Thanks Lil, I picked this up as soon as I could get my hands on it. Was so excited for a book with Mary's POV, a rarity.
I'm nearly finished, 50+ pages to go. Thoroughly enjoyed. I knew Weir would do Mary justice and not jump on the Bloody Mary brigade. Sad this series is over!

Loved hearing your thoughts on this book, I'm looking forward to reading it. I also loved Elizabeth of York and was less keen on Henry VIII, although maybe that was because I know so much about him already and nothing about his mother.

As a migraine sufferer, I do sympathise with your headaches 😢😞 It’s awful 😣
    Hope you feel better soon.
I am going to read this book too as Mary is currently my least favourite out of all the Tudors so I would like to learn more about her.
    I might change my mind!
    Thank you 😊

I'm really looking forward to this book! I also think Mary is often misunderstood, and I think she's a fascinating person to read about. I'm still working my way through the Six Tudor Queens series and then I'd love to jump into this series, though I may skip the Henry book (at least for now).

I did this book a few months ago. It was very good. Is she going to write one about Elizabeth of York‘s mother-in-law?

Ask your midwife to check your blood pressure it can raise a little during pregnancy. Mine went up a bit when I was expecting my twin girls ❤❤

I do now have high blood pressure, midwife put me on meds for it and I go to see them weekly to check but the headaches are still there.

One thing I picked up on though when reading was Mary's continuous naivety and ignorance of certain topics and her blindness and trust in certain people especially as she got older. Found it a little grating and unrealistic at times. I kind of wanted to shake her, tell her to wise up.
She so often would say surely not, this couldn't be true, I don't believe it when the truth was so obvious. A woman as learned and intelligent as Mary couldn't be that naive.
She also was often indecisive, struggled with her conscience and sought advice from various people Chapuys, Renard, Phillip etc instead of being a bit more assertive and making her own mind up. Maybe she just looked for a father figure and love with these men.
