I like how the kitchen spoons tell a story of many years.

Are wooden spoons safe from bacteria? Do they soak up soap when washing them?

Growing up my grandmother and mother only used wood/bamboo cooking utensils. I do the same..

My favorite spoon is between me and my wife, but I don’t want to share an image of that.

I have used all sorts of wooden spoons, I generally prefer broader and longer ones, as far as I can evaluate based on my experience. I'm eager to see the new wooden spoon design you come up with. What oil would you recommend for wooden spoons maintenance? Thank you.

Weirdly enough my favorite spoon is a plastic/metal spoon but only because it was my mom's growing up and my grandmother's before.

Does the type of wood a spoon is made from matter? Not a "chef" level spoon but a "mother cooking in the kitchen" type spoon?

yes. Get a hardwood. You dont want a wood that is prone to warping or a wood that is too porous.
