did not see and I really like is the removable (quick release) joystick. That makes it really easy to get it in a bag. Now that I think about it, my first joystick was I think one of the first really cheap hori fightsticks (before the f100?) and it had membrane buttons. below the buttons there was a pcb! The joystick itself had the exact same sound as this one, and it had a square gate too. The instant I heard the joystick switches, that old thing came to mind. It took a nice beating for a couple years and it still performed okay! For me the thing to consider is the options in the market for the price tag. Very nice review dude. P.S. *whispers* duuuuuude open up a referal store for the reviewed items!
Thanks for the comment and feedback! I don't seem to do many reviews but I'll have to check out the referral process and see what it all entails. Thanks for the idea!
Had the opportunity to pick this up for less than 200 when this came out. Was well worth it, it is currently my only joystick controller right now when I feel like playing on one. Joystick and button mods aside, the only criticisms I really have are the way the cable wraps, never seems to want to stay tightly wound so there's a bit that always sticks out that the clamp shell gets stuck on when closing so I have to still tuck it in to fully close. I don't mind the plastic case considering the price point, though I feel the shape of it is a bit boxy, does make me want to bring my legs closer to balance it better. Otherwise, awesome stick.
Nice! And with so many of the new sticks coming out far exceeding this price point, I'm tempted to retroactively add back in a half a star. It's a solid little stick (and pretty efficient in terms of price). Thanks for watching!
@@HushMySweet1isit a "little " stick? It looks big for me? Isit not same broad as the premium sticks? Also dod you mention that tjis is an Entry level stick?
@@genantamtam9364 I don't think it's a small stick. I think it's maybe not what I would consider premium, but it's definitely beyond entry level Drone territory. Right in there mid-zone I would say. I like this stick quite a bit for the money as it turns out (so I've since adjusted my opinion on the price seeing new ones). This gen of sticks is turning out pretty expensive, so this one feels like a better deal than all of the Qanba stuff right now.
i find the noir layout less ergonomic since i have to bend my wrist inwards to fit my fingers over the buttons. i'm not sure why there isn't a layout that has more of a slant that matches where your fingers would naturally rest. the closest mainstream one is the vewlix but just simply rotating the noir layout a tad to the left would be best.
Have you looked at Astrocity Sega Player 2 layout? I really like that one. It's similar to Noir, but the little finger buttons don't sweep down as sharply.
Swapped the stick with an otto sanwa. but these buttons are just great. prefer them over sanwa, seimitsu, crown or even gamerfingers. Although they are a bit loud, they feel amazing.
I have a Madcatz TE S+. Does anyone know if it's worth getting this Hori Alpha and replacing my current stick? I only really want it so I have the freedom of using it for PC, PS4 and 5.
I'd say if those are your goals, this fits your criteria. It's not a bad little stick, plus it will mod easy if you want to swap out the buttons for Sanwa or something you're used to.
Probably like a Sanwa JLF or JLX ($20), and then upgrade it with the Otto DIY V5 kit (an extra $30). Then you've got a really solid $50 lever imo. Good luck!
I don't have an exhaustive list for you, but there should be several. Most all of the custom options utilize detachable cords. Many of the all-button options (FightBox, Slab Mini, Flatbox, Micro, Mpress) have them. The Panthera... Yeah, I would just look into the one you're interested in to confirm it does. And even if it doesn't, you can always mod/install one yourself. Good luck and thanks for watching.

Just like any other fightstick: You'll want to grip around the crimp and ease them up off the button prong (you may need to push the little gasket stuff up a bit to make it easier). If they are really on there, then I'd suggest using a little precision screwdriver (flathead) and working it up and off the prong that way. I know it differs between the styles and brands. I don't have a ton of levers to test, but I found this info on r/fightsticks posted by a user, CD-ROMantic, who tested tons of K levers. Looks like you should be golden as long as you aren't using the 309 with the detachable shaft. Fits: 309-MJ-NEW-Helpme, 309MJ-BENYLIS, Coorejam Lever, Sanjuks V6, Golden Lever with both the square and circle collar (NOTE: This is not using the full collar) Alpha 47C, Alpha 49S (I tested with the Knee Lever, but it's the same stick) Doesn't Fit: Any full collar lever, Fujin with the low collar mod, Crown 309 with the detachable shaft, and any stick with the Shuriken PCB on it
Buttons are very sensitive indeed (little bit too much tbh). Where did you find the Hori device manager ? I have not been able to find it so far (the url provided on my box doesn't lead me anywhere
Right on! Those are good picks, and I'm with ya on the button sensitivity. I know some people swear by them but like you, I like a bit of feedback before a press. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, it's a solid little stick. At the time I did this review, I was surprised it was $200. Now, seeing all the Qanba and Razer price points, it definitely feels like a bargain comparatively. Thanks for watching.
I sold this not long after the review so I can't confirm anything for you. But, I would guess it did not recognize it as a PS controller. I remember there being a toggle switch to change between PC and PS.
