Paul Restorer Thanks Paul, yes I try to make all repairs invisible and in keeping with how the model should look. There are lots of restorers on RUclips cutting corners and that’s not how I operate. Cheers, Craig
I still have one of those from my own childhood but the freight deck was already missing then. Now I know how it looked at last. It sould actually not be too difficult to build a replica. Thanks!
@@elitediecastrestorationdin4557 Hi! What I normally do is construct such parts myself. I am not that much into increasing the collectors value and will sooner build things from scratch out of bare metal, plastic, wood or whatever. The cheaper the better, although the endresult must of cours be convincing enough.
Looks great. I have an identical truck which I'm going to try restoring. I've had a look at it for years but only now am I ready to have a go. Problem is though that I just fished it out of the shed and found that the cab has broken off from the chassis. Any ideas how I might reattach it? I also have a blue chassis with the first cab type which I'm starting to think was supposed to be a tanker version. Any opinions?
Raymond Brooks hi mate, I’d use a combination of pinning the break and the superglue and baking powder option. Get the pins in as deep as you dare using steel or brass rod. Grind a v shaped channel at the actual crack and fill that layer by layer with superglue then baking powder until it’s built up to where you want it, sand and finish off, you’d never know. If it’s turns out it’s beyond your means, send it to me mate and I’ll fix it for you. The blue one, probably a ‘Regent’ tanker, beautiful model! The tanks are being reproduced but are not cheap, will also need a ladder too from memory. I’ve got one somewhere, a future resto but a spectacular display piece when finished. Feel free to email me pics if you need any advice along the way and good luck!
@@elitediecastrestorationdin4557 Thanks very much for the quick reply Craig. Hmmm, I like the idea but I might have to send it up to you to re-attach the cab. I'll dwell on it for a while. I've seen the ladders etc on eBay but haven't seen the actual tank yet. As long as I've had it there was no tank on it so I just assumed it was another flat bed. I'll let you know if I'm not game enough to attempt the cab myself and go from there. Thanks again.
Excellent job, especially on the posts. I've done a few of these and the posts/chains can be a pain to replace. Well handled 👏👏👍

Marc Brassé hi Marc, yes you can buy all the parts you need to restore it nowadays, but pretty expensive. Good luck!

Please landscape your camera, the video is hard to watch.
Been in landscape for some time now mate, only the first few were portrait, I had no idea what I was doing.😊
