Today I'm sharing my winter night time routine complete with my favorite winter dinner recipe, a delicious hearty winter soup! This is a soup that I grew up eating in Panama called Sancocho and it's a comfort food for me that brings nothing but good memories. I hope you enjoy it! FOOD DETAILS
Sancocho Soup Recipe
❤ 1 large potato
❤ 1 large green plantain
❤ 1 large yuca
❤ 1 large onion
❤ 2-3 cloves minced garlic
❤ 1 diced tomato
❤ 2T avocado oil
❤ chicken
❤ 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
❤ squash
❤ sweet corn
Seasoning:
❤ salt & pepper to taste
❤ 1 package of Sazon - here is how to make your own tinyurl.com/jy2...
❤ 4 cubes of chicken bullion
❤ 2t ground cumin
❤ lime juice & tabasco is optional
*After sautéing the chicken for 4 minutes on each side bring water(enough to cover the chicken) to a boil then put it on medium heat and cook for an hour. After that hour is up, add the rest of the ingredients to the pot, fill the rest of the pot up with water, bring to a boil then turn the heat down to medium and cook for another 1-2 hrs.

Snapchat sent me! 😊 I'm Dominican and I love sancocho. It's crazy how every country adds like their own unique ingredients. We like to eat it with rice and avocados on the side. 😋 Great video Liz, you should do more videos with Latin recipes. ❤️
Dominicana here too. I didn't know other counties called it Sancocho too. Just thought it was another one of our silly words.
In Puerto Rico we call it sancocho too 😁
+Holistic Harmony I don't t know if you guys have mofongo and mondongo but like sancocho, I think those words came from the African slaves that were brought to the islands.

I never get tired of watching this video because we love making sancocho on cold wintery days and rainy summer days as well and you have a way of making your videos look so cozy and homey I just love it Liz!!! My "abuelita" used to make sancocho too. She was from a little island next to Puerto Rico called Vieques. She would make "bolitas de platano" which made soup thicker. What you do is grate platano verde (raw) and then make little balls and through it in your soup while cooking. Besides giving your "sancocho" and amazing flavor, it would also make it thicker. mmmm your video made me hungry! Thanks for sharing!

That soup looks DELICIOUS! Where I live now, yuca cannot be found or atleast I have not found it. I recently found a grocery store that carries plantains. YEAH! I lived in South Florida for a long time and I could get all the tropical and exotic foods all day long. I bet your house smelled amazing! Your dog is too funny and very smart.

Loved your recipe. I make something similar from my mother's kitchen. Next time you make it.. add a dry bay leaf and one cinnamon stick... It gives so much depth. Just a suggestion. Hope you like it!!
