We live in The Netherlands, in this part of the world Bengals are expensive too. Some breeders have to part with some adult Bengals and sometimes they are affordable. Success.

The Bengal is the very most beautiful, smart cat in the world, but, IMO, is generally not suitable to be a domestic companion for a novice cat mom or even the most experienced, excellent but busy cat mom. They are simply too hyper to be happy in a domestic situation. If the cat mom devotes 100% of her time to a Bengal, and the Bengal is a certain calmer one, Maybe. Be careful about choosing a Bengal based on its beauty. They're a handful. I'm going on my cat mom experience.

Cats have been very important in my whole life and the last ten years we share our life, our house and garden with six Bengals and everybody is happy. I agree with your advice, be very critical when you choose a Bengal kitten, take your time, observe the cattery, the cats and the kittens. But firstly, do your homework, read and learn about Bengal cats, after that you are able to visit a litter and spend time with the cats, the kittens and the people. Finally to can choose with your heart and you will have a very special friend.
