    I just want Google Fiber to bring competition to Verizon, Comcast, and AT&T. Google is gonna help netflix and others in the long run. They are gonna get much funding by many.

      @excesivewheels 10 лет назад +11

      It's already obliterating the competition in the cities where it is.

      Andrew Bourgeois I could see why. However, they are doing in the right. They are offering the best service.

    • @memnarch129
      @memnarch129 9 лет назад +4

      Gage Eakins Best service at the best PRICE. Now I wouldnt mind paying 5-6$ a month for the shitty speeds I get, but paying what I do which is 30-40 a month for roughly 20 down and 2-3 up is robbery.

    • @CutiePi
      @CutiePi 9 лет назад +1

      Andrew Bourgeois yes and until google fiber isn`t a large problem for these companies they won`t do anything. And when google is going to be dangerous they will offer decent speed and prices. But we will not deceive google. They will have my subscription.

    • @GageEakins

      ***** Google Fiber has a few different prices.
      $0.00/mo: includes 5Mbits/s up and down - $300.00 construction fee - No contract
      $69.99/mo: includes 1000Mbits/s speeds up and down - no construction fee - 2 year contract
      $129.99/mo: includes 1000Mbits/s speeds up and down, 150+ HD/SD channels - no construction fee - 2 year contract

    I hope Google Fiber comes to Boston. Comcast is just pure fucking shit, overpriced and overall awful service. I get about 92 mbps down and 12 mbps up (with new modem plus $10 fee) before I had 28 mbps and 8 up. I pay for internet/phone/cable. My average bill is $ 250+, it's ridiculous. Sometimes my cable blacks out and sometimes my modem resets, absolutely terrible.

    Just got google fiber in my apartment here in austin, tx this weekend.....the MOMENT the awesome install guy left i called TWC and canceled that garbage. They tried to hard to keep me offering me 600mb d/l for $89 all of sudden. I was paying out the nose for their trash internet service and the install tech tested their service on a speed test website and all we were getting was 9mb down maybe 2 up with 30ms ping. Then turned on the fiber and got 300mb down on wifi not directly plugged in and roughly the same up with a 3 ms ping.
    BURN IN HELL TWC.

    It's sad that only one company is selling fiber optics while the big ISP's is too busy ripping off their customers with capping/throttling speeds/forcing you to get cable tv with internet with $150 plan. Meanwhile you can just get 5mbps speeds from Google and you don't have to pay a single dime

      Fact is most cities already have fibre lines running in them, mostly used by Federal and Local buildings. Bottom line is the old ISPs/Telecom companies are too cheap to run them from the mains to private residences and know they can gouge the hell out of shitty broadband as long as it runs better than the extremely shitty version you get for your 20-40 bucks.

    Judging from the future coverage map, San Antonio, TX is in the works. I live just outside San Antonio..15 miles or so. If Google fiber does become available in my area, I'm going to ditch my un-reliable wireless broadband provider ..South Texas Internet. 100.00 a month for 15Mbps down and 2Mbps up. But, they are my only choice in my rural area. To hell with satellite ..nope.
    Dsl is available, but f-ing copper thieves are always messing up the lines, so phones are out 80% of the time. Fiber optic is expensive to roll out, but the savings in the long run would be worth it. No market for stolen fiber optic cable.

    Don't know why this other's companies are complaining, is not like they are bringing unlimited real fast broadband to other cities, the majority in the U.S.A. don't have unlimited high speed internet, Google Fibler should bring their service to cities and towns that have no service of unllimited broadband, where I live in Yakima, WA, United States. Google Fiber should bring this service to Yakima County in WA, U.S.A. they should team up with Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Valve, this big video games companies that people play online games, buy video games online, movies online, stream movies on Netflix, Amazon. The U.S. government should be helping this kind of companies that actually want to bring Unlimited Broadband everywhere and that is good business for the United States and other companies that use the internet to sell stuff, like Amazon, Walmart, Kmart, Target, Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, Netflix, obvious RUclips, the politicians are so dam stupid, they don't realize that if everyone had Unlimited High Speed Internet, people can actually see them debate when they are running for office, why is nobody telling this to the politicians in the United States why this will benefit all of us, imagine your kid is sick to go to school but in the same time they can put video's in schools connected to the internet and the teacher can be streaming video live, and the student can still be learning, also streaming live videos for classes in college would be better idea, for people who want to learn at their homes. Who ever read this should make a copy and give it to any politician, there should have been already Unlimited High Speed Internet everywhere, how is it possible that we don't have it everywhere, when we already have 4K Televisions, Bluray Discs, PC's that can watch and play video games at 4K, Smart Phones are more stronger and battery last longer. This other companies like, Century Link, Charter, Comcast, At&t and other's have been lazy and just making people more money, what Google is trying to do is a good thing, they brought their Broadband service that quick and they are new to this, wow.

