You know you're a FFXI veteran, when the Lufaise Meadows 'thunderclap' roars ( 58:13 ) even on high volume, yet it surprises you about as much as a slight whistle noise during a nasal exhale. I always loved the weather effect that starts around 5:40 for some reason. You hear these "calls" in the distance and every time I heard it, I imagined that the "bright" call, was a scrawny Wyvern hatchling and the deep call was some really 'chunky' Wyvern, calling back from the other side of the map... I'm weird!
i see a lot of people come here for the nostalgia saying how much they miss this game, i urge you all to come back, the game needs more people that arent botting or RMT, we need the old people back that really love the game, if anyone reads this and wants to join me on Asura server i'm Cloudius, send me a /tell for a Linkshell
I recovered my account in July and it was just so sad. The magic feeling this game once gave you was just not there. Walking through the zones that all had zero players in it was heart breaking. The memories I once made with my friends in this world can never be replicated. The feelings this game gave can never be replicated!
They had 1 job involving the 20th anniversary, and they failed. big time. They had a chance to make this game great again, and refused to do it. As much as I loved FFXI, it's basically dead now. 75 cap meant a hell of a lot more than what the game has turned into these days.
I made it to sea in 2007 before they nerfed stuff. It was so upsetting at times but the victories outweighed the losses. Went like 1/23 on Airship fight. Tenzen was a joke, snoll was a nightmare.
I’m back after a year break, not leaving. I feel like this game is like a relative in stage 4 cancer that I have come to visit in its last year of existence. People need to sub and/or SE needs to make an offline version of the game or something or a lot of people are going to be really upset

Lots of memories here, camping Padfoot with friends and covering as much of his pops locaitons as possible. Also CoP ruled.
