Hey everyone, hope you had a great holiday!
I finally finished playing this game, now I can move on now lol
I'll finish up the year releasing 2 extra videos, and then it's back to Mario Party starting next year (that should be the plan, hopefully)
Hope you all enjoy the rest of your holiday!
Brent i hope you Reach 500k
Thanks Brent! Also, 14:44 why does she remind me of tcnick3?

King of Skill superior, Reclusa inferior

Nathaniel Bandy: "the final boss was the best part and it kinda dragged on a while before that"

The duality of man
def on Brent's side here. maybe if Reclusa said things other than "people and bonds bad, me alone good", it would've felt fresher.
I definitely think everything post-Zokket's a step down from the rest of the game
A bunch of revisiting previous islands on fetch quests with no new areas, and Reclusa is WAAAAAAY to on the nose with his philosophy (like, there's not even a hint of subtly to how he words his "bonds are bad" philosophy unlike Zokket)
He's also literally there for like, only a few hours. At least enemies like the Shroobs and Dimentio had good chunks of the game to demonstrate how vile they are, Reclusa's just all talk with his previous conquests
Yeah its really weird, a lot of people think the ending is the best in the series meanwhile a lot of people don't like it. I've heard and seen a lot of both.
I really like Reclusa as a villain
@@paulomatute4114 reclusa became one of my favorite Mario villains very quickly and I thought the finale was really good and was extremely climactic and boss fight was kind of hard but I can see why some people didn't find it hard. And the final battle got me way more hyped and pumped up than any other Mario and Luigi final boss as gotten me pumped up and in my opinion reclusa is one of the best Nintendo villains to be made who deserves to be list amongst the best Nintendo antagonist
Luigi in the thumbnail is going to be Brent until 2025, and well deserved. Happy Holidays, Brent! Another great year, and looking forward to what’s next in 2025!
No one's gonna hear from him in 3 days, then as soon as New Year's Day hits, you'll know his battery's charged 'cause all you'll hear is a great, big *_"WA~A~RIO Ti~me!"_*
Can we talk about how raw "I'm gonna strip your wires" is coming from Bowser? Bro basically said "I'm going to rip your entrails in half" to these guys. What a MEANCE.
1 HOUR LONG!! Thank you Brent for giving us this before the end of year. Hope to see more next year :)
Bro went out of his way to make the Movie of Skill
@zeroddor2665 the Movie of Skill... Perfect name. Yeah, now for the full movie, eventually...
Yeah, it's kinda disappointing that there weren't more boss themes for major character bosses throughout the game, and the finale does drag out a little bit, but this game is still great regardless. Let's just hope the series continues.
I went back into this game like three times saying "Okay, this is the time I finish it." and then I didn't because of how long everything was taking.
I eventually got through though and I'm glad I did, it's a really great game.
Wish there was post-game though.
Yeah the music variety was definitely a sore point. I think what is there is good, and the amount of music in this OST does match the previous games. With how long it is though, you are just hoping for more. It can’t hold you for the entire 40+ runtime.
The pacing really does sour every single other aspect of the game.
45:42
"Piplup of the sand, what is your wisdom?"
"What do TCNick3 and--"
"Oh, f**ck off."
**casts Thunder Spell**
Considering how Nick ditched the Piplup thing, that "Fuck off" is all too fitting
You are a professional hater of the ending damn lol. I really liked the ending and think it’s by far the best in the series. I’m surprised it’s the only part you didn’t like, but perhaps I shouldn’t be if you played straight through the last 5+ hours. It absolutely drags on.
This isn’t my favorite game among them, but it has some of the highest highs and lowest lows. So I think it’s worth seeing to the end for people who like Mario RPGs, even if it does take a long time.
Extension Corps is literally Ed Edd and Eddy
I think they are more Team Rocket
@josephsharp6221 naw. Ecks is Eddy, Ten is Edd AKA Double D, and Shun is Ed
Wait. I actually understand. And now that you say that I think they also look similar visually
@@kristophersy773Also guess Ed got glohmified
💀
Zokket, Extension Corps, and even Bowser not having a unique battle theme reminds me how the Dark Star and Dark Fawful didn't have their own unique battle theme in the original BiS...
Yeah there just wasn’t enough budget I guess. Really think they should have allocated that money away from area themes a bit. One more regular battle theme, then a theme for bowser and zokket. It would have made the length of the game a little more tolerable.
I always feel bad, Bowser himself never really gets his own unique themes unless he is the final boss.
@Zyckro it would have been nice if they got their own battle theme... and this may be a hot take, but i don't mind the length of the game. Sure, the pacing was odd at some points, but i don't think it's as bad as some are making it out to be... but if it was up to me, i would cut down a bit of the first 3 hours of the game because it was kinda boring, but as soon i beat the first boss the game pick up for me and kept going up with only a little bit at the final hours dragging on...
And I hated that even back then.
How dare you skip the Matrix-Creepypasta segment?! That is such a great scene!
It's a great scene but I think it REALLY overstays its welcome after a bit
@@OriginalGameteer fair, I would’ve loved to see his reaction though to Mario & Luigi in the flowers especially after commenting on Reclusa getting everyone but the bros with them

