Back in 05 i had one, it was my first car in high school, bought it at an auction for $900 bucks nothin wrong with it, it was mint condition had lsd rear and it had back seats, car never gave me issues for the 5 years I had it

Context: Me: 21 yo, Eastern European, working at my first job at a tyre reseller company (i've got sweet-sweet premium contact 6's with 0922 dot for cheap) , studying economics at uni, and and learning automotive mechatronics at night school. I have an 04 SEAT Toledo (Spanish vw jetta, with audi a3 interior) love the car suspension geometry wise it's pretty amazing some wide tyres, and you just go out and singlehandedly gangbang everything in corners. But the 1.6l engine isn't enough anymore.... and that's where the story begins.
I've decided that the next 10-11 month will be time for me to put together some money and to decide what will i buy. The money shit is fine but it's hard to decide what the fuck i want to buy when for literally the same price i can get an fc RX-7 with a spinni boi, or a Mitsubishi Gallant with the 2.5 v6, or an Audi S4 with the 2.8 V6, or a Skoda SuperB with the 2.8 V6, or SEAT Leon Cupra 4 with the 2.8 vr6 and awd, or the same fucking car I own but with the 2.3l vr5.
There is an obvious tendency that can be seen here for VW group power sedans (and a hatchback) but when half of their cars are assembled in your country there is both know how and spare parts if you want to mess around.

My grandma (mothers side)bought an fc rx7 in red and thought it was just a more luxurious Mazda. At around 2005 she gave up on it, and stored it in a barn and got a Nissan Rouge. So when my dad (a car guy) found out about it, he asked if he could buy it, and she didn’t understand why he was willing to take it for 15 grand, thinking it was worth less than 5,000. So as a family discount, my father got an FC for 2 and a half grand…

One of my favorite cars, such an underrated beast
I loved my FC's, had 3 of them 2 turbo 2s and a daily non turbo. These cars were a trip to own definitely kicked the crap out of some Mustangs, Cameron and Corvettes (best cars to beat). To bad it's harder to get rebuilt engines now.

The first engine i worked on was a 13b from a fb rx7 with my dad and ive been DREAMING of a fc since he told me "You think this ones cool wait till you see its big brothers"
I own a 1988 RX-7. Mine is the GTU trim, completely with 4 piston brakes with vented rotors in the front and rear, a limited slip differential, and a pretty robust drivetrain. 1.3L 13B NA, 5 speed manual.

I love the car, super fun to work on, haven’t gotten to drive it yet though haha 😂 I’m rebuilding the engine currently, bought it for $2k and it had been sitting in a field for 20 years, so all the side seals were stuck and the apex seals are super worn, everything else is good though luckily
My first car was an 88 944, never really noticed the fc was so similar until you mentioned it

I love rx-7's and rotaries but I love my s13 even more which is why ill swap t2 13b into it so I can have best of both worlds🥰

Did a clutch in one of these and got to drive it for 10 mins never giggled in a car so much before most fun I’ve ever had

There is an FC RX7 near me, that has been sitting in a parking lot for six years. It’s in rough shape. The guy who owns it wants a lot of money for it. I almost bought it because…well it’s an RX7. But then I realized I’m in my last year of college, and I could put the money towards something way more important…but I have no idea if that was the right decision.
RX-7 FC and Supra A70 are the underrated 80s JDM legends that you can still get for cheap. Get one before the prices go bonkers.

I love the fc and fd, was planning on even getting an fc. After I added up the total for a build I would do, and it would be near an fd price so I’d rather just save for that.

I prefer the FD over the FC but I love when I see a clean FC out in the wild or online.
I’m a huge fan of the 944 and Japanese cars so this is a great combo
Big important thing to note: 13B n/a and 13B turbo are two different engines. Dont slap a turbo on the na thinking its gonna work, iirc its cuz the dorito’s cylinder walls were thinner than the 13B turbo. They beefed up the walls to handle the pressure for the turbo version, but didnt carry that over to the n/a
The fd is amazing but the fc is awesome too.
I just don't know if the FD is worth it for the price hike vs. the FC. Thoughts?
@@AlexMartini. I view the FC same way I do the Mk3 Supra. Very under rated, and has a great body style. Most people don’t like them which is why I love seeing enthusiasts mod or restore them
Rotarys are super cool but i would just personally prefer a piston engine.
Saw a lot in US do a v8 swap in it. Outside of America , those cars still run with a rotary and few runs with a RX8 motor.
I love those RX-7 but I’ll just stick to my S281

I think what keeps people away is a lack of knowledge of a rotory motor. That's what kept me away from RX's
Knowledge is key with them, that’s for sure. It’s a bit like an air cooled car too!

Mazda ended it’s third generation of the RX-7 series with a limited run of the highly desirable ‘Spirit R’. Powered by a revvy 13B-REW rotary engine with twin Hitachi turbochargers, it featured an enhanced braking system and lightweight red-trim Recaro bucket seats amongst other extras. Named as one of the best handling and well-balanced cars of all time, the FD-3S Spirit R is just asking for enhancement.
