If this guy were on "pop" radio the world would be a better place. Real musicians are a true blessing to this world and this guy is that without a doubt one of the best out there!
This is songwriting at its best. It's perfection. I found this gem on Spotify's radio "songs based on" this morning. His voice is so rich and expressive like the finest dark chocolate or coffee with all the subtle overtones your tongue can't quite comprehend...It's a memorable morning when a song like this is selected by chance for you to hear... especially after a heartfelt prayer. There are times you pray honestly and you know God is listening and He sends you the message. "I heard you." Redemption is real.
I think some do, some don't, but I think the vast majority of them don't have time. It's a beautiful thing they share these pieces of their souls with us on the internet for free to begin with - let's just appreciate it for what it is, and if they get to acknowledge the applause, that's just icing on the cake.
I forgot how to smile as a sober man I forgot how to laugh as a kid I forgot what it's like to hold a woman's hand And not lead her straight to my bed I forgot how to kiss and mean it Every pause, every slip of my tongue I've been loyal to the wants of my lustful heart And unfaithful to my friend, love But you remind me who I was and who I want to be You remind me that though not whole, I'm not empty There are things I lost in the fire of time Things I thought again I'll never see But when it's hard for me to recall my name You remind me You've been quick to dismiss all my apologies My confessions seem to only waste your time I thought grace was in the clouds among the heavenly But now it's staring me right in the eyes You remind me who I was and who I want to be You remind me that though not whole, I'm not empty There are things I lost in the fire of time Things I thought again I'll never see But when it's hard for me to recall my name You remind me You remind me You remind me
i wonder why most artists don't realize how much it woulld mean if the artist would take 5 seconds to say thanks for the positive fan remarks as a comment on their own videos

"You remind me that though not whole, I'm not empty". Beautiful!
Adrian Butler 7 years passed and still one of my favorite lines ever
That line always hits.
I just heard this song for the first time on This Is Us and now I can't get enough. Simply beautiful
It gives me chills everytime I listen to this.
My favorite song, possibly of all time.
I'm on my 6th consecutive listen... It refuses to get old..
thank you 'this is us' for letting me discover this beautiful song
David, you write such beautiful love songs. So open, honest, and real. Whoever you are writing this to is a lucky woman.
Never fails to move me. Just love this guy

Truly the best songwriting I've heard in a good long while.
Probably my favorite song of all time.
There's something calming about this tune. Loving it.
Real musician, composer and wise man, I hope he continue with this land-job
He is definitely one of the best songwriters of Austin. 'Fire Of Time' is a blessing for my ears...

Amazing,beautiful,great
Wow o3
Worthy of the inner sanctum. Beautiful song.
I forgot how to smile as a sober man
I forgot how to laugh as a kid
I forgot what it's like to hold a woman's hand
And not lead her straight to my bed
I forgot how to kiss and mean it
Every pause, every slip of my tongue
I've been loyal to the wants of my lustful heart
And unfaithful to my friend, love
But you remind me who I was and who I want to be
You remind me that though not whole, I'm not empty
There are things I lost in the fire of time
Things I thought again I'll never see
But when it's hard for me to recall my name
You remind me
You've been quick to dismiss all my apologies
My confessions seem to only waste your time
I thought grace was in the clouds among the heavenly
But now it's staring me right in the eyes
You remind me who I was and who I want to be
You remind me that though not whole, I'm not empty
There are things I lost in the fire of time
Things I thought again I'll never see
But when it's hard for me to recall my name
You remind me
You remind me
You remind me