"Why do I feel like this guy is like a post boss, where you fight him for real, he's not holding back?"
That's the great thing! There IS no postgame for some ungodly reason! If there was, that'd be a legitimately awesome idea for the boss at the end of a gauntlet.
No M&L game has a postgame
@@Rediscool9 Postgame battle ring. Every new game since Bowser's Inside Story has had one.
@@turbokart3776 That doesn’t really count as a postgame. Also, every game since BOWSERS INSIDE STORY had it, but Superstar Saga and Partners In Time didn’t have them either.
@@Rediscool9 It DOES count as postgame content, which this game does not have. The fact that this game doesn't have anything else after beating the final boss is extremely disappointing.
@@turbokart3776 So you're just gonna completely ignore what I said about Superstar Saga and Partners In Time not having any postgame content either?
33:33 the fact that not hitting luigi here frees him of the glohm is my favorite thing in this game

@@windwaker2094 yeah those are PEAK
I don’t think Reclusa’s theme is bad tho. It’s kinda crazy which fits his personality, but not something I’d listen to much outside of the game
Heck even Cackletta Soul, Elder Princess Shroob, and Selfcest Bowser are amazing tracks. No disrespect to the new composer, but Yoko made some of the most unreal Soundtracks for this series

Every time I use it, I say, "BIG BANG ATTACK!"😂
i think now acquire should remake another mario and luigi game, most notably partners in time 👀
In a recent interview with the developers they reveal that they really enjoyed making Brothership feel like the past entries, however, they did say that they want to explore the "Alphadream touch", if that isn't screaming a remake then I don't know what are they taking about.
@@J_Alanrk2178either they’ll do remakes or have more people from Alphadream help out with future entries. Either option is fine with me though lol
Dear God, I hope not
@@Daemondog I thought that Nintendo would be the one that became allergic to remakes, not the fans.
@@J_Alanrk2178 Not remakes in general. Just Partners in Time
Reclusa wasn't a bad fight imo. It's just that the Bros are so damn broken in this game lol
Honestly disappointed that you didn’t show enough of your reaction during the false mushroom kingdom. There’s so much to that and that part is so revolutionary for a mario game. Rare king of skill L :(
Can't wait for the brothership movie compilation that is actually gonna be a movie because we got like 3 and a half hours out of brothership videos...wow.
“This was the worst final boss in the entire series”
Bro might’ve forgotten about Shrowser (PIT)
Nobody counts showser, we all know elder princess shroob was the true final boss.
@@thermaster1209 The game itself counts him as the final boss
@@Rediscool9you’re a fool for saying the wiki is what “the game itself” considers as final boss.
from a game design perspective, Shrowser is nothing more than set dressing at the end of the game. he doesn’t test you on anything besides counterattacking
its literally bowser in purple thats it and I hate elder princess shroob that was a nightmare
@@Rediscool9the game is wrong in that instance.
Whenever Brent sees Birdo, his reaction just cracks me up. I think when you, Nick, and Sophist were saying Birdo’s beak/mouth/nose (?) looked like SpongeBob’s alarm clock. Still makes me laugh.
I like how tense the final fight theme is
I'm glad you had fun with Brothership. For me, I think the beginning and end both had their set of pacing problems but overall this game was a blast and I really hope the next M&L game doesn't take another almost decade to come out.
“Why would you put tomato slices when there’s tomato sauce?”
That, Brent, is what we like to call, a Margherita Pizza
Anyways, Happy Holidays, Brent!
And thank you for an incredibly skillful end of the year!
👍💖💕💕
Brent I feel like your problems with the final boss are purely because of you having way too much attack…like seriously the boss didn’t even get to attack in phase 1 and phase 4 and phase 3 got to attack like 5 times.
I do still think Reclusa is the weakest of the final bosses tbh
Once you get inside Weeping Reclusa he just lacks the presence and scale Cackletta Soul, Elder Princess Shroob, Fawful Core, Dreamy Bowser, and Shiny Robowser had
Dude fused with a titanic tree and once you get inside he's... literally identical to how he's been the entire time beforehand, as if the fusion didn't actually benefit Reclusa himself at all
