This is one of the most powerful and honest interviews I have ever watched. I’m one of Ashley’s Instagram followers and sobbed when Stevie died and understood absolutely why they made the decision to bring her home. My beloved father died of Cancer and my idea that his death was painful not traumatic mirrors Ashley’s experience.
Thank you for doing this podcast and for sharing Stevie with all of us. She was truly a shooting star of the most special order.

This interview was fucking intense. It was an emotional rollercoaster and I hung on to every single word. I cried, I was in awe of her bravery, I was angry that anyone would judge her grief or their choices on how to navigate an unimaginable loss. WOW! This interview and the 2 with your brother are my absolute favorites. This was so raw and honest. Jon you just let her tell her story, organically and honestly. This was a beautiful experience and I feel honored that she shared it with us. ❤

I have watched two branches of my family lose children and I have never seen grief like that. It is so much more visceral than other loss. I am astounded by the courage and resolve demonstrated by parents who have experienced such loss.

Thank you for this interview. I would like to share that I am currently navigating a deeply personal challenge, as my husband has been battling cancer for the past three years. We have recently made the difficult decision to cease all treatment, and I am committed to being present with him to cherish the time we have left together.
I sometimes sense that others may perceive my calm demeanor as a sign that I am not coping well, leading to feelings of judgment based on their expectations of how I should react. In light of this, I have begun reaching out to family, friends, and the Creek Nation to inform them of his condition, some of whom were unaware of his illness. This has led to further scrutiny, with questions regarding why I had kept this information private, which can be quite overwhelming.
Throughout this journey, my primary focus has been on my husband's well-being, placing his needs above all others. For the past three years, we have faced this battle together, and now I am learning how to involve others as we approach this challenging stage of our fight. My commitment remains steadfast in loving him and supporting him as he prepares for the journey ahead.

The part that stood out the most was her describing connecting with Jon’s wife and saying that even though their child’s’ medical situation had a different outcome, their trauma and grief was still just as valid. As a mom who navigated her 1 year old getting an autoimmune disease diagnosis, it really hit home. Again, different situation I’m in no way comparing, but I remember having to tell her big sister what was happening, she asked me “is she going to die?” Nothing prepares you for having conversations like that as a parent and they really do stay with you forever. We did monthly biologic infusions in the cancer ward as her treatment and I remember going there during the start of Covid and it was the first time I drove my car in 4 weeks. It was covered in dust and everyone was all masked up. Anyway this episode was a total gut punch and I related a lot. It’s invaluable for moms to be sharing their journeys. The Facebook support group I got into after my toddlers diagnosis felt like it saved my life or at least my sanity. I don’t know this particular mommy blogger but there is so much good moms are doing to lift each other up and have each other’s backs.

I got twins who are 3. This has been humbling to say the least. I remeber when my father passed away when I was younger from ALS and as his son I was mad at him and held resentment for years . I felt he left me, my brother and my mom. It took years to realize I was being selfish and young . This interview made me look at it from a parents point of view. For him I can't imagine getting a terminal disease and knowing you will pass and not be able to be with your sons and guide them through life. This woman is the strongest form of human I have ever seen. I want to hug her ! Thanks John

Great interview. Ashley was wonderful🙏🏼🙏🏼 I lost my daughter, also. I have 2 boys. They were all a bit older but grief is grief and she’s absolutely right! Grief doesn’t go away, EVER; it just changes. It’s been almost 12 years for our family. For me, I miss my girl everyday and sometimes it feels like I lost her yesterday and sometimes it’s like she’s getting too far away and I’ve got to hold on tighter. I’m so glad I saw this episode. It gave me hope. Sometimes it’s easy to lose that along life’s path.

My wife and I are grief parents. It's crazy how we can relate with Ashley and her story. Our daughter was 19 when she went to God. Our story is different (not cancer). Losing a child is a nightmare you don't wake up from. You don't realize the life you live before the loss.. it's in the clouds, when she died, we dropped from the clouds to hell on earth. God bless you, Ashley and Ben. Hugs and Love from us.

I felt the same way ! When I had to make the decision to take my daughter off of machines I went into fight mode of making sure my daughter was NOT GOING TO SUFFER. And yes it’s terrible to give that news to my parents and just anyone for them to come say goodbye. Also I was getting hugs from doctors and nurses before I had the final conversation my daughter was completely brain dead, I could not understand why they were hugging me