    I despise today's cable, fiber (except for Google Fiber; if only it could be rolled out faster, but apparently there are many impediments keeping that from happening sooner), and cellular (wireless) Internet service providers. That's why I'm starting a satellite-based Internet service provider within the next ten years or so (once I've gotten all the money, of course)! The satellites will have 100% global coverage, and they will orbit at 200 miles above Earth, and will be able to maintain that orbit for up to twenty-five years. There will be 1,024 satellites, arranged into thirty-two orbital planes of thirty-two satellites per orbital plane, which will enable contiguous, seamless, 100% global network coverage. I will offer satellite telephone, satellite radio, satellite television, satellite Internet, and other miscellaneous satellite-based services; as far as Internet service goes, however, there will be absolutely no data caps whatsoever imposed on any customers, which is pretty much a far cry from current satellite-based Internet service providers--as all current ones now have what is known as a fair access policy (F.A.P.)--due to bandwidth constraints of the networking hardware utilized with current satellite-based systems in use today.
    Because my satellites would be located in a 200-mile orbit, signals will take no more than a minimum of 2.15 milliseconds for at least a 400-mile round-trip from the ground to the closest overhead-orbiting satellite to you; even if you wanted to link with another computer directly from the of the opposite side of the planet--which would mean your signal would have to travel at least 200 miles up to a satellite, then that satellite would have to pass the signal off in near-straight trajectory across many other orbiting satellites that are a part of the whole constellation a minimum of 12,500 miles, then the signal would be sent down another 200 miles from the satellite located closest to the opposite side of the planet where the signal originated; then it would have to be sent back up to that satellite another 200 miles, then rerouted back to where the signal originated at least another 12,500 miles, then it would finally be sent another 200 miles back to the original device after reaching the first satellite, which would imply a minimum round-trip distance of 25,800 miles--however, the round-trip latency would be a mere 161 milliseconds (and this is value is measured from rounding up to 30,000 miles, to account for any additional latency losses). This completely dispels the myth that satellites are and can only transmit bandwidth with unacceptably-high latencies; and not only that, but the latency would actually be lower in many cases!
    Furthermore, all the data would be stored on the satellites themselves, instead of data centers on the ground, which would probably get around many governmental laws and regulations that dictate what can be stored on servers located within the jurisdiction of a particular country; the signals would be passed off to the ground to satellite stations, which would not store any data, but only transfer information to and from the main terrestrial-based, infrastructural Internet backbone that is the heart of the Internet itself! The data sent to and from satellites would be encrypted, scrambled, and obfuscated through multiple layers of software-based and hardware-based levels of security, which would only be even furthered through the very simple and elegant, yet very effective method of security through obscurity, as all the hardware and software would be developed from the ground-up!
    There will be no terms of service imposed upon any customer; all service agreements will be completely non-contractual; there will be no roaming charges or data overage charges, because the network will be designed from the very beginning to support potentially billions of users, while being truly unlimited, and at the same time completely wireless. Now, let me get to the bandwidth prices: All of the following are based on unlimited, symmetrical (meaning upload and download speeds are identical), full-duplex (enables users to simultaneously send and receive data; it's basically like having two dedicated Internet pipes for one price), monthly rates: 1 Mbps: free; 10 Mbps: $10 a month; 100 Mbps: $20 a month; 1 Gbps: $50 a month; 10 Gbps: $100 a month; 100 Gbps: $250 a month; 1 Tbps: $500 a month; anything over 1 Tbps will be priced in multiples of $500, per 1 Tbps of additional bandwidth; these are based on prices for 2025, which is the earliest date I expect to go online with this satellite-based Internet service provider.
    I will also have developed a completely customized, proprietary wireless integrated circuit--radically different from anything available today--which can be utilized in smartphones, tablets, wireless adapters, satellite dishes (either stationary-based or mobile-based), and many other devices that can make use of such hardware. As far as tracking goes, you could even get the signal traveling at orbital velocity, and the connection would still be as smooth as if you were stationary! Now, I just have to figure out how to get the funding, hmmmmm.