@ to be fair if he did become a giant tree that’d mean he’d have to interact with people more. Something we all know he’d really not want to do so I honestly love how after fusing with the entire tree he effectively just uses the tree as a house to stay inside and be antisocial inside of.
Gotta agree with Brent on the music choices here. Like, if you want to use the mid boss theme for Bowser's first fight, fine but it's a little disappointing that his Glohm variant doesn't get something cool. What's even more lame is that Zokket, the main villain between Desolatt and when you fight him, just gets the lighthouse boss theme, a theme I like but very unfitting for this moment. Then there's Reclusa. His theme is fine, it gets the job done but with the bar so high, in general it leaves a lot more to be desired. Bear in mind, this isn't a dig at the entire soundtrack. I'm not some Yoko fanboy who can't stand this ost. There are just some music decisions I disagree with when it comes to bosses in the final chunk of the game.
The fact that both Bowser fights, the Extension Corps, and even *Zokket* just use the generic boss themes honestly feels insulting to the characters
I don't hold that TOO much with M&L considering all the previous games usually do that, but when we compare it to other games like the TTYD remake and it's plethora of tracks, it makes sense why one feels that way.
My true issue is that besides the regular boss battle themes, the majority of the tracks are dull/forgettable, twistee island is genuinely one of the best M&L tracks of all time and I think the disco place and shipshape island have good themes too but everything else doesn't feel memorable in the slightest...
@@OriginalGameteer Yet Bowsers Inside Story does the exact same freaking thing and y’all forgive it 😒
@@Rediscool9
I don't. It was a mistake that happened once, and SHOULDN'T have happened a second time
The Inside Story remake realized and rectified that mistake. I don't understand why the developers here then went on to repeat the issue with Brothership
@@OriginalGameteer If you acknowledge it was a mistake on Bowsers Inside Story then why did you and everyone else not have the gall to point it out and overlooked said issue with THAT game. Is it because you don’t wanna criticize something nostalgic?
Oh you mean the same remake that sold HORRIBLY and that everyone HATED and considered the original still better in every way? Yeah gee it’s sure such a freaking *mystery* that they didn’t follow through on what the extremely hated and underperformed remake rectified.
So Reclusa's whole plan was to put everyone in an Infinite Tsukuyomi, but depressing?
Yup, my room mate also immediately made that connection.^^
@@TeamStudNation1280 yeah lol. kinda crazy something like it is in a Mario game
23:49
I SPENT AN HOUR ON THAT REMATCH WITHOUT A SINGLE GAME OVER- I DIDN'T KNOW YOU COULD WEAKEN IT LIKE THAT OH MY GODDD 😭😭😭
I generally do love Reclusa, he's an insane childish person who cares for no one.
I personally found his fight more fun than Cackletta, Elder Princess Shroob and shiny robobowser [for my own reasons] even if he isn't the hardest
i just think what dragged him down is two things, lack of attacks and lack of durabilty. He does have a lot of attacks through all 4 phases but seperately it doesn't feel like it. in phase 1 he just summons enemies to attack you as you chase him, in phase 2 he has 3 attacks, throwing giant fire boulders, swiping his arm, and ice crystals. in phase 3 he has a spinning spike attack and a ramming roll attack and in phase 4 he has the combo attack and the clone attack with gaining a temper tantrum throwing attacking at half HP.
Thats a lot of attacks. More than any other Final Boss has ever had, but they are all seperated. if each phase had more attacks that which also demand a bit more from you it would have felt better
What i mean by Durability is he doens't have anything to really keep himself alive. his HP count in the last 2 phases don't pass 10k, he has no healing move nor a shielding move. the weeping core is technically his shield but acts more like a phase that loses two attacks once broken. tie all of this to you doing almost or over 2k dmg per bro each turn
So yeah, Reclusa really needed more to his fight. but despite that i think his fight is still fun, his character is great and visually is the best final boss in the series.
Weeping Reclusa made me instantly think of one thing from Kirby
The Master Tree Crown? Yes, same here
And also Sectonia since they both fused with a Plant of immense power.
Reclusa gives *heavy* Kirby Final Boss Energy. Reclusa himself only kinda but Weeping Reclusa has some Master Crown vibes and the Weeping Core is a ball with a singular eye (need I say more).
and what was it?

