I met an old Filipino pilot and his story was basically the intro to Ace Combat 4. Saw a Japanese dog fight as a child, then knew he’d be a fighter pilot. Legendary.
This game was honestly soooo far beyond its time. I remember this as one of the first games I ever played as a young child. Now I’m 22 and play ace combat 7 in VR. Oh how the world of gaming has changed

This game is so amazing. Even to this day. Best air combat period. The ps2 ace combats we’re so good. So many jets like 50 to choose from all accurate specs. Outfitting your planes with your favorite bombs an missiles pick for the right job. It’s a perfect game. It does exactly what it set out to do.

Not too long after, my parents got me a PS2 and guess what my first game was. All the talking between the pilots is so amazing.. and the missions. Ugh. Why can’t they remaster this? And Unsung war

Just finished Ace Combat 7, a nice reminder of the fun I had with Ace Combat 4 (the only other AC game I had ever played - 20 years ago!). Erusians and Stonehenge, all the memories came back.
This was my first ace combat game, and it started a long tradition of playing with the F-4 phantom in every game since. I cant believe I'm crying it's been so long since I've played but it feels just like yesterday I was hearing that opening for the first time.

I remember not having a memory card to save progress on. My brother and I always made it half way through before we had to turn it off for the night. Then one day my dad bought us memory cards and we were able to then beat the game
I was just a child when Ace Combat 4 came out, but I remember how different it was from other games I'd played and in turn how I grew as result. Games were an abstraction, about little more than scoring points on a screen until that fateful Christmas in 2001...
I remember first playing this game....i picked it up in 2011 when we found it in my grandfathers house after he passed I enjoyed the story the game and how you got too see both a citizens perspective and yours as a fighter in the war
This game came out 4 years before i was born, I remember hearing that intro over and over throughout my childhood. But i never remembered the story. We had a ps1 before our ps2 but the ps2 was really my first console (which me and my brothers shared) this game, and unsung war were amazing games.
To this day, I still believe Shattered Skies is one of the best missions ever put in a video game. No escort, no tactical, no ground bombing. Just a pure dogfight. Also, how safe return is one of the worst missions ever put into a video game. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to make a mission based on shooting down 2 pixel blimps in the era of 240p CRT tvs
I cane here because i seen a pilot take a picture holding this game while flying in his jet on fb lol had to come see what his inspiration was.. i remember playing this when i was 9
Got it the month it came out and was addicted to this game for 2 years and MGS2 since they came out around the same time.At the time ace combat 4 took flight simulation and air combat to a whole new level.
Mission 5 when Yellow Squadron appeared you could hit one of there aircraft and that jet would disengage but it's so efing hard to hit them, only ever managed it once.
Man I barely remember this game besides through a few slivers of memory.. definitely a beautiful game. Both story and gameplay wise, it makes me miss older days so much
So i bought the PS2 again in July 2019 to reminisce some of my favorite games like Tenchu: wrath of heaven and Scarface: The world is yours. So i found a guy selling his PS2 with 2 controllers, 1 memory card, 12 games, and a Sony Playstation carry bag for the Ps2. Well this game was in those 12 games. Ive always loved flying jets on video games since the original NES but i gotta say i fucking love this game! I mean the gameplay , graphics, intel voice, fighters to choose from, camera angles, just everything about it. I dont know how i didnt have it back then when i bought my first PS2 but im playing it now in 2019 and im hooked. This game is way ahead of its time. Its a 10/10 for me. Eventhough some missions are near impossible to complete lol but its an all around great game. I recommend for all you nostalgic gamers to collect this game and others on the original PS2 again. It wont hurt to have PS 1, 2, 3 and 4.
I got this on PS2 when I was 8. Played the whole campaign in the default jet. Now at 27 I realize I could have been in an F-22 for a lot of it and had a way easier time 🤦♂️
This game is so great because many of us wanted to be pilots but never made it because of poor eyesight, heart problems, poor grades, unwillingness to join the military etc. I personally don't want to surrender my freedom in exchange for the chance to pilot an eagle for few years. You can't fly jets to 30 years in the air force. If you could, every 30 years the whole crop of pilots would retire and it would cripple the air force's fighting power. Instead they keep sending older pilots to a desk and bringing in young ones. The correct balance is 50% veterans and 50% new recruits. Thus at no time will the air force experience a mass retirement of pilots a year before a war. Instead the air force experiences a balanced, staggered retirement rate. These people study everything, they know things. To whom it may concern, my 3 favorite aviation art books are : - Aviation Art by Lou Drendel - Warbirds by Adam Tooby - Great Fighter Jets of the Galaxy 1 by Tim Gibson
Many sought information about the future fate of the boy narrator, and nowhere is this mentioned. And I know what happened to him! He most likely played harmonica on the Kestrel aircraft carrier and became a member of the aircraft carrier team. He probably played his song in Ace Combat 5 on the carrier Kestrel :-)

I played AC1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Ace combat 3 Electrosphere was good due to the futuristic airplanes but if I remember 4 is when the developers introduced bonus aces to shoot down, great graphics with my favorite one was when the airplane broke the sound barrier, oh and the story line was great. Infact I also liked Sega Dreamcast who also made a good fighter pilot game called Airforce Delta and you could see your full game replay with different views and the end of the game but they simply stopped. AC5 with the Razgris/Unsung war and AC Zero the Belkan war followed the great story lines of AC.