Yeah, I have a Daija I hope to review the at some point too here. Just a lot on my plate and there's still a lot in front of it. Hopefully in a few months though. Still, the Alpha was a decent stick for the price, so thanks for watching!
They each have pros and cons. IMO, the best two sticks in the last generation of sticks were the Qanba Pearl and the Hori Fighting Edge, so they are both solid options. I haven't yet tried enough PS5 stuff to have a definitive conclusion for the SF6 era though. But both are good brands.
Has that Hori Alpha Sticky got 6 pin connector connected to lever? Somebody maybe know that is it work like normal 5 pin conector? Can somebody explain me whats going on with that connector.
Another commenter said this earlier: "Fun fact: the lever harness has six wires--power is available if anyone has a silent Hayabusa lever they'd like to install..." So functions the same, but has the capability of utilizing one of those silent ones as well.

Which arcade sticks are out yet for the PS5 which works with PS5 Games? Im looking for a Budget one..
Not many unfortunately. And this may be one of the cheaper options. You can look at Qanba options as well. They have a Drone 2 which should be around ~$150 shipped.
I sold this stick to a buddy so I can't check firsthand atm. But! I'm 99% sure a Sanwa JLF should fit this. Take some photos and describe the issue in the tech talk section of the r/fightsticks discord. discord.gg/vT6b3byM
I'm a square gate guy, typically. But, you should definitely try what works for you. Maybe start with the octogate for the Hori Hayabusa. They are like $4. Good luck!
My gripes with the stick is that the way you wrap the wire in the stick is kinda terrible, the overall design is kinda ugly and it's kinda expensive considering how much plastic it uses. It still serves its purpose as a ps5 stick though.
I actually didn't mind the design too much (good wrist room and plenty of space for some custom art), but I agree with your points. Too much plastic made it too light and loose feeling for how big it seemed to be and for how much it cost. And the cord wrap was interesting and novel, but seemed situated too close to the buttons or something. But yeah, at least we're getting some true PS5 sticks. Thanks for watching!
@@HushMySweet1 I absolutely have to agree, I was impressed by the comfort level the wrist room and noir button layout provided. The inside wiring of the buttons looks ugly, but every wire is securely attached and needs extra punctual pressure with a pin or srewdriver to be released. So the usb cable storage is painful, but does not interfere with the wiring. In the end the inside storage option of the usb cable compliments the outerior look of the fightstick. As a pc only user there are two minor points I disliked: - The touchpad is completely unusuable, not even as a simple (extra) button to press for stage reset (as an example) - The headphone jack is listed as unsupported in the instruction handbook, but there were some mute moments where windows directed the audio output to the fightstick. Finally I just decided to send the stick back because in germany the Hori Device Manager was not working properly. Always asking for confirmation of an update without really initialising it afterwards. And the changes made to button functions in the profiles were not saved. It was a hard choice to return the stick, because I primarly use the stick for fighting games with directional pad, but I also want the option for "Left Stick" usage in 2D games like Dead Cells and Hollow Knight. There was no solution to be found online and I got the impression the Device Manager is kind of not working properly in many cases. Now I realise, there are almost no other options with the button layout.
@@michelgiacobino2577 Thanks for the comment! I think you highlighted some valid concerns. I guess people are going to have to weigh those against the positives (ample wrist room, fairly simple art swaps, and a noir layout). I'm a huge custom guy at heart, so TBH this stick probably only has an additional couple hours on it since I released this vid. It's not a bad little stick at all, but I just seem to find fewer reasons to play on ones I haven't put my own spin on, and I haven't done anything to this one yet. Anyway, I hope you find the best stick for you. I've got another review or two hopefully coming in the near future, so stay tuned and thanks for watching.

What would that be? Like a Wico Perfect 360 optical joystick? I don't have this arcade stick any longer to test on or take measurements from, but I would say that lever might be too large. 309-MJ-NEW-Helpme, 309MJ-BENYLIS, Coorejam Lever, Sanjuks V6, Golden Lever with both the square and circle collar (NOTE: This is not using the full collar) Alpha 47C, Alpha 49S (I tested with the Knee Lever, but it's the same stick)
Doesn't Fit:
Any full collar lever, Fujin with the low collar mod, Crown 309 with the detachable shaft, and any stick with the Shuriken PCB on it
Buttons are very sensitive indeed (little bit too much tbh). Where did you find the Hori device manager ? I have not been able to find it so far (the url provided on my box doesn't lead me anywhere
I think I grabbed the device manager from their Japanese website: hori.jp/products/p5/fs_alpha/
Picked 1 up Hayabusa buttons were too sensitive (my first stick) swapped out the stick for a Jlf sanswa from amazon. Also swapped buttons to sanswa
Right on! Those are good picks, and I'm with ya on the button sensitivity. I know some people swear by them but like you, I like a bit of feedback before a press. Thanks for watching!