MARIO AND LUIGI IS BACK
21:27
i still remember killing A LOT of these things and got a total of 19k EXP
Same, it dragged on, but worth
First off, Thank you for a great year of content Brent, your playthrough's this year have been fun to see. especially seeing how happy TTYD Remake made you with it's positive changes as it was the first time I played the game. now for my Brothership thoughts
Reclusa might be the most mixed thing in this game, I have seen people who absolutely love how insane he is and all the messed up stuff he does, because like if you're stuck in that flower in your happy place you're gonna starve to death. but also people who don't like him since his antics just aren't for some others and it's a drag to get to him, also the boss song for him isn't as godlike as the other 5 in the series.
But yeah regardless of if I liked him or not (which I did) this game was a really fun time for me, my first time playing a brand new Mario RPG on release day. for me the characters in this game are like Geno and Mallow in RPG or basically everyone in TTYD, I grew to love the characters so much that I didn't want to say goodbye to them, making me really emotional at the end of the game, it's like that for this game (especially with IDLE because I can see my friend group as the wannabe heroes with Ginyu Force poses). Snoutlet is now my second favourite partner in the series now behind Dreambert (not a fan of Starlow shit talking Luigi in the last games and this game, she doesn't even call him by his name sometimes she just says "Mario's Brother" or "That Other Guy" IN FRONT OF HIM). For their first outing with this series I feel like the new developers got a lot right and made a worthy title in the series, only wishes for the next game is better pacing and more original boss songs.
15:35 you made a good choice bro 😎👍
21:03 THERE´S A WAY TO COUNTER THESE BOMBS FOR ME THEY SEEM IMPOSSIBLE
14:53 I actually used to work at a Papa John’s and we do actually serve diced tomatoes as a topping
…i also thought the same thing you did
It looked like he was analysing the bros attacks. I thought he was gonna do something like copying them alone and stroger, or do something to counter them.
What Weeping Core does it if you use any attacks against him too much, (1 one for the shells, two for any other attack) he’ll have fully analyzed it and the damage of said move will be greatly decreased, and even carry over to the Reclusa phase, albeit not as much damage reduction, but still, and the hammer or Green Shell or Clockout Blow won’t do anything to Reclusa since he floats, so those attacks won’t matter if he analyzed them in the previous phase.
@@Kirbyfan86_27 shame it didn't help whatsoever given I one-rounded him with Waitaminnit lmao
@@OriginalGameteer Same here, and I found this out by looking at his Mario wiki page, and doing the tests myself in game
@@Kirbyfan86_27 yes pretty disappointed with that mechanic because I thought it was going to copy the moves and use them against you or something. I feel like that would’ve been a really cool way for the final boss to have a bunch of extra attacks also make replaying the fight interesting.
At least you didn’t cling to Protectus like a freaking teddy bear like half the gamers I’ve seen fight Reclusa
Who needs protectus when you can outright defeat reclusia in like 2 turns per phase? :p
@ I side eye people who use wait-a-minute as well, but at least that requires a modicum of skill to achieve its full effectiveness rather than protectus.
Unless they’re using auto-excellent, then I really do have issues.
All of which I usually keep to myself, though. People can play the game how they want to, I’ve got no right to attack them over that, I just don’t like it when people go “oh that boss was easy” or “oh I’m so good at this game” when they’re spamming “instant win plugs”
@@I.T.P Honestly, pretty based way to look at it. I was kinda scared this was gonna be an "only REAL GAMERS beat this Mario game without plugs they give you" but I think it's totally fair to only pull out something like that when they're actively verbally dunking on Reclusa while they have Protectus on.