Ace Zero is Over praised at least it had 2 player
In the "lifeline" mission if you want to destroy multiple ground targets you need an FAEB it's stands for Fuel Air Explosive Bomb it's an unguided bomb containing highly combustible explosives, it creates a huge explosion and damage across a wide area upon impact. @hamadhumaid1984 I remember getting the Wyvern. I used it, but I still think I used the Flanker more. Funny thing is the F-14 Tomcat is my favorite plane, but the Flanker was just too good in the game.

I remember I would play this game just to fly. Now I just fly around in GTA5.
It's no AC5, but it's one damn good story anyways. Thanks for uploading all of it
Yeah it's better than ac5
@@tjdati7071 I disagree strongly, however respect your opinion.
Gishathosaurus Ace 05 is Only Great With it’s Story and it’s Ability to Fuse it With IN-Gameplay,
To me I dont Play Games For Story but Ace Combat 05 Sold me But because the Gameplay Was Downgraded from Ace 04 to me and No 2Player, yeah it’s Story was it’s High Point !
Ace Zero is Over praised at least it had 2 player
So much nostalgia. Need this remastered, one of my fave games as a kid.
I like how you use the planes appropriate for the mission instead of just sticking with the X-02 for the whole campaign.
That being said, you should have played it on Ace difficulty to make the stakes higher; You probably would have played better if you had.
@@SomeOlDingus I did it. Look for my 1080p version of AC04
In the "lifeline" mission if you want to destroy multiple ground targets you need an FAEB it's stands for Fuel Air Explosive Bomb it's an unguided bomb containing highly combustible explosives, it creates a huge explosion and damage across a wide area upon impact. Extremely useful against multiple targets clustered together. There are a few aircrafts that has the FAEB:
A-10
SU-37 Terminator
F-15 Active
I always used the Su-37.
@@complexblacknessman, that plane is deserved to be called "dominant" a Russian aircraft like that, wow and the top speed of that plane is an incredible 2,500 km/h
@@complexblacknessone more thing about this game, I remember getting all the missions with an "S" Rank in normal difficulty and when I played this game again in a Special New Game I have all the money and went to the hanger to see if there's a new plane to buy, and there is a new fighter plane, it was X-02 Wyvern
@hamadhumaid1984 I remember getting the Wyvern.
I used it, but I still think I used the Flanker more.
Funny thing is the F-14 Tomcat is my favorite plane, but the Flanker was just too good in the game.
@complexblackness Flanker? As in Su-35 Flanker? That Russian fighter plane is a monster. Only two are the primary users of the Flanker, the Russian Areospace Forces and the People's Liberation Army Air Force ((Chinese military)). The top speed of the Flanker is 2,778 km/h
I fucking loved this game. I just hate how its impossible to emulate. Jeez I really need to replay this game again
Get the real SP2. They are super cheap and all games are aviable on torrent websites.
Jjgames has this game for $5.56
Why not use pcsx2? Its a perfect emulation.
@@GamePlayShare thanks man!
Thankfully both my ps2 and disk are still working for ultimate nostalgia lol
The physics in this game was the best, it felt the most realistic
3:16:12
Enemy 1: "There's one escort"
Enemy 2: "A ribbon... He's the one who shot down Yellow 4"
I remember replying to the enemy and it goes like this: "Yeah, so what? I shot down Yellow 13's wingman and destroy the Stonehenge don't worry soon you'll be joining her"
To me Mobius 1 is the top ace of any video game, sharing the distinction with the Ace from Wings of War ❤🎉
1:21:45 World Trade Center tower
The anime cutscenes are incongruous with the hyperrealism of the air combat graphics.
Yes Only the very beginning scene with the cgi Raising of the fictional Flags were congruent imo
I'm here watching it because it brings back memories.
Ace Combat 04, 5, and 0 make up the greatest PS2 trilogy of games ever.
Back then I have the Greatest Hits Edition of Shattered Skies, damn I wish I still have my Ps2
I've played ace combat 4,5,6 and shitsault horizshit and by far ace combat 04 is the best, its got the best story, the best, gameplay and the best soundtrack.
I prefer the music from 5 but prefer 0 for the gameplay.
If you’ve only played 4-6 and missed 0, it’s well worth a look.
Man I love this game. I played it and GTA 3 relentlessly.
This brings back memories. Such beautiful ones.
2019 and watching
gunnermaison24 hell Yeah man.
