You're right, alot of folks did run their mouths about Derek, but to be fair a lot of Raiders fans did too on his way out. I always thought Carr would take 6-12 games to truly find his rhythm in NOLA and thats actually what happened to be quite honest. I gotta tell you man, I have a *very good* gut feeling about both Minshew and O'Connell but Aidan is a little younger/less experienced...and Minshew more the competitor. It takes a QB a while to settle in...like when Carr came over I knew it'd take 6-12 games. I honestly think coach Pierce has made the correct choice for the time being at the very least. Good luck vs Lamar & Co. ! The Raiders ARE capable, but the Ravens will be difficult to beat coming off a loss like the last one, especially with coach Harbaugh at the helm. To me, you air it out from the opening kick and NEVER LET UP. That is really the ONLY way to put *pressure* on Lamar irl...even then though he may rise to the occasion. It should be a good game. Rattler fans got an NFL IQ check this weekend and it wasn’t good. Carr is a top 25 all time NFL leading passer and the youngest among active players. Talent is what makes that happen. Saints are lucky to have him. Haters will be haters.
The "he's not good when pressured" narrative around Carr is false. In 2023 he ranked in the top 10 in both pressure completion percentage (6th) and pressure catchable pass rate (10th). It's just that he was pressured (and hit, and injured) way too much in general last season. But he still brushed off two late season concussions and two late season injuries to his throwing shoulder and proceeded to ball out without missing any starts (15 TD and 1 interception in his last five games combined dating back to late last season).
The only people that hate on Carr, or doubt him, are the people that haven't watched him or don't know that he went through a new offensive system and new head coach about every year and a half and STILL had success. I hope he lights em up this year.

Carr is a good QB when he’s in a good system. He just went from having Pete Carmichael as OC to klint kubiak. That’s an unimaginable upgrade. Carmichael spent 15 years picking up Sean Payton’s dry cleaning. Rattler has tons of potential and if kubiak is still around when he gets his chance to start I expect him to be great.

I've been saying all off-season that the issue was with the offensive staff. I believe that Alan is an incredible defensive mind in the NFL, but last year I was worried that he may have lost control of the locker room. However, I think we will be able to get things back on track this year.

After his late last year performance they cannot say he is trash anymore. Now he is “average.” An average QB would have never made that throw as well as the other two laser TD throws to Moreau and Johnson.

We love our players and we go hard for them way beyond football to the grave.You guys watch 1 podcast the day after the very first game and get caught up in the moment. Spencer Rattler is A Saint until he is not a Saint anymore. I don't think any of the WHO DATS tried to create some narrative that Rattler was better than Carr or vice versa. We just want our team to win like any other fan base wants there team to be sucessful.The media as always made the Rattler and Derek Carr quarterback situation a thing. To be honest and Derek will tell you himself he wasn't good last year and Pete Carmichael the old OC was horrible. Derek Carr did good yesterday but the new offensive coordinator is the most celebrated here because he gave Carr help with his scheme[a running game] that had the offense playing together and Carr greatly benefited from it. Stroud pre-game talked a lot about God so we will see if he gets as much lip from fans about that. I've always liked Carr and fans said he wasn't a guy I'd have a beer with but before we moved to Vegas we had Carr, Cooper and Mack who all would have stayed out of trouble. Carr was so injured, with a horrible OC, inexperienced WR's, terrible OL, with an average defense. I was mad at my beloved saints, everyone was at fault. Did I throw hate at Carr last year? Fans booing the qb because the team is failing isn't right. Carr with the bottom 10 pass protection and bottom 10 run blocking online with the 21st ranked rush attack had top 10 passing stats. Carr talking shit to online men and wrs for not doing their jobs if right is what you want to see from the leader not those players who are messing up talking shit to the qb.

That said, the majority of the fanbase was beyond frustrated with the OC and Allen last year, so by proxy.. first year Carr too... but like i said, if this is Carr and new OC's standard or at least expecation, he and Klint will be made into Mardi Gras floats.

I've been saying all off-season that the issue was with the offensive staff. I believe that Alan is an incredible defensive mind in the NFL, but last year I was worried that he may have lost control of the locker room. However, I think we will be able to get things back on track this year.

The saints had no run game last year because our Offensive scheme was to throw the ball 5-8 yards down the field defenses just stacked the box on us.
Carr is a very good QB. He isn't elite, but he'll get the job done if he has support and an offensive coordinator not name Pete Carmichael.