You can hear Brent slowly going insane with all the turnips he pulled 😂
Regarding the monster mania guys in this video... I forgot burns effect in the curlap, not equipping it... the bombomb took me multiple attempts, and the zokket troop was quite fun to take out with the zapperator...
3:52 You can actually cheese this attack by paying attention to the environment, as Mario's side of the field has much more space off to the side. You still have to time your counterattack, but that's not too difficult.
No matter the game, it’s always a shame to see it end. I bet you enjoyed the hell out of this game
There is no tooth fairy, there is no easter bunny, and there is no postgame in Brothership

I’m just happy the series isn’t dead
To be honest, the final boss of this game gave me some Kingdom Hearts 2 vibes
An hour long? Getting my snacks and drinks ready for this movie
“this is the worst final boss in the entire series”
the final bosses in the entire series:
bowser (but cackletta)
bowser (but he ate an alien mushroom)
bowser (but dark)
bowser (but dreamy)
bowser (but with paper armor)
Sometimes I feel like fans don’t actually look over past entries and just say the newest game’s final boss is the “worst” and automatically assume that the rest of the series had “better” final bosses.
Superstar Saga's final boss is more focused on fighting Cackletta's soul rather than Bowletta. Yes, there is a phase 1 against Bowletta, but it is shorter and the final battle is more focused on the second phase against the soul of Cackletta herself where her design has really nothing to do with Bowser.
I haven't played Partners in Time myself but I do know the whole final boss situation there, it makes complete sense to me that Elder Princess Shroob is considered to be the final boss by most people as it was clearly designed and presented as the climactic final battle of the game, where I think Shrowser is moreso meant to be one last surprise with the only dodging/countering gimmick. Again, haven't played the game myself so I could be missing something but that's just my take based on what I know.
With Bowser's Inside Story, the final boss being Dark Bowser isn't wrong, but remember that that's quite literally only half the battle. Mario and Luigi have their final battle with Fawful fused with the dark star core, and the fight is won upon defeating that rather than Dark Bowser (there is Bowser's final attack against Dark Bowser at the end but that's the same idea as the final hammer strikes against Reclusa, you essentially already won at that point in both cases).
With Dream Team and Paper Jam, that's just true, it's just Bowser.
From a purely gameplay perspective, I do personally agree Reclusa is the weakest of the final bosses in the series (that I've played). I still really liked the fight and I struggled a bit because I wasn't using any battle plugs, but even then Reclusa has fewer and generally simpler attacks and doesn't really have a whole lot of health compared to the other final bosses (other than maybe Cackletta's soul) while the amount of damage you can do with bros attacks and decent gear equipped is pretty crazy.
@@WoomyKirby i’m just making a joke here, man. i’m a fan of the series. it’s just nice to have some variety in the final bosses.
also, if i really wanted to S T R E T C H
you technically see the “phase 1” of the superstar saga and bowser’s inside story final bosses die AFTER you take out the “core”
so boswer is technically the final boss for both of those games
can’t make a joke without people trying to make life more complicated
@someperson7491 didn't realize it was a joke, that's kinda on me, i just assumed given the general discourse I've been seeing surrounding this particular final boss lmao. It was nice to see Bowser wasn't a part of the final boss in this game though. Tbh I kinda just put my thoughts and reasons behind them somewhere mostly because I felt like it i guess idk
I swear the images you put in your videos every time you come across a Grampy Turnip with dead silence was funnier than the turnips themselves

