- Learn to express your opinion in Spanish just like native Spanish speakers do. In Spanish, there is a grammatical difference between affirmative and negative sentences with the verb "creer". Where do you use the subjunctive, in affirmative or in negative sentences? In this lesson you will learn when and how to use the verb "creer" and when and why the verb that follows may be in subjunctive. So, for instance an affirmative sentence goes like this: "Creo que va a llover" but the negative sentence needs a subjunctive: "No creo que llueva". In this lesson you will also learn to correctly express opinions that you are sure of and opinions you are unsure of, for which you would use the Spanish subjunctive: "Estoy segura de que David viene mañana", "I am sure David comes tomorrow" and its counterpart "No estoy segura de que David venga mañana, "I am not sure David is coming tomorrow. It seems difficult but it is not, mark me, just watch my lesson and see for yourself that it is simple, easy, and important to learn this structure in Spanish. And remember to watch my lesson about the differences between the verb "creer" and "pensar" when you are expressing your opinion in Spanish. Remember that "creer" is a more handy verb when expressing simple, plain opinions. "Pensar" would be a verb used for let's say... deeper thoughts.
You may want to watch my lesson about the differences between the verb "pensar" and "creer" either before or after this lesson:

Demystifying subjunctive! Thank you!
My very thought, the mysterious world of subjunctivo. Add this to my understanding of use of subjunctivo for a wish or desire. My first conjugacion of subjunctivo for a verb.
Muchas Gracias, Ana. I'm a beginning Spanish learner and your videos are the best! So helpful. I've already learned so much. Muy bueno!

Creo qué tu eres la mejor profesora de todo México... Un abrazo desde Europa 💙
Please keep making these wonderful videos of your lessons. Love all your videos and classes. Mucha gracias profesora Anna. ❤️💯
In Spanish, subjunctive is how you indicate something that hasn't happened may happen, may have happened(if things had been otherwise) , or will happen(if things change).
The conditional tense only indicates something may or may not happen though.
The indicative tense indicates something does/did/will happen for certain.
I think of the subjunctive as a hypothetical, an idea that doesn't really exist in time. I wish I could win the lottery. "winning the lottery" is a concept one is thinking about, not a particular event. A wish or a desire is a well known use of the subjunctive in Spanish, the examples in this lesson are a little trickier for me. "Creo que..." still indicates something even if you're fudging how sure you are about it, not believing something will happen guess turns it into a hypothetical, you're turning it into a concept that's not going to exist in real time. I'm also kind of wondering about her future example too, "No creo que Llegará tarde" why doesn't that become subjunctivo futuro also? ie, llegare? it becomes something like "I don't believe he is arriving late" as opposed to "will be arriving late"? Learn it the way she teaches it I guess.
@@TheJhtlag I think that "no creo que llegara..." means that you don't have to imagine a different scenario than what's already going down. But for the subjunctive, maybe "En qué no estará un autobús nadie estuviera aquí mañana."?
You’re sunny personality and sense of humor makes learning so much more fun. I look forward to all of your episodes!! Thank you Ana!
You make me smile and laugh, for that I commend you

I appreciate you so much for keeps Doing a intelligent teaching sharing knowledge for everyone, I really love you 😍 bom Dies
So do we say "Creo que Pedro no *está* enojado" or "Creo que Pedro no *esté* enojado"? We're making a positive statment, but it's about a negative. (EDIT: Googling seems to tell me that "Creo que no..." does not get the subjunctive, because we are indicating something we believe!)
You’re the best Spanish teacher ever. Really.
Creo que esta es una profesora excelente! Gracias:-)
*creo que es una excelente profesora.
Thank you for doing this class even though it didn't seem like it was your day lol 🙏
You’re the best Ana! You should be hired by Philippines to help restore Spanish back as national language once again.

Yo hablo español naturalmente y estoy estudiando inglés. ¿Sirve igual si lo miro al revés? 😆
Pedro nunca hace nada. ¡Qué huevón!
Tooooo confusing. I listened very carefully, and I ran it twice, but I still don't understand why "está" becomes "esté" when you say "No creo...etc."
No está claro.
Normally I allow for two interruptions for advertisements but only if I really like the content. I allowed you three because I really like you. But FOUR interruptions?! Nope. Sorry Ana. Dino don’t play that.
¡Hola profesora Ana!
Quería preguntarle si el pronombre relativo *Que* no viene ante el verbo en infinitivo o no es una regla fija.
Cómo se dice "we don't think Pedro is upset"? No creemos que Pedro esté enojado
The subjunctive is confusing for several reasons. The main reason is that it does not have a good way to relate it to English. In this video I am not sure why, if the subjunctive has a present, imperfect, and future tense, I would not use the future subjunctive rather than the present for the sentence "No creo que Pedro llegue tarde". Why wouldn't I say "llegare" If the affirmative sentence is "Creo que Pedro llegará tarde."
This particular video is unnecessarily long. The same topic can be covered in 5 to 7 minutes max. No need to keep repeating the same thing over and over again. Ay ay ay. One can always rewind or rewatch the video if one needs a better understanding of this topic ( if it’s about 5mn or so). Thank Basically when you use the negative to express an opinion, use the subjunctive otherwise use the present tense. 30 minutes for that? Who has the time?
I am now😎 learning spanish. English is my 1st language. Happy new year 2023!🥳🥂
Thanks . You have helped in reducing the " fear of subjunctive . "
This is great because my fiancé is more negative so I’m learning the wrong way
What if you want to say, I am sure Pedro is not upset? Would Estoy segura Pedro no es enojada be correct?
Muchas gracias Ana 👍🏻
Wow.. Its very good teaching.. Mam.. I am pleased
Hola..I'm Tapas n I'm from India ...imma huge fan of reggeaton so I started learning spanish to understand the meaning of reggea song but unfortunately I still don't get a single word so please give me some advice or something..n I like your smile ,u have a cute smile ..keep smiling 😁
Hi are you mad becuse! Have you no mony. You have weard short cloth
? Es posible que decir: " No creo que, Pedro va a llegar tarde"... o no..?? Porque para mi... es mas fácil, si se compara con "llegue"...! Que te parece, Ana..??
Sí, está correcto lo que dices.
I want to say thank you to you because of you I can speak Spanish with my idol in February 2022, Marc Marquez ♡
I think you are wonderful,amazing,
Me llamo kostas soy griego. En Grecia, si derramas café, ¡es buena suerte!
Así que tendrás buena suerte. Porque en el momento en que sucede y todo se ensucia, definitivamente causa irritación.
WHY está for positive and esté for negative?
How can you remember everything you learn?
Could you say 'No creo que Pedro vaya llegar tarde' ?
No creo que Pedro vaya a llegar tarde.
Creo que Pedro va a llegar tarde.
Both are correct.
Está correcto pero no olvides la preposición " a".
Ya tengo una duda: ¿Por qué upset? ¿No sería angry or mad?
Son sinónimos, está bien.
¡Por fin! Sé por qué Ramón Ayala en su canción "Ya No Llores" decía "ya no llores mujer, no estés triste" -- usted es la profa mejor.
The USA 🇺🇸 navy needs you.
Tu lección fue muy bien. Pero el subjunctive para mi es muy dificil.!! Quizás voy a aprender un dia!!

who would have thought any kind of grammer lesson could possibly be so fun!!
Anna is gifted in her teaching. In reading the comments about those of us that are Mexican-American and not fluent, as well as those of us who are learning the language as new, we all agree that Anna is special in her teaching style. She helps the light bulb go on.