I need this FS, I can customize it, connect it to my ps4 or pc and store money in it since it has some space beneath
Yeah, it's a solid little stick. At the time I did this review, I was surprised it was $200. Now, seeing all the Qanba and Razer price points, it definitely feels like a bargain comparatively. Thanks for watching.
you mentioned that you used this on PC as well - did steam (or whatever you used) recognize it as a ps4/5 controller?
I sold this not long after the review so I can't confirm anything for you. But, I would guess it did not recognize it as a PS controller. I remember there being a toggle switch to change between PC and PS.
Honestly, it's either this on he Nacon Daija for me. Biggest problem with the daija is it's fairly bulky for what it is.
Yeah, I have a Daija I hope to review the at some point too here. Just a lot on my plate and there's still a lot in front of it. Hopefully in a few months though. Still, the Alpha was a decent stick for the price, so thanks for watching!
@@HushMySweet1 What do you think of the obsidian 2? I was wary of it due to how close the stick was to the buttons.
Have not tried that one yet. Hopefully at some point, however. But I agree, at a glance, very close.
Im confused really Which one you prefer Qanba or Hori ? For street fighter 6
Is the sanwa jlf compatible with the alpha?
It is indeed.
@@HushMySweet1 Sweet! I was looking into the alpha for my first stick so I'm currently finding out what's compatible and not. Thank you!
I bought a sanwa jlf lever and it doesn't fit. Any solution?
I sold this stick to a buddy so I can't check firsthand atm. But! I'm 99% sure a Sanwa JLF should fit this. Take some photos and describe the issue in the tech talk section of the r/fightsticks discord. discord.gg/vT6b3byM
I have this exact version and wish to try and get a Circular and Octo gate, what would you recommend?
I'm a square gate guy, typically. But, you should definitely try what works for you. Maybe start with the octogate for the Hori Hayabusa. They are like $4. Good luck!
@@HushMySweet1 which is compatible for the hori ps5 are you able to link me one that fits this? 😅
@@dread8327 This should be what you're looking for: arcadeshock.com/products/ex-gear-octogate-for-hori-hayabusa-joystick
@@HushMySweet1 thank you very much
Is there a turbo button on it?
I sold this stick, so can't check in person, but I do not remember any turbo function on this device. Thanks for watching.
@@HushMySweet1 Found your channel not too long ago. Very nice content!
@@HushMySweet1
I absolutely have to agree, I was impressed by the comfort level the wrist room and noir button layout provided.
As a pc only user there are two minor points I disliked:
- The touchpad is completely unusuable, not even as a simple (extra) button to press for stage reset (as an example)
- The headphone jack is listed as unsupported in the instruction handbook, but there were some mute moments where windows directed the audio output to the fightstick.
@@HushMySweet1 do you mean to play on this (alpha) more than your other sticks? Is this good for street fighter 6, especially on tournaments?
Entry level my ass. Hayabusa for life 🕹
lol, I thought of you specifically when I did this vid. "Some people *cough*thebigcor*cough* actually prefer these mid-tier components."
Is the room inside big enough for korean levers?

can i put real arcade parts in this? I don't like the stick. I want to put the same exact bat stick street fighter 2 arcade machines had in the 90s.
What would that be? Like a Wico Perfect 360 optical joystick? I don't have this arcade stick any longer to test on or take measurements from, but I would say that lever might be too large. I believe it comes down beyond the mounting plate something like 7 cm. Is there room for 7 cm in this enclosure? My gut says no.
Totally worth it
U said everything I was going to say but I hate the button layout
lol, different strokes I guess. I prefer it over Vewlix, but I know a lot people enjoy the straighter, more traditional layouts. Thanks for watching!
@@HushMySweet1 yeah I'm definitely a old school American bat top with straight six is my favorite arcade style unfortunately they don't make Make them anymore the last arcades that I had that had that six to eight buttons straight layout was Mas
not removable cable sad
That would have been nice, but at least this one stores up. Thanks for watching!
I feel this stick is a bit of a let down. It wish the stick was about 7 lbs and less plastics, it has too much of it and the stick doesn’t feel as sturdy due to
Not
Enough metal panels
I've since changed my tune slightly on this one since the price is so much cheaper than a lot of other Qanba and Razer offerings. But yeah, a little more heft would have been nice. Thanks for watching!
@@HushMySweet1 it's because TE2+ at the time of release was around $200 or so, yet it's hell of a lot more sturdy and solid feeling than this stick, which came out much later and surely could have taken some notes from the TE2, which is still one of the GOATs when it comes to tournament level sticks. This stick could have been even better than the TE2+ but it was a let down....
the standard square gate is terrible
You can get octagonal replacements for Hori levers if that's your speed. (Or just sub it out entirely for something with more options)
Just got this for 40
Holy cow, that's a great deal.
Right now it's $150
That kicks my rating up a notch and a definite fair price. Where are they selling it for that price?
Here in south east Asia. The Tekken and sf6 version is $250