When I played the game. If you are at full health you can tank the final explosion from the extension corps with the emerganvy gaurd.
19:53 I did not think of using fire when I did this side quest. I just used jump attacks until it died 😅
19:44 Wait. You could do that? Before you say it, do not ask me how long this took. That was enough jumping to turn Mario & Luigi's boots into nothing but fine ash.

7:43 the forceful OINK killed me!
37:45 Ah yes,Epic Foreshadowing
45:10 Brent’s least favorite part in the entire game lmao
In my opinion, I think Reclusa is a very underrated villain compared to the rest of the series. While he's not as cool as Cackletta or Antasma, he still had a dark scheme to turn everyone into mindless zombies trapped in their own fantasy land while he rules the world alone.
Also, his boss theme is fine, regarding how it was the music director from Pokémon Mystery Dungeon who did it. They did a good job, and maybe Yoko will return to help cook more iconic themes, but I enjoyed em a lot.
The ending is probably the most climactic after everything, because usually its just "yeah, we beat a form of Bowser, everyone is happy now." While this youre saying goodbye to all the fun and interesting NPCs from this world, so it was very emotional seeing us leave Connie and Snoutlet.
I loved this game all the way through. I had very little complaints besides the Mushroom Kingdom dream dragging on for too long. Very charming with great character designs, personality, action, humor, and charm. Everything showing that AlphaDream never lost its touch after all these years.
This is like MLP but without ponies and not boss music
Yes. You can survive the extension corp explosion. I was a level above them and just emergency guarded and it did very negligible damage. It was like 70 for Mario and like 30-50 for Luigi since I made Luigi the tank.

Yeah, he’s super good. I do not know why people are hating on him. sure his dialogue is pretty simple but he’s a god like being with childlike tendencies, making him really terrifying in my opinion. Someone with that immaturity should not have that much power, but he’s primordial and has already destroyed countless worlds. you get a glimpse of how that could happen to concordia through these flowers
Yeah, I know hes not liked but jesus christ Reclusa actually got me scared. Like Death and Puss in boots level of fear.
@@Zyckro I love his dialogue, it’s very entertaining to me and he’s literally just a psychopath who wants to take over worlds with isolation, and doesn’t know how strong Bonds are until he meets the brothers, seriously just a well written antagonist 11/10 from me
I agree that this game drags you a lot, get slow some places, good combat, music is decent, in my opinion I think this is base game, then they will improve it further and I know we will get another game in the future happy holidays
33:47 bro they brought it back that. I remember when kakaleta do that attack when i had my guard down
Congrats, King of Bonds! I beat this game recently and I had the same exact feeling. The game just has a lot of gratuitous parts that just end up making the game drag on a bit too long. And, I agree that Reclusa is pretty lame compared to many of the other Mario & Luigi villains.
Some of the Battle Plugs and Bros. Attacks make you a bit too OP. Though, I understand that Nintendo wants to make Mario RPGs for all player skill levels. I just wish that you could have a harder mode to choose from the start. Though, all in all, the game does have a lot of the ingredients that make a good Mario RPG! I really hope we get to see more Mario & Luigi games in the future! I wouldn't mind seeing Fawful again, too!
