I since purchased the DLC "The Art of Riven" ( www.gog.com/en/game/the_art_of_riven ). It contains early conceptual designs for sunner bull, cow and pup (calf)... I think the 2 sunners on the rock in the lagoon (1:45:13) are mother and young. Question answered! :)
