i played this as my second tune in a club in basildon and emptied the place my frends in the dj box elete fm massive said "great we now have the bar to ourselfs" lololol
I spoke to Nico about this tune at Metalheadz bank holiday do at Heaven in '96. Told him my homey stated it sounded like an oil tanker collapsing into the ocean. Fortunately, he appreciated the analogy! Such a nasty tune and still one of my favourites from this era. Was always gassed when a Nu Black release dropped. Proper filth!
Was this 95 or 96? whatever - listen, it is almost unbelievable that this tune came out then, because the sound is so ahead of the time, it's like Nico had a TARDIS: catch the future tunes and bring em back for us to hear in the 90s. This tune has such a jaunt, such a cadence that is utterly unique...
These mans were churning out tune after tune to a backdrop of serious serious ganja, dont think they hardly left the studio for the best part of 2 years. 96 into 97 sounds bang on here though. lots of other tunes were(i think) made earlier and released later. Some way later.
there was loads of tunes from No U turn in 96/97 like this, their sound around that time is all like this. All the beginning of techstep was like this, you could argue that No U turn changed jungle into d&b. (up for debate)
nico said this was made to clear dancefloors. panacea sampled the paris breaks from this for stormbringer.

A heavy heavy tune, jheeeeeeze. Big up Fierce and Nico.
Proud to be one of those who bought it at the time. Brutal!!
This is real art , if you know then you know ....Classic
ahead of it's time? what are you guys talking about - this WAS the sound. it's all been downhill since. Peak DNB.
ahead of their time, in the sense that this style is long due a revival, maybe soon ?
Damn.....25 years ago I was raving to this. Got enough NUT vinyls BITD....filthy label! They don't make riddims like this anymore....too bad!!
the breakbeat sounds like it is trying to escape from a straitjacket
Bad Tune 👊 👊👊👊👊👊👊👊
Hard to believe that such a monumental and rolling tune came out in 96. Proof again that Nico and crew were way ahead of their time.
Of all the No U-Turn tracks I've heard, and Techstep being my favorite sub-genre of Drum & Bass....I've never heard this one before! Amazing..
Where are you going raving bro ?
Man Fierce had his hands on everything that was good back in the day didn’t he? Feel like I’ve been sleeping on him
Fierce was the bass man according to him. Quadrant VIP, The End Pt II, Brok to name a few
Brilliant, the No U Turn sound is unrivaled. Delicious darkness.
true masterpice! heavy and satisfying in every aspect
Those people who disliked must've had their phones upside down.
wow, never heard this one, impressed...
Straight up gully 96 drum and bass.......this is a good indicator as to why not much old school d&b used to get played on radio in 90s 😁

When I saw the release date I thought the exact same thing
Ahead of its time? Were you there? Seems not. Many great tech steps from 96
Sounds like pretty much everything else on No U Turn at the time...
