    I hope Mizuno keeps making this version of the JPX series. I love the brushed finish and the feel they have. Feel every bit as good as any of the MP irons I've owned/hit.
    I honestly don't understand how these clubs are demanding. Maybe it's bc I've recently been playing my old set of Mizuno T-Zoid True blades. I found the JPX's to be way more forgiving than I expected. Despite Rick talking about how these Tours are demanding Rick's miss hits on this video MAYBE only lost 4 yards....and many times none at all. That said, I can understand why Rick said that given the scope of his audience. If you aren't a mid to mid-high consistent striker of the golf ball these clubs definitely won't do you any favors. When I tested the JPX Tours and the JPX Forged I noticed no difference in forgiveness between the 2. They also looked exactly the same when setting up to the ball (in the 6-iron at least). Todays blades all seem to have a thicker topline compared to what I'm used to with the old Mizuno T-Zoid True blades from 1999. Haven't hit the MP-4's...but I'm guessing they look much more thin from the top like my T-Zoid True's. I found the JPX Tours to feel every bit as soft as the MP-5's (Exact same metallurgy) while being more forgiving. The forgiveness may be subjective bc I liked the look of the JPX Tours more and may have hit them better bc of that....and the small cavity (frame) behind the club face made me FEEL like I had some help on miss hits. Felt like the perfect mix between a players blade and players cavity back iron. I felt much like Rick did about the brushed metal finish. I've owned polished T-Zoid True's and MP Mizuno's for years. Every imperfection gathered overtime is easily noticeable on the bottom of these clubs, and they WILL dent due to the soft forging. It's purely a cosmetic thing....but I like the fact that these look like clubs that are meant to be worked instead of delicate shiny pieces of jewelry.
    Had to decide between the MP-25's and the JPX Tours. Went to my fitter (The Golf Doctor, Woodstock GA) and after my 2.5 hour fitting i ordered the full JPX Tour 3-PW set with Nippon N.S. Pro Superpeening Orange X-Stiff shafts (not offered by Mizuno but my custom fitter Chad found these shafts worked best with my swing based on the Trackman numbers and visual ball flight at the range). Can't wait to get them.
    I didn't known any PGA Tour Pro's were using the JPX Tours until after the Open. I assumed all the pros used MP's. Good to see their are winning professional golfers that appreciate these irons. I hope Mizuno continues making a player iron in the JPX series for many many years.

    I've got a fitting for a set of these in a couple of weeks. Hit one from off the shelf today and felt awesome looking forward to feeling them when their fitted correctly.

    I have the 2013 version of these irons with proj X 6.5 and they will do exactly what you make them do.
    Probably the best irons ever. I prefer my lofts standard because the distance is actually more consistent. Just ask the tour pros.

  • @usee8528

    I use the 3 iron from the JPX900 Tour range for range sessions...
    ...because of the unsurpassed feel in combination with a Nippon Modus 3 shaft.
    The gorgeous looking coating also protects the golf club from collecting melted plastic from the artificial grass of the hitting mat...
    ...it works somehow like a lotus effect.

    Nice looking clubs, like the matt brush finish, good for us in the sun !!! :) No dots on these, with them on then HMT would show the strike?
    Noticed of late RS you have been hitting a lot of shots from low down the grooves from driver down - so a video to investigate why that has been happening so much needed !! ?

  • @tmua23

    Hit them today and they didn't feel a soft as the MP4. Even dead center strikes weren't nearly as buttery as I had hoped. They almost felt like a Ping iron.

  • @gerencher
    @gerencher 8 лет назад +4

    Rick, with these type of clubs, I would like to see you hit some of the different shot shapes. Are these clubs more controllable in that respect?

    • @gerencher
      @gerencher 8 лет назад

      Maria Dyke I definitely know that. But one of the myths of forgiving clubs is that they are not as workable

    • @Cornwall1888
      @Cornwall1888 8 лет назад +6

      Maria Dyke he's asking Rick to test the workability which is a good idea
      A blade is easier to control than a game improvement club if your a good player, game improvement clubs want to go high and straight

    • @Cornwall1888
      @Cornwall1888 8 лет назад

      ***** for the elite player the blade is easier to control/work, they can do more with them hence why they use them
      My ping g25'a definitely love to go straight it takes more effort to shape them I'm not saying you can't do it but you need to adjust
      My friend plays a big draw with titleist cb's with my clubs he just hits a big push he would need to adjust to them
      Anyway op has a good point I'd like to see Rick try some high, low, draw, fade shots...

      @fritoboat13 8 лет назад

      I would say that every rep I've ever talked to would disagree with your assessment. The lower CG creates a higher ball flight, meaning more energy going up and less going left or right. Less energy means less ability to move the shape of the ball. Also a larger bounce means less options with non standard shots like changing more or less loft. As far as feel, some would argue forged clubs provide a better response so you get more feedback and can react to the impact. Also consider perimeter weighting, it is proven to limit side spin which is a major component to shot shape. I do agree a low handicapper can get shape with almost any club, but your standard golfer will not.

    Rick, with you finding the lower grooves of the golf club at the moment, I would recommend trying the Mizuno Mp-25s. I have been playing these for about 6 months and I can tell you that a few grooves too low will give you a lower ball flight but you'll get almost all the distance. The Ping iblades are probably in that same ilk though. I would say don't switch if these are punishing you. Remember, you need to make it to the Open, who cares what the clubs look like? Cheers, B.

    Rick, I've got a good idea for a review. Could you review some of the PXG clubs against this years Pings? Seeing as some of the engineers from Ping left to go to PXG, i think it would be a pretty neat idea to see how they stack up compared to each other

    For an upcoming video could you do a shaft comparison with players irons? Nippon 105 or 125 pro modus vs. S300 vs. X100 vs. Project X 6.5? Do you have a video like that?

    Rick, I truly think you're overpowering the stock AMT S300 shaft. It's hard to middle every shot when you're warping the shaft a bit. I'll bet you'd kill these in the AMT X100

    Rick what irons would you recommend for a 13 handicap junior golfer who wants forged but wants distance aswell

    • @dubnessIII
      @dubnessIII 8 лет назад +1

      Obviously I'm not Rick, but I'd suggest the JPX 900 forged irons. They offer the soft feel of forging as well as a little help and forgiveness. Plus, they are slightly strong lofted, so you will get a bit more distance because of that.

    Hi Rick.
    I have the JPX 850 forged.
    Would you do a comparison between them and the 900 forged.
    Also I completely understand looks are so important.
    I would love to see a comparison between these JPX900 tour and the Ping I blades. But in both a course vlog as I think that is a better comparison than hitting off a mat on the range. And then a range with gc2 etc for the numbers.
    Keep up the great work you and Pete are doing.
