@@Dead25m Brother. They both led the rebellion against the top side (the ending of which is shown in the very first scene of the show).
Vander then made deals with the enforcers to pacify the undercities. For this he had to remove people like Silco who wanted revenge against Piltover. That was Vander's betrayal. Silco recounts the attempted murder several times in episodes 2, 3, 5 and 9.

You two are both so incredibly sharp. You've picked up on so many of the subliminal themes that I'm not sure everyone sees -- the parallels between Silco and Vander, and Powder and Vi; the nuance of Silco's villainy; the pain of having someone you love hurt and reject you. I've seen many older youtubers have much less mature reactions to Powder's mistake (blaming her, cheering when Vi hits her), so you guys are like...a breath of fresh air.

I find this episode so hard because ultimately everyone was working to their best intention so who is there to blame.
Vander sacrificed himself to save Vi.
Vi, Clagger and Mylo were saving Vander.
    Powder was saving her sister.
At the end, you can’t blame Vi for her reaction because she just watched everyone die. But you can’t blame Powder for what she did because she did it to save her sister.

I can't get over how good the depiction of a child having a mental breakdown is when Powder is left alone by the gang, with her screaming and hitting herself. I think It's interesting too how Silco was prepared to kill Powder (knife in hand) but was disarmed by her. He had nothing to gain from taking her in, yet he empathized with her.
Btw, I'm very happy that you appreciate the non-romantic relationships between the characters. Love and hate between characters doesn't need to be romantic to be interesting, and this series knows how to tackle non romantic relationships. It's a shame that some people in the community try to force characters into romance when the series itself is doing Its best to avoid that.

There's a neat little detail I picked up on watching the scene with Silco/Powder. Where she's hugging him and he starts to raise his hand he pauses, and for a moment the way the camera pans between him and his minions you know he's facing a choice: take Powder in, or end her. The pause is really subtle, but the slow way he brings his hand down emphasizes the moment he makes his choice. Such a nice detail in terms of body language that you don't usually see in animated shows.

Vi looking at her hands goes a little further as while she was holding Powder's face after hitting her, blood dripped from Powder's nose down to Vi's hand. She actually had her little sister's blood on her hand and she was the cause of that.

It’s something I’ve seen with many reactors (and by now I’ve seen my fair share).
People try to find the “bad guy” or the villain. But in this show there aren’t really villains, just people with their own agenda, motives and methods.
And while some are more morally and ethically questionable, like Silco, you can’t really say he’s a villain. And I think the show is that more realistic because of this.
If you took this story and replaced the enforcers with nazi occupiers, we would probably see Silco as the a resistance hero and Vander as collaborator. And from Silco’s perspective, this is exactly the case.

    • @mariebourgot4949

Riot studios/League of Legends allows most of their entire, full cinematics, music videos and game IPs to be used for personal projects, creative projects, and streamers without copyright penalty as long as it credits and supports League of Legends and is used for original creative content. Reactions with full cinematics are allowed. So are most of their music videos allowed to be displayed in full as part of a reaction (aside from the original Warriors by Imagine Dragons for some reason).
Riot Studios proclaimed: "We love our players and the awesome stuff they create. We support players who use our intellectual property (“IP”) to create free fan projects for the benefit of the community ('Projects')."
This definitely does not include Arcane as Netflix and Fortiche also have say in the copyright.
(But feel free to react in full to League of Legends amazing cinematics and music videos. They are just as amazing as the Arcane series. Tales of Runeterra can be done in full, and they show little cinematics of each of the countries of the world of Arcane, including Piltover.)

There is no bad or good guys, just people living their lives and making decisions that they think is write but sometimes they are wrong or made for the wrong reasons.
Like Silco he wants the undercity to be free, so he has noble goals but his methods are questionable but you can understand why, someone he considered his brother tried to murder him. So you can see how and why he would become so extreme now. That is the biggest reason i love this show, it is amazing all around but the characters are just so freaking real and you can see everyones point of view, even if you disagree with them you get why they do what they do, right or wrong.

One of the things you guys slightly pointed out is this feels more like real life and that’s why the emotional pull is far stronger. I really appreciate that Riot games isn’t Disney. In Disney films everything always works out in the end. But in real life that’s not always the case. Riot games isn’t afraid to show sad and horrifying things because that’s what happens in real life. These aren’t cartoon characters with plot armor they are being treated as real people with real struggles and feelings.
A shorter set videos they did for league of legends that are much older hold some of this tragic feeling too.
    1) Annie Origins: focuses on the character Annie who is an extremely powerful pyromancer for her young age and she can transform her teddy bear into a giant flaming bear. This video showcases her childhood with her family after her biological mother died and remarried to a new woman. That one made me cry and the step mom is a real bitch.
    2) The curse of the Sad Mummy- we don’t really have any info about the character Amumu when he was alive but he is a small boy who reincarnates as a mummy and is cursed that he will never have a friend in his “new” life because everything he touches dies. His is more of a song cinematic and details how he is tormented by his curse and incidentally harms other people without ever meaning to do so.
Both of those are fantastic but short videos to watch. Especially Annie’s as the cinematic looks like a moving watercolor painting, gorgeous to look at

Honestly if Marcus hadn't grabbed Vi, Vi would have run over...gotten herself killed and upon witnessing that Powder would not be okay with that gang and therefore would have also gotten killed.

I don't know why someone would tell you that you could post the entire episode and without having any issues.
From what I understand, what people has been saying is that you can kept the music in the reactions (except the one from Imagine Dragons) without worrying about copyright strikes. Now, I don't know if that's actually true but I've seen several reactors to this show, most of them kept the music in the video and I haven't seen any of them have a problem with it. But everyone has been careful about staying below the 10-minute mark.

This episode is honestly even sadder on rewatch. Won’t say why because it’s spoilers but yeah lol

riot is pretty gentle when it comes to copyright. you can show THEIR cinematics and music videos full lenght but not the NETFLIX show :D who said that? why would it be on netflix if you can show full length on youtube :D

Oh there's certainly fault in this, it just points in multiple directions at different points in time. This show does a great job of showing characters through both animation and writing as human beings and not as simple stereotypes to use for a specific purpose.

"I knew u still had it in you" when Silco says that to Vander .. i always thought it refers to the guilt Vander still felt for trying to drown Silco. Anyways .. nice reaction .. lets go act 2 !!

You guys fall for the "pretty things good, ugly things bad" trope pretty hard

This story does not follow the trope of the rookie who saves the day. It is more like the kid who plays with rocket fuel in the garaje and burns the house. This is why parents take care of not leaving dangerous stuff in the hands of kids.
To me, Vi is the real jinx. She gets everyone into trouble. If Vi had not taken them to Jayce house, Vander would not have been taken. And if Vi had not been headed to the warehouse, nobody would have died.
Vander capture does not seem to be with a purpose of interrogation or even to kill him. It seemed to me that Silco wanted Vander as test subject for that purple shimmer. In the end Vander drank it anyway, so Vi's presence was useless.
Vi also is stubborn and never listen to Vander. "Protect Powder" Vander said, and what did Vi do next? Play mental games with Powder which could have cost Powder life. In a way it did cost that because the outcome was worst than dying. Vi had ONE JOB and Vi failed.

I think you are as hard to Vi as the kids calling Powder Jinx. They're all kids.
